This was a delightful story. If you're a fan of plays you will just love this one. Nicola and Max have a past. An on and off again type a relationship. They broke each others' heart and have not seen one another in a long time. Now they must work together to bring the Midsummer Nights play to life. This book gives you a look at how a play comes together with rehearsals, costumes designs, and the unpleasant people you sometimes have to work with. Can Max and Nicola work together without their explosive chemistry get in the way? Will they make the same past mistakes? I liked the flow of the book and the characters. They all had their quirks that brought life to this book. Plus all the events that make this play seem like a curse.

Shakespeare, musical theater, and The Princess Bride references? Yes, please! A Midsummer Night's Fling is a second- (no, wait--third-...er, make that fourth-) chance romance story set in an absolutely amazing-sounding theater among the cast members of a premier Shakespeare company doing--what else?--A Midsummer Night's Dream. Our main characters, Max and Nic, have tried the whole relationship thing--several times--and now are determined to be just friends. Friends who are playing Oberon and Titania. And who have to kiss on stage. A lot. This will totally work, right? And if their never-ended explosive chemistry isn't enough of an issue for them to deal with, they've also got a spiteful, cougar-wannabe co-artistic director; a competitive and resentful fellow actor; see-through and skintight costumes; and potentially painful hair bleach making things even more complicated. Can the forth time really be the charm? Will they survive the rehearsals and make it to opening night in one piece? Read A Midsummer Night's Fling to find out! (I had to take quick reading breaks to watch the videos of "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better" and "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General" and the Henry VSt. Crispin's Day speech--really, I had no choice! You'll understand why when you read it ;)) I had a lot of fun reading A Midsummer Night's Fling. I loved Max, Nic, and the rest of the company and can't wait to see where the rest of the series will go! (Plus OMG, I really wish that I could go see the version of Henry V that they're slated to be putting on next, because it sounds absolutely awesome!) Rating: 4 stars / A- I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

This second chance romance is adorable and sexy at the same time. The cast of characters is definitely intriguing and they keep your attention throughout. One thing the author did very well was to inspire emotion toward them, whether negative or positive, I still had feelings for the characters. The plot is fun and has some unique elements. The outdoor theatre and summer Shakespeare cast reminded me of Shakespeare in the Park, in Central Park every summer. I also enjoyed the witty nature of the dialogue, especially the inner dialogue, it definitely had me giggling at times. Max is all that is yummy in a hero. I especially liked that he wasn’t the dark, brooding type. He’s quick to smile and put you at ease, funny, loveable, but he still has that masculine alpha thing that sets you on fire. Throughout the story, it’s clear he has done a lot of growing and the author does her best to give the reader situations where he is able to prove it. I loved that he took responsibility as well. He knew he’d screwed up. And, while there is blame to go around, he owned his part. Nicola actually possesses a lot of the same qualities as Max, although, she doesn’t admit to her part in their downfall quite as honestly. Once you learn their history, it’s easier to understand why she is so wary of being around Max and possibly falling for him again. She’s a strong woman and I love how she stuck to her guns and took the crap handed to her by other characters with dignity and professionalism. This is one of the ways the author was able to show Nicola’s level of growth as well. These two have crazy chemistry! The sexual tension is thick and when it finally implodes, you’ll walk away with 2nd degree burns! The cast of characters is fabulous. They are all so unique and I finished the book hoping some of them will get their own novels. I will say, there was a little too much Shakespeare. And, this is coming from someone who was a professional actor and English Lit major, who adores Shakespeare. So, too much for me is hard to accomplish. It got tedious and slowed the pace down some. There were also a couple of moments where the author almost lost me. I felt like their interest in other people, after being back in each other’s presence and feeling their chemistry, towed the line with me. Overall, this was on the lighter side, it was fun, sexy, and sweet. I enjoyed it a lot. It goes on my “might re-read list” but I’m definitely going keep my eye on this author.

This book was truly exceptional! Completely full of detail, attention, charm and spellbinding pages. Filled with more drama than a soap opera; as the characters of this story act out their rehearsal for a large production of A Midsummer Nights Dream. Their struggles, their emotions, the battle to be perfection. The drama is a roller coaster ride of words; exciting to read, full of power, & often leaving you breathless. It has a Shakespearean twist that reminds you of the first movie, play, book or Shakespeare experience you ever had. Captivating your soul & infiltrating your heart all over again. Eliza Walker filled this novel with culture adding momentous lines everywhere. The steamy love affair fills you with warmth as you engage into the heart & mind of the star crossed lovers. Never failing to ramp up your pulse with an explosive encounter. The amount of Shakespeare lines & lingo may be daunting for some readers, but the story is astounding taking you away & mesmerizing you into the novel and into the play production. Massive applause & standing ovation for her first novel, a story of perfection! Read by French Sparkle with Pop Fizz Clink Read
