A group of friends, all veterans of the War Between the States and the fall of the Second Mexican Empire, leave North America looking for new adventures in Europe, South America and the Caribbean Sea. One finds it in the Kingdom of Prussia which after its defeat of the Second French Empire has led all German states into the establishment of the Second German Empire, while another finds it in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Two find it in South America; one in the Amazon Region of Venezuela and the other in the Brazilian Empire. The world is changing and they with it. All will meet in friendship but some this time around may find themselves in opposite sides on a battlefield. Most have tempered their romantic adventures finding their mates for life.
