About the Author

My love of reading romance fiction goes back to those early years when I was raising a young family. It wasn't until much later in life I actually took up the pen to write. I wish I could have gotten to this point in my career much sooner rather than later but, life simply got in the way far too many times. I know because of those detours I have become a more passionate and expressive writer because I can draw upon those painful moments in my past when I need to create the kind of raw human emotion I want my readership to feel. My wish is that my readers walk away with not just an entertaining read but the importance in knowing, "Without imagination & dreams, we lose the excitement of wonderful possibilities." PLEASE leave a review to help others discover my work. I would be so very appreciative.

This book was very exciting and the suspense was gripping. You first meet Jessica who is burying her abusive husband who she never loved. She doesn’t feel anything while she is at the funeral but feel like she has been freed of him and his family especially his father. Jessica couldn’t leave her husband because she felt like she had nowhere else to go, she knew that her Aunt would have had her no problem but she didn’t want to bring her problems to her front door. The last time her husband put his hands on her was the night that he died and if she had to protect herself because of the abuse that she has had from him all these years she knew enough was enough and took action. After the funeral had finished, she wanted nothing more than to go home and think of how she could get away from her in-laws but her father-in-law had other ideas. After he told her that she was going to be his, her stomach nearly lost the contents because she was disgusted by him and his ways. When she arrived home that night she thought of nothing else than having a hot shower to scrub that day off her, when she came out of the bathroom there is her room stood her father-in-law telling her that he would have her no matter what. She told him of what happened to his son but he didn’t care at all. He had a smug look on his face that told her that he was a dangerous man. After that she knew that she had to get away, she had planned with her Aunt that she would leave the house first thing in the morning and live with her but that plan changed when she saw the men outside her house watching to make sure that she didn’t leave. So she acted fast and called a cab to meet her at the bottom of the street and the corner shop so that she could leave and never look and she didn’t. Bryan is a Senator and he loves his job. When he first meets Jessica he can’t help but fall for her. He knew from her Aunt that she was the person for the job that he had going on his staff, but what he didn’t know was going to happen shocked him to his core. He was a detective for more than 5 years and loved that job sometimes he wishes that he stayed. When he met Jessica again at the function he knew that he wanted to know everything there was to know about her and more. So when she agreed to work for him he knew he had his chance at getting to know her. On her first day on her new job and new life, she was accosted by some stranger and thought she was Bryan’s fiance. She was scared for the first time since her husband and she didn’t like it so she started taking classes and carrying a gun with her at all times. The story continues from that point on and it will draw you in and the last few chapters will not let you put the book down because you want to know what happens and to keep reading until you have finished. If you like suspense romance thriller books then read this one as it will keep you in suspense right up until the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, at first, with A PAWN FOR MALICE. While the synopsis sounded intriguing, mysteries are not usually what I gravitate towards in a book. I was pleasantly surprised. The story begins by introducing the reader to Jessica Wilton. She has been living in an abusive marriage, and after receiving a threat from her Father-in-Law, flees to her aunt’s house for safety and a new beginning. Landing a job in her profession of choice, and being surrounded by supportive friends and family have Jessica believing that life has finally settled. That the danger is a bad memory, left in the past. But she was wrong. Bryan Gallagher is a senator in New York, a former police detective and increasingly drawn to Jessica. When life takes an unexpected and dangerous turn for her, he is determined to stop at nothing to bring her back to the safety that she sought. I have to say, I love books with a strong, female character and Jessica does not disappoint. She has already proven to be a survivor, has a lot of spunk, and is determined to get what she wants out of life. And while Bryan’s character is equally as interesting and developed, I felt that Cynthia Roberts did an excellent job of keeping the romance towards the background, while maintaining a compelling, suspenseful storyline. I really, really enjoyed this book! I would start to think that maybe I had the mystery solved, only to be surprised by a plot twist. (Many plot twists, truth be told.) I found myself caught up in the emotions of the moment, needing to know what happened next, leaving me completely unable to put the book down. I was thoroughly hooked. If you find a book that enables you to forget about the world around you, hang on to that author for dear life. Bottom Line: An excellent read that keeps you guessing.

The story started at a scene that evokes deep emotions. It pulled me in and made me wonder what happened. A good book captures the readers' attention right away and holds it. Indeed, it's a suspenseful read as malice and violence seemed hot on Jessica Wilton's heels. The romance aspect of the story was somewhat underdeveloped because of the fast pace. The heroine has been leading a very exciting life at such a young age that I sometimes doubt the veracity of her character. I hope that equal attention was given to Bryan Gallagher's side of the story. Although this book needed more editorial attention, the latter part was even more captivating. I really enjoyed the exhilarating moments when I thought that the antagonists were right there when she turned. I also find the historical facts in the story fascinating. I would recommend this book to folks who like suspense.

For a short read, it's fabulous. I say short read, but you won't put it down until you finish it... the 2 main characters felt real as did the family matriarch!

Heat Level: 2 flames out of 5 Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5 This is an exciting workplace romance that takes place in the Capital building of New York State in Albany, New York. I love mysteries and this book is full of them. Jessica starts a new job for Senator, Bryon Gallagher. Jessica has just gotten out of a very abusive relationship and the death of her husband won’t stop the abuse that her father-in-law is now set to torment her with. Now she is safe under her aunt’s care and she has a new job with a very sexy Senator. When Jessica is kidnapped, the senator teams back up with his former partner when he was a detective to bring back the woman that makes his world make sense. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. The pacing was fast and exciting. I loved the ending with all the twists. The story could have had more character development, but as a shorter story, it works well. I really did enjoy reading this story. Reading a book that includes places that I have been always makes them more enjoyable to me.
