Sheryl is happily going through her life when her aging mother is unexpectedly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The diagnosis brings to the surface old hurts and unresolved feelings about the abandonment Sheryl felt in her childhood. She had occasionally felt this loss but always managed to let go and move on. Knowing that she has lost the opportunity to confront her mother on these issues, Sheryl begins to examine her formative years. In doing so, she begins to peel back the layers of her life and face the hurt and loss of a little girl’s childhood.
