Lucie has determined never to marry despite her grandmother's future plans. But the sudden death of her guardian precipitates a crisis, and Lucie is forced to choose.

Richard seems the lesser of two evils, and he has promised an annulment - a tempting solution to a dangerous dilemma that will allow her to escape a menacing courtship by a man she loathes. But can she trust a stranger she has only just met? Or will she find herself trapped in an equally perilous marriage?

This is a tale of two very different houses, the people who lived within them, and the love and hatred that held them captive.

About the Author

Married, an artist trained in the restoration of Oils and Water Colours, she bought a Picture Gallery. Retiring finally to Cornwall with her husband, leaving the business to her son, she took on her second ambition to become an author. She wrote and arranged publication of an anniversary magazine for the village where they lived. Successful, it sold well to villagers and tourists to the local Flower Shows.

Moving to a new area, she sustained a bad accident. On crutches for two years after operations, she had only a computer to restore her belief in recovery and set her on a path of writing novels. Three thrillers came of this endeavour, plus an interview on Radio Cornwall, media coverage and book signings. Another three historicals followed, all advertised on Amazon with sales in UK; Australia; America and are also in Kindle. She has never had a disparaging comment from her readers; they enjoy the books and ask when the next one will be ready.

Her imagination still keeps handing out the next plot, so she is never at a loss for something to do or dreams to turn into words. And one greatest benefit is making friends from all around the world and her emails are the first she reads every day, exchanging news with like-minded people.

To those that want to be an author, the road is not easy to travel, but keep trying as it is never too late to dream and one should never give up hope of being published!
