I am glad this wasn't my first book by this author. It was good but her other books are excellent. I am not real sure I would have continued feeling the need to read the others. But her series about the Italy murders are fabulous. Some of my favorites.
A New Life By: Beate Boeker Do you like a murder mystery? Here’s a great one! Elizabeth Tiffany Mary Anne Smith is accused of murder. She is at the wrong place at the wrong time. After losing her friends and her job when she was acquitted of murdering her boyfriend in Seattle, she was encouraged to move to Florence, Italy by Giorgio, her uncle. He has arranged for her to get a job at a luxurious hotel. Peter Grant’s boss, Garibaldi, says to give Anne a job as a secretary in his hotel. Then Peter has to teach her Italian. Why would Garibaldi make him employ a secretary who has never worked in a hotel and doesn’t even speak Italian? Since he’s been without a secretary for a while, he figures this one is better than nothing. Anne believes Peter knows about her past. Can she trust him when someone else is murdered? Will Anne be accused again because of her past? Who will believe her? She is the last person to see the murdered victim. It is Seattle all over again. Will Peter believe her? I was pulled into the story from the start and love the characters. Anne is headstrong and speaks her mind. She is a little timid since her arrest in Seattle, but with Peter her true personality slips out. Peter is hardworking and dashingly handsome. The dialogue between Peter and Anne is engaging and keeps you turning the pages. You will never guess who is behind the murder in Italy! I can’t wait to read more books by Beate Boeker. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
