Eighty-five year old Red Byrd Conley is happy and enjoying life at an assisted living facility in California. When a murder takes place at the facility, Red Byrd throws herself into solving it. In the process, the memoirs she is fictionalizing for National Novel Writing Month begin to take her back to another murder that took place over 60 years earlier.
