This is my 1st pirate vampire book and I must say it is an interesting, intriguing combination that I love and would recommend to others. Its a full body fit with love and challenges with the determination to live. Kane and Hannah is a great fit with Kane protecting and determination of extablishing her self indepency. Hane belief in her made her realised that she is of value and not a bartering tool of her father. I am glad they stuck together and would have loved if the book was longer to see what became of them. Great read.

Reviewed by Robin Book provided by the author for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book When I first choose this book I thought I was in for a sexy pirate story. Oh, was I ever wrong. I not only had sexy pirates but sexy pirates who were also vampires. It made for an interesting read. Of which seemed slow and forced at times. Hannah Knight and her father are rescued by hunky Capt. Kane O’Brien. Kane is trying to find a cure for his curse. After the initial shock that Hannah wasn’t a cabin boy but a full-fledged woman Kane found himself attracted. Hannah in the meantime also was attracted to Kane. Both were not as they appeared. Kane was a Vampire and Hannah had Telekinetic powers. A match made in heaven. Well at least there was chemistry. I was surprised at first by the twist of the Pirate/being a Vampire but I have to admit it kind of worked. I forgot to mention these were not the normal Vampire type of legend but more like werewolves because they only changed during a full moon. Kane was traveling trying to find a cure for the curse. Hannah on the other hand was running from a bad fiancé. Dare I mention the demons… I wouldn’t want to spoil too much for you. I was intrigued with the storyline even if it was a little slow in spots. The new take on the vampire legend and the old mix of colonial life was nice. I found it was hard to find myself bonding with the characters they were a little different not as well rounded as I would have liked. I also found that the ending seemed a little rushed. I did enjoy the fiery passion that Zane and Hannah had. It was true to what you would expect. Overall I liked the whole idea of Pirates/Vampires. Anyone who enjoys historical romance with a touch of the paranormal or Pirate’s/Vampires just may enjoy the new twist ML Guida gives to this story.

Vampires attack and sink a merchant ship, killing everyone on board except the merchant and his daughter, Hannah Knight. Hannah was being taken to St. Kitts to be married to a plantation owner. Another ship, a pirate ship called the Soaring Phoenix arrives to drive off the vampires and rescue Hannah and her father. The captain of the ship, Kane O’Brien, believes she is a cabin boy, however, once her secret is discovered, Kane is drawn to her but she tries to keep her distance. Kane decides to hand her over to the demon that cursed him, turning him and his crew into vampires. He wants to relieve them from the curse. But unlike Quinton Palmer, the vampire who sunk the ship Hannah was on, Kane has morals and hates the vampire within him, hates what he becomes on the full moon. Then he discovers Hannah’s other secret, she has powers that saves his ship and he vows to protect her with his life. The romance will have to overcome two men who are determined to take Hannah from him and Kane will have to fight to save his crew, his ship, and the woman he loves. A Pirate’s Curse was a surprise. The combination of pirates and vampires was interesting. M.L. Guida’s vampires are also different, they can be in the light, they can turn into bats, and there are two distinct groups of vampires. Captain Quinton Palmer’s vampires are vicious, without mercy, and are vampires all the time. Captain Kane O’Brien’s crew are vampires only on the full moon due to a lack of contact with the demon who cursed both crews. The play between Hannah and Kane was a lot of fun. She kept trying not to fall for the tall, dark captain who had saved her. She worried about his reactions to her unpredictable powers. He worries about her reactions to his vampirism and tries not to fall for her beauty and her innocence. Once they figure it out, they keep having things put into their way. Her fiancé, Jacques D’Aubigna, while rich, is not what he seems, her father has ulterior motives, and the coming fights kept me turning pages, eager to see what happened next. I devoured the book, reading almost all of it straight through and until very early in the morning. I like books like this, books that don’t let me put them down until I reach the end. And the author has said there will be more stories for me to savor.

I love Guida’s writing style.  Everything’s just there and you’re in it.  She very accurately and intriguingly builds her scenes until they are vividly real.  She also makes brilliant use of allusion and metaphor to paint an amazing scene.  I didn’t just visualise this story, I lived it alongside the characters.  Even though this novel is paranormal & historical in nature Guida has developed everything in such a manner that you are right there with the characters. She does a brilliant job of making this novel historical and pirate while being fun, unique and unforgettable.   The main characters were great.  They were fully developed, well rounded individuals.  I loved how they showed real & realistic emotions throughout.  They were also the perfect contrast to one another.  Although all of the secondary characters were well developed and suited their roles perfectly.  I found some of them a little difficult to identify with, however that suited their roles in the story quite well. Overall, this was a great read.  Saying that I read this in 1 sitting is an understatement.  The rest of the world dropped away while I was lost in its pages.  I definitely can’t wait for more in this brilliant series.  I would have continued on right then and there had I had any others.  I’d definitely recommend it to anyone.   Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great love story. The characters were well brushed out with a twist at times. I found many humorous sidelines and will look forward to more in the future

A Pirate’s Curse is an honest to god vampire pirate book, and I enjoyed every minute of it! Kane is just yummy. Not only is he rugged and sexy, he has a brogue, who can resist brogue! Kane is not all that he appears, not unlike a werewolf, he turns into a vampire on the night of the full moon. I though this was a unique spin on the vampire myth. When Kane and his pirate crew rescue Hannah and her father after their ship had been attacked and sunk, he believes her to be a cabin boy. When her true gender is revealed he is tempted by her and her beauty. Hannah herself has a secret, she is telekinetic. Kane has resisted her charms, with much frustration. Hell he even thought about selling her to a demon! When she saves his crew from his immortal enemy, he cannot resist her any longer/ The chemistry between Hannah and Kane is tangible. They are drawn to each other from the moment that they meet (and Kane finds out she is a girl!) Hannah has a lot of spunk, and definitely tests Kane’s patience. Hannah and Kane’s road to their happily ever after is littered with different obstacles, vampire pirates notwithstanding, they must defeat Hannah’s fiancé and a demon as well! I cannot wait to see what is going to be in the next book…maybe zombies! This a book for historical romance and paranormal romance fans! So drink up me’ hardies, yo ho! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
