About the Author

Carla Charter often says her writing began as soon as she could hold a pen. Although she wrote all throughout her childhood and college years her journalism career began after taking a job as a clerk at a local newspaper, typing in Home News and Obituaries. When one of the paper's correspondents unexpectedly left her position, Charter was handed a notebook and pen in order to cover a local meeting. Thus began her 20 year newspaper career. Her fiction writing began as an offshoot of her journalism.
A Miracle of Faith began with a simple question which popped into Charter's mind one day and politely refused to leave. If the Christmas story happened today would people believe what was unfolding right before their eyes?
This question and the idea of a story based on this concept, stayed conveniently on the back burner of her mind until the night Esther, the main character, appeared in a dream to Charter.
"She was there as clear as day, a slight built 96 year old woman, dressed for church, firmly banging her cane, insisting I get up and tell her story. I awoke from the dream, knowing this was a character not to be messed with." Charter picked up a notebook and immediately began writing. That early morning writing and the days of writing that followed, were what soon became the e-book, A Miracle of Faith and firmly answered Charter's earlier question.
Charter's novels are all set in New England, where she was born and raised, a place she still loves and calls home today.
