Overview

Loyalty beyond life itself...

Desire that whispers to defy an oath...

At risk is all they've ever shared and a future they hope to keep.

Having slipped from a demon lord’s clutches, Sara Forrester is plunged into the only role in life she was ever meant to fulfill—the quest to obtain three ancient keys hidden by a powerful governing order across the realms—the Soltari. Sara and her team must race to Scotland and find the sacred Druid priests before the evil seeking to end her quest traces her energy trail and puts an end to mankind. But when Sara arrives, a powerful force lures her to a break in time and space, diverting her intended path.

Staying alive to recover the keys and save humanity is not Sara’s only dilemma. She’s done what she vowed never to do, let herself love another human being. But Kevin is not just any other person and she intuitively knows it. Unlike Kevin, Sara has no memory of her connection to him. The distraction could cost them everything. If Kevin breaks his oath to the Soltari by sharing with Sara his memories spanning lifetimes together, their bond could be forever severed by the very entity that brought them together.

When I picked up this book I must had been distracted and did not notice it was the second in a series but once I started reading it didn’t matter which book it was I was hooked. Dana Alexander wrote this book beautifully. Giving me enough information to just keep wanting more. I think my favorite art of this book was the relationship between Sara Foster and her soulmate. There is so much he knows that she does not and it just adds to the frustrations and trials that they are already facing. But on the other side it is also making them stronger, knowing they can count on the other no matter what happens. The concept of the Dark taking over Earth was a compelling concept, I can see how that could very well happen. As humans be have become very negative and live on self-doubt in most cases. The idea of the light barrier is an interesting concept that just one spark of light can fight back against the dark is an inspiring concept. No Matter how dark things become as long as there is a shred of light there is still hope. I will definitely continue reading this series. I am interested to see how the romantic aspect will turn out as well as how the next key will be obtained. This compelling book will be recommended during my next book club, though I believe we will start with book one and then move forward.

Sara Forrester has a long past she unfortunately can’t remember. She was the leader of the Alliance. She feels a connection to Kevin, but unbeknownst to her, Kevin is part of her past, a warrior. As the future of humanity hangs in the balance, Kevin and Sara are on the hunt for 3 keys that will keep a dark world from drawing from human’s energy for evil. Fooled as they closed in on the first key, Sara is taken and Kevin must save her. A Light Within is the second book in the Three Keys book series. I read the first one as well and became fascinated with the story. Lots of suspense make this sci-fi book an excellent read. Highly recommend!

Sara and Kevin are back in book 2, A Light Within, a follow-up to Beyond a Darkened Sky. Sara is once again saving the wakened world from Tarasom and an evil plan to destroy humanity. She accesses this other world in her sleep, and has a long past that she can’t remember. Along with Kevin, three keys are to be found in order to break Tarasom. I am a huge fan of sci-fi. I bought the first book after a recommendation from a friend and found myself instantly drawn to the story. Fair to say, reading Beyond a Darkened Sky will make a Light Within much easier to grasp. I am anxious to read the final book. 5 stars!

Brilliant story full of sci-fi elements! This science fiction novel narrates the story of Sara Forrester, who is unable to remember having been a council memeber of the Alliance, and Kevin Scott, the assigned skilled warrior. Together, they are in the search for three keys that will help them prevent the Dark Lord from taking over the earth and terminating humankind. Sara used to be a leader in the Alliance, but now she has to learn to struggle with extra abilities and deal with a past she cannot remember. Sara certainly knows that something's going on between her and Kevin, but he is not allowed to tell her. After they get the first key, Sara is deceived by an undercover foe and becomes a prisoner in the dark world, where getting free by herself is not an option. Kevin, along with some extra help, builds up a team to rescue her. This is mainly how the story starts developing, with the events getting more and more intense as the novel advances. I liked the development of plot and characters and I consider it was a quick read because as it got me engaged till the end, I was able to read it in a few seats. I recommend this one to those who like reading sci-fi!

A Light Within is the second book in a series, and this is one series that you really do want to read in order. Without a doubt, the series is heavily into fantasy and has taken Sara Forrester out of a normal world and into something that is completely different. It’s a complex fantasy story, but it’s complex in all the right ways. The author does a great job at bringing this fantasy world to live, although there were some times where the rules felt a little arbitrary, which did detract a little from the story. Overall though, it was an enjoyable and grabbing read, and I kept wanting to know what would happen next.

“A Light Within” is a science fiction story written by Dana Alexander, American writer. It is the second book in a series called “Three Keys”. I enjoyed reading this story although I read in the comments that it is very similar to the first book of the series, which I have not read yet but I want to. In the last few years there is a tendency towards having a woman as the hero and this is an example of this. The heroine is called Sara Forrester and she has to fulfill certain tasks to succeed. The book is very dynamic. It is fast-paced and it is written in a very good style. All in all I would recommend reading it; especially for young adults and teenagers because I think they are the target reader for this novel.

Oops, so I did not read the first book, first. That was my mistake don't let it happen to you. You really need to, you kind of get a flimsy back story at with the beginning of this book but you'd be better off reading it. Fantasy is really not my thing but this book may have changed that for me. There is a lot of action in this book though. Sara is on a mission to find three old keys to save to world. Now if you will excuse me I need to go read the first book.

A Light Within is an interesting science fiction novel. Sara Forrester and Kevin Scott are on a quest to find three keys to prevent the Dark Lord from taking over the earth. They have an elite team that is aiding them, and there to protect Sara. Sara was once a leader in Alliance, and now she is human and must learn to function with added abilities, trust issues, and deal with her unknown past. She knows she is more to Kevin than just a girl friend, but what? He is not at liberty to reveal it to her. After obtaining the first key, she finds a foe that can shape shift himself into to her dearest friends. She came close to giving the key away. Sara ends up a prisoner in the dark world, with no way of escaping on her own. With the help of the Druids and the White Witch, Kevin has the tools needs to take the team to rescue her.

A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander For readers that are familiar with the first book in this series by author Dana Alexander, you will not be disappointed in this second installment. If you haven’t read it, Beyond a Darkened Sky provides the backstory and minute details that explain how main character Sara has come to the point where we meet up with her again in book two, A Light Within. However, this book is quite able to stand on its own, so don’t be discouraged if you haven’t read the first book. Alexander does wonderfully well in creating truly likable and real characters, and the storyline is descriptive, detailed, and honestly enjoyable. Alexander has a comforting, smart, and fun style of writing that is the key to engaging her readers, and with every page, you can’t wait to see what happens next.

If you like fantasy novels, this is the one to read A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander too much fantasy and magical thinking for me, but I find it easy to read because the writing style is simple and well-constructed, so it helps to go on even when the book is a little bit slow, especially at the beginning, when you or me that did not read the first book of the series, are getting to know who Sara is and what she and Kevin are doing, there is a lot of suspense during this descriptions and on. There are a lot of adventure and fights between Sara and some dark evils, and they move all around the world, leading to destroying the evil demon. All in all is a dark, adventure book full of fantasy and magic, if you like this gender, you will like this book. Try to read first the book 1, so you can understand better this one because it took me some time to understand what was happening and who was who.

Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander was a good read. I read the first in the series Beyond a Darkened Sky back over the summer. And I was thrilled to get my hands on the second one. In this book, we pick up again with Sarah Forrester and her protector Kevin still looking for the three keys. I think this book flowed nicely. I was glad I had read the first in the series prior to this one. So I knew exactly what was going on. The characters are well developed and the plot keeps you drawn in with lots of action, sci-fi, suspense and love. Dana Alexander has created a beautiful world with her words for us to get lost in. I would recommend.

I truly enjoyed “A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2), by Dana Alexander. She is able to take a character, by traditional roles, should have been somewhat meek and then transformed into a strong, independent character. Instead, Sara is portrayed as her own person that eventually succumbs to her own inhibitions, loving Kevin. The truly great thing about this connection is that is was something she never wanted or was aware of in the past, but Kevin was completely aware of their connection. The lack of communication (because of the oath that Kevin took) made the connection all the more interesting because you never knew how Kevin would react to a certain situation. Seeing as this is the second novel in the series, it would be best to read the first novel, just so you have a better understanding of the characters, but they are well developed in this novel, so you could get by without having read the first book.

A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander was a hard read for me. While the story was interesting, I found that it was the 2nd book in a series and I had not read the first book. There are several references to that first book, to things that happened that aren’t really fleshed out in this one. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to get the first book so I soldiered on. The heroine, Sara Forrester, along with her protector and lover Kevin, are on a quest to retrieve 3 ancient keys that will save the world from an evil demon, Tarsamon. Sara and Kevin have been together for centuries, however only Kevin remembers them. The two of them together lead a team of warriors on the search for the keys. The story develops nicely and I enjoyed it, however I wish I had been able to read the first book before I read this one.

This book is just as action packed as the first one. In case you missed that one, you don’t have to worry because it will still all make sense. The author drops hints so you won’t be lost and will be able to keep up and enjoy the story. At the beginning of this one, Sara and Kevin are in Scotland to obtain something they will need to complete a very important journey. The beginning is a bit scary, with possible ghosts talking and crazy dreams, and the book never lets up on suspense; it just keeps getting better. This is especially true after the whole gang gets back together for this mission. They have to stay one step ahead of the bad guys, which takes them to different worlds and makes them use special abilities. You will want to read this one if you love fantasy books or high-energy good versus evil stories.

The second book in the series. Sara is off to find the second key. If you didn’t read the first book, Dana Alexander somewhat clumsily gives the backstory in a rush in the beginning of the second book. It’s never completely easy to update the reader on the plot of the previous book, but Alexander blurts it all out at once which might turn a new reader away. Once you get into the flow of the story, it’s easy to follow along. Sara seemed a bit reluctant to accept her role in finding the three keys in the first book but now appears to have accepted her fate. It’s a pretty predictable tale but still entertaining. The romance that can’t be still smolders between Kevin and Sara. There are some editing issues. I would recommend reading the books in order because the stories build on each other. The third book isn’t out yet, but I’m sure it will be helpful to have the full backstory, not a quick synopsis.

Had high hopes for this one, but… I read the first book in this series and thought had promise, even though it really needed an editor and the formatting needed fixed. At least with this second book the formatting was not an issue, but an editor still needs to be found! (Doing so would probably move this book from 3-stars to 4 or 4-1/2 stars in my opinion.) I had hoped the pace would quicken with this book, but the slow pace set by the first book continued with this one. The main character, Sara, also didn’t really develop as I had hoped. There was a bit of an issue with the author dumping a bunch of information on the reader outside of the story, and choppy, slow narration at times. The good points about this book are interesting subplots, characters with some substance and a believable mystical premise. If you’re willing to overlook the flaws and just read the story, then you’ll enjoy this book.

This was a really good tale. Even though I didn’t read the first book in this series (this is the second, and I really need to start picking up the first books from now one), the story wasn’t hard to follow. The author did not swamp you with information either, rather she lest the story unfold and feeds you a bit of background information little by little. That is the best way to do this I think. I did feel a tad lost amidst the many characters and their relation ships from time to time, but never to the point of frustration. The story follows Sara as she leads a team of warriors through earth and other parallel worlds in search of the three keys that will save Earth from the all consuming powers of the shadows who are directed by Tarsalon. Sara is an old soul and has been connected to Kevin, who remembers their past lives together, yet cannot reveal them to Sara for fear of distracting her from the mission and violating an agreement he has with powerful beings. This story brings the spirit of teamwork, compassion, bravery and testing your limits and it does this in a beautiful manner. I recommend this book.

Author Dana Alexander has an extraordinary literary grace which allows people who would not usually find themselves drawn to science fiction being swept along with the gift she holds for making her characters viable and realistic. We are able to get into the story almost immediately when in Chapter One Sara awakens suddenly from a dream and we are straight into the tense drama to follow. The author tells us this about the story which follows: ‘Sara Forrester is plunged into the only role in life she was ever meant to fulfil; the quest to obtain three ancient keys hidden by the powerful entity known as the Soltari. Sara and her team must race to Scotland and find the sacred Druid priests before the evil that seeks to end the quest traces her energy trail and puts an end to mankind. But when she arrives, a powerful force lures her to a break in time and space, diverting her intended path. Staying alive to recover the keys that will save humanity is not Sara's only dilemma. She's done what she swore never to do, let herself love another human being. But Kevin is not just any other person and she intuitively knows it. Unlike Kevin, Sara has no memory of her connection to him. The distraction could cost them everything. If Kevin breaks his oath to the Soltari by sharing with Sara their eternal memories, their bond could be forever severed by the very entity that brought them together.' For me, that description was more than enough to encourage me to carry on reading. Dana gives us crisp dialogue, mixed in with some honest emotions which make for an intriguing and enthralling read. Although Dana would be considered as being early in her career, I still feel that she shows immense promise and has produced here an exceptionally fine read. I for one certainly have a desire to make sure that I follow subsequent books to come in this adventure series. I have no choice other than to give this five stars!

A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander is the second book in the series about Sara Forrester, who is part of parallel worlds where she is the former council member of the Alliance in one of them. This is a nice follow up to the first book, which I really enjoyed. It's more complex than the first one which really caught my interest but it definitely follows along with the storyline that I liked. This installment is about Sara's continuing journey along with her protector Kevin Scott, who she met in the hospital in book one. I will say that it's not like some series where you can pick up on book two without having read the first one. You definitely need to start at the beginning in order to follow what is going on and understand the series.
