Four tales of dark urban fantasy, cyberpunk mystery, and vampire horror told with a sharp noir edge.

Private detective Harry Celeste tracks a case rife with sex bots, killing machines, and old wounds that refuse to heal.

A heartless mafia enforcer, known to the underworld as Shovel, finds that even he has passion in the presence of a mysterious wooden doll.

Picking up strangers proves lustful and dangerous for a young man with nothing to lose but his loneliness.

Two hitmen discover a mime in an invisible box and what he's not saying could kill them both.

Mystery and magic. Hatred and desire. The unliving and the restless dead. This is Valentine's Day with Halloween style. It's sex and violence from that dark corner of your imagination you dare not share with anyone else.

A collection not intended for the faint of heart. Stories include:

  • Eating in the Underworld
  • Unfeeling
  • Lonely
  • Mime

"Brink melds hard-boiled mystery, robot sex slaves, and a twist on Greek myth, all which evoke Blade Runner, and leaves you wanting for more."  -- Tales of the Talisman Magazine

About the Author

If taking a college fencing class, eating from the trash can, and smelling like an animal were qualifications for becoming a sword-swinging barbarian, J. D. Brink might be Conan’s protégé. But since that career path seemed less than promising, he has instead been a sailor, spy, nurse, and officer in the U.S. Navy, as well as a gravedigger, insurance adjuster, and school teacher in civilian life. Today (fall, 2014) he and his family live in Japan, where he's providing a bad example for all Americans. In his writing, as in life, Mr. Brink enjoys dabbling in multiple genres.
