Overview

An epic tale of revenge and love in a new romantic trilogy from the New York Times best-selling author of The Beauty Series.

I've watched him from afar for years. And he has no idea. I take joy in that.

Through my observations, I've learned what makes this charming villain tick.
Whisky.
Power.
Beautiful women.
And Sex. Lots of it.

Sometimes you must get into bed with the enemy for the greater good. And that's what I'll do; it's all part of making Sinclair Breckenridge fall in love with me so I can penetrate his inner circle.

There's hell to pay.
I'm a dark horse. The perfect storm.
I am Bleu MacAllister. And I'm coming for him.

A Necessary Sin by Georgia Cates is the first book in her new series The Sin trilogy. It is a twisted tale of revenge and determination and love that will leave you ignoring everything but the book until the last page is turned. Bleu McAllister has done everything she can since she was twelve years old to prepare for the revenge she wants to mete out against the man who killed her mother and tried to kill her. She is going to Scotland to infiltrate The Order and she has her sights set on using the son of the murderer to bring him doen. Sinclair Breckenridge isn't sure what it is about the gorgweous new bermaid at The order's pub but he can't stop thinking about her. He doesn't do commitment or repeats but she won't even show any interest in him. THAT's never happened before. This story is addicting. It is dark and twisted and very surprising. LoVeD It!!! Up next... The Next Sin and One Last Sin

3.75 stars--A NECESSARY SIN is the first installment in Georgia Cates’s adult, contemporary The Sin Trilogy erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on twenty five year old, former FBI Special Agent Bleu MacAllister, and heir to the Scottish Fellowship Crime syndicate twenty six year old Sinclair Breckenridge. Told from alternating first person points of view (Bleu and Sin) the focus of the storyline is two fold: the building relationship between Bleu and Sinclair; and Bleu’s revenge for the murder of her mother. Eighteen years earlier, Bleu’s mother was murdered and a seven year old Bleu was left for dead-asphyxiated by a well dressed man with a Scottish brogue. Fast forward to present day and Bleu’s need to avenge her mother’s death has become all encompassing. In order to get near the man she hopes to kill, Bleu will have to seduce the son and make him believe that she is the woman of his dreams. Falling in love with the enemy was never in the plans. Bleu is ‘obsessed with finding her attacker’ and she will have to infiltrate the world of organized crime. The relationship between Bleu and Sin is one of immediate attraction but Bleu is in Scotland to complete a job-kill Thane Breckenridge-the man she believes murdered her mother. Sinclair Breckinridge is a sexy, powerful, intelligent and dangerous man-the heir to the Fellowship Crime Syndicate and a man Bleu has been led to believe has no problems killing on demand. His attraction and need for Bleu finds Sinclair claiming Bleu as his own but in order to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love, Sinclair must risk his own life at the hands of the people he calls family and friends. Both Sin and Bleu face both internal and personal conflicts. The sex scenes are erotic and sensual. There is plenty of sexual tension between our leading couple. The secondary and supporting characters are an interesting mix of people with questionable pasts including Sinclair’s friends and fellow members of the Brotherhood (Leith, Jamie); former lovers; and Sinclair’s family (his father Thane, Uncle Abram , and mother Isobel) whose connection to Bleu’s mother’s death may not be everything Bleu has been led to believe. Bleu’s adopted father Harry MacAllister is a former FBI agent who has trained Bleu from an early age to protect and kill whenever necessary. The world building takes the reader behind the scenes of a dark and dangerous crime syndicate where proving your worth means risking your life at the hands of those in charge. Trust must be earned through pain and blood; fidelity must be sworn with your life; no one is safe when betrayal is discovered. Outsiders are definitely not welcome. There is some graphic violence and imagery but mostly implied behind the scenes. There is plenty of tension as the reader waits for Bleu’s true identity to be discovered. The plot takes an interesting twist when hints and clues are dropped about who may have been responsible for Bleu’s mother’s death. The storyline ends on a cliff hanger so be forewarned-you will want to read what happens next. A NECESSARY SIN is an enjoyable and fascinating read; an interesting take on the mob; revenge; and betrayal but there is an important detail left out of the equation. It is never revealed (or at least I am unable to find the information) how Bleu knew the identity of the man who murdered her mother and left Bleu for dead. Also, it was too easy for Bleu to get ‘inside the mob’. For a secretive organization, too many people were willing to reveal too much information to a stranger they knew nothing about.

Wow! I loved every second of this book! I was already a huge fan of Georgia Cates, but after this book, I am addicted.  It’s incredibly hard to make the reader love “the bad guy.” While Sin is not the villain if the book, he still falls into this category, to a point. However, Georgia Cates does a brilliant job of wrapping you up in his character and melting right into a puddle at his feet. Even his careless attitude at the beginning didn’t get in the way, it was what he knew and how he was raised. He didn’t understand the concept of love until Bleu came along. I loved that he was so intrigued, he was willing to work to have her. But even more, I am a huge fan of a character who doesn’t wait until he’s lost it, to appreciate what he has. Sin is a complex character, demanding and possessive, loving and generous, while being vulnerable to his feelings for Bleu. His sexy knows no bounds, I wanted to savor every moment he was on the page. Bleu is a fabulous female heroine. I was never annoyed by her, or frustrated with her actions and thoughts. She is strong and independent, and like Sin, she is conditioned not to care. However, she also has a great sense of humor and a vulnerability that lets love in when it finally presents itself. I understood her need for vengeance, although, as readers, we are on the outside looking in and we see the similarities in Sin and Bleu that they do not see themselves. Bleu doesn’t want to accept that her murder of Thane would put her right into the category that she first assigns to Sin. A murderer and criminal. However, she sees beyond to the real heart of Sin fairly quickly and that gave maturity and depth to her character, gaining my admiration.  These two run hot from the very beginning. I seriously needed a fan whenever they were together, they put the burner on high and the fire rages. There are some steamy scenes that will certainly inspire you in the bedroom!  As is often the case with a series, we are left hanging from a cliff, desperate to reach the next book! But damn, I am completely hooked on Sin and Bleu and I can’t wait to see where their story goes. 5 huge, fabulous stars!

Definitely a MUST read I have to confess that this is the first book I read by Georgia Cates. I know that everyone's been raving about The Pain Series but somehow I never managed to read it. So I decided that this new series is the perfect way to be introduced to this new to me author. And WOW!!! What an introduction that was. I was captivated by this book from the first few pages. With every single word I was more and more intrigued and was getting deeper and deeper into the story.  Bleu and Sin are such an amazing characters that I couldn't stop myself from loving them and being invested in their feelings and faiths. Their story is in a way romantic, heartbreaking and just simply said HOT. But on the other side, it is also dangerous, somewhat mysterious and with a touch of criminal (ok, not only a touch ;) ). I definitely enjoyed how against all odds they fell for each other and that changed them. In a way, it made them more vulnerable (especially towards each other) but it also made them stronger. Because together, they can definitely conquer every obstacle. The story provides quite a few twists and turns and I am sure that the next two parts will only add to that count. As a whole the book is written incredibly good. There aren't any slow or monotonous parts. There isn't even a moment where you can say "Ok. I can leave the book now and continue later." In my case, with every single page I read, I just wanted to read more, and more, and more. The characters in themselves are very well developed and it was quite easy for me to get attached to them. They felt real, even though if they existed in real life, they would be quite far from my everyday experience. In a few words, the story is amazing. It is captivating, intriguing, romantic in a way, and danger creeps around every corner. The suspense was haunting me every single minute while I was reading. And I have to say that now my curiosity is killing me to find out what will happen next :) I definitely recommend this book to everyone ho loves somewhat twisted romantic stories with a pinch of danger and suspense for taste :) I can guarantee that you won't regret reading the book. I for one, can't wait until the next part comes out :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Mrs. Cates, you've outdone yourself! Sweet Lord in Heaven... I. Am. Hooked. I am an avid reader and I honestly can not remember falling in love with a writing style and characters so fast. From the first chapter I was hooked (and sneaking peaks at my book during work so I could keep going!). It is a refreshingly different storyline, multi-faceted characters and twists and turns like Space Mountain. Wow-wee I simply can not wait to see what's next.

Wow wow wow that was my first reaction when reading just the first chapter in this new book by Georgia Cates...I fell in love with her writing with her Beauty series when she made all of us that have read it fall in love with Jack Henry.. I did not think that anyone could every replace him but let me tell you she has done it again..  I will warn you all that you will need your tissues early on in this book...within the first chapter I was sobbing and catching my breathe.. Bleu (the female lead in this book) is one tough female..she is FBI and determined to avenge the tragedy that took her family from her when she was a young child... she spends years training to seek revenge on Thane Breckenridge...an eye for an eye!  What she did not count on was how effected by Sinclair she would be...he is his father's son...he harbors secrets not even his own mother knows...he finds himself in a position he never expected as does Bleu.  Sin as she calls him is sexy, strong and a driven alpha male..the fact that this takes place in Scotland doesn't hurt either.  I will say that this ends with a cliffhanger so be prepared but never fear the second book comes out on February 9th so you do not have long to wait.  I knew I would love this book just as much as her others...Thank you Georgia Cates for another amazing start to what will be another fabulous series!

A Necessary Sin held me completely riveted from the very first page until I all too soon reached the end. I read it from cover to cover and never put it down. I am now counting the days until February 9th, the date we get The Next Sin, the next book in the series. The story was just so effortlessly told that it swept you up and took you along for the journey. We start the story off with Bleu's childhood and see what happens to set her off on the path she finds herself today. She is now on a personal mission to go after Thane Breckenridge, the leader of The Fellowship an organized crime brotherhood in Scotland and end his life. She has spent years studying his organization with her adopted father and knows it backward and forward. She decides her best in is through Thane's son Sinclair (Sin).  This book was jam-packed with drama, suspense, banter, action, loyalty, family, romance and sexiness - it was the perfect mix to keep you thoroughly entertained. It is not your typical mafia book as this crime family lives in Scotland so you get those sexy accents to top it all with too. The characters were rich and complex. Bleu is a tough little spitfire who also has a very innocent side to her. Sin is a hardened man who really only trusts his best friends, but has a heart buried deep inside just waiting to melt for the right woman. The two are very different and though Sin may not know it, on opposite sides. Yet they are truly perfectly suited for each other. Watching them fall for each other and learn to trust each other was just beautiful. I read the book cheering for them, but with a lump in my throat because I was always fearful of what could come next. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series! I NEED to know what comes next! I most definitely recommend this book! This may have been my first book by Georgia Cates but it will certainly NOT be my last!!! I received a complimentary copy, in exchange for an honest review
