Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite A Pet for Me by Rosalind Abbott is a beautiful story for children about caring and sharing. Pets always add to the charm of a family group and have a space of their own in the house. They should be loved and taken care of well. Having a pet brings a certain amount of responsibility to the child who is taught that when you have a pet, you have to take care of it, too. That duty teaches every child a certain amount of responsibility and is a way of keeping them occupied. A Pet for Me is a book that will appeal to all children. The illustrations are lively and colorful, and make all the characters come alive. It introduces the concept of owning pets very beautifully and it explains how each pet should be taken care off. It teaches a child to be responsible too, which is excellent. The children can train their pets and make them also responsible and obedient. It is a beautiful book with a message which is delightful and endearing and will keep the child reader engaged. It would make a good bedtime read and is also ideal for read-aloud sessions in the library and classroom.
