Reviewed by Lee Ashford for Readers' Favorite A Nation Under Judgment by Richard Capriola is a biblical indictment of today’s America, as we have watched the systematic removal of God from our schools, our legislation, and our national conscience. Capriola has gleaned hundreds of examples in which God has punished other nations for drifting from His commands about how life is to be conducted. He documents a whopping 599 citations useful for further study by readers who may wish to learn even more about a particular area in which America is courting the wrath of God. The statistical data Capriola cites is staggering at times. One wonders how things could possibly have gotten so bad without our being aware of it. The sad irony is that many of these horrendous statistical facts may have been intentionally hidden from general knowledge, no doubt because even the perpetrators of permissive legislation fear the public outcry that should result, once people understand just how unacceptable so many of our nation’s sins have become.  A Nation Under Judgment is an outstanding, comprehensive analysis comparing 21st Century America with God’s precepts, so clearly defined within the Bible. Among the topics meticulously discussed are: hunger, homelessness, abortion, gambling, marriage (and the degradation thereof), pornography, environment, poverty, gluttony, greed, child abuse, and the purchase of political pandering by egregious bribery. Richard Capriola does not offer solutions per se; he merely asks whether the reader believes our national attitude reflects God’s position in each of these areas. When one reads what God has to say about these topics, it becomes abundantly clear we are NOT truly “One Nation Under God” today. Regardless of one’s personal beliefs regarding any of these various topics, Christian and non-Christian readers alike must admit America has gone off the track where God’s will is concerned. That fact really should cause all readers to pause and consider what may be in store for America, possibly in the not-too-distant future.

In A Nation Under Judgment, author Richard Capriola engages the reader in a thought provoking discussion of how our nation has fallen from the governing principles of grace and wisdom of One Nation Under God that our founding fathers had intended. Through a well researched, documented, and thoughtful construction, the author provides a richly descriptive book full of statistics, trends, examples, and fundamental Christian principles and scriptures to convey the message that our nation and its leaders need to turn away from its current individual and selfish practices and social policies back towards the original intentions of wisdom and care for all of the nation's citizens that our founding fathers had wanted the nation to be governed by. A Nation Under Judgment is an intriguing and resourceful book that every US citizen should read. The author engages the reader in a conversation that will open their eyes and encourage them to call upon the leaders of our nation to stop their individual pursuits or inaction in regard to the social policies of our nation (hunger, homelessness, abortion, marriage, poverty, greed, etc), and empower them to restore the governing of our nation under the vision, intended practices, and wisdom of One Nation Under God.

So this book talks about our nation and how we have moved away from being a nation that makes polices based on God's point of view. It talks about how our nation has moved so far away from what the founding fathers wanted for this country. How we as a people are very dissatisfied with our government. The government has moved towards a very selfish direction. It has been years of steady decline in the opinion of the government. While reading this book I was struck by how much I agree with this. Politics are more about who can win, not what is best for the people. If you ask anyone about their states politicians they answer with annoyance. No one trust that the government is about what is best for the people anymore. This book is a great read and will get you thinking. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
