Love's Light Shines

Love and the art of it,
humanness and the exploration of it,
make life worth living.
Love is the fullness of our life,
clears our mind,
aligns our character
with God's grand design,
lifts our spirit to freely join
with Him, with others,
in joy and vitality.

Sharing love sets our spirit free,
shining among us is the light of God's glory,
bringing us through our human nature
to fulfilling peace, to greater harmony.

God's love
is our greatest story,
our greatest security.
His glory will ever stay, will never part,
with Jesus Christ in our heart.
Our light of love
will truly shine,
when our light of love
becomes divine.

John 17:15 & 26, & John 14:23

15 "I pray not that You should take them out of the
world, but that You should keep them from the evil one."
26 ... "I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it:
that the love with which You have loved Me
may be in them, and I in them."

John 17:15 & 26

23 Jesus answered ... "If anyone loves Me, he will keep
My words: and My Father will love him ..."

John 14:23

A Sailor's Song

I sail toward my destination, home,
discovering many lands,
by way of many hands.

Through many seas I have roamed,
steering my way through many a gale,
withstanding storms that tore many a sail.

Having endured the seawater's mighty turbulence,
I survived strong sea currents
rushing at the heart of the ship.

Happily, I've met with sailors
of fair, of just varieties.
Afloat together, we travelled on many seas,
where with dedication,
sweating, hard at work,
we discovered inspiration to do all we learnt.
With cooperation, and all senses alert,
with passion toward our many tasks,
we maintained a harmony that lasts,
sustaining our abundant livelihood,
turning many misfortunes into good.

We have sailed with a healthy breeze,
our faith in God bringing us peace.
Diligently we stopped water leaks set to sink us,
carefully repaired broken trusts,
mended broken rigs and frayed ropes,
to delightfully behold,
our fishing nets brimming as full as our hopes.

Our way across many a sea
has become a successful journey
as we endure, our navigation sure,
sailing the way of our captain, Jesus Christ,
where we have come to know
that through a beautiful world we sail,
for the Spirit of God we hail,
gliding along, singing a sailor's song,
with joy in love abounding
like ocean waves leaping.

John 15:9-11, Isaiah 43:16, & Psalm 33:3-7 & 11

* * *

9 "As the Father has loved Me,
so have I loved you: continue in My love.

10 If you keep My commandments,
you shall abide in My love; even as I
have kept My Father's commandments, and
abide in His love. 11
These things have
I spoken to you, that My joy might
remain in you, and that your
joy might be full."

John 15:9-11

16 ... the Lord, ... makes a way in the sea, and
a path in the mighty waters.

Isaiah 43:16

3 Sing to Him a new song;
play skillfully with a shout of joy.
4 ... all His works are done in truth.
5 He loves righteousness and judgment: the
earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. 6 By
the word of the Lord were the heavens made....
7 He gathers the waters of the sea together....
11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
the thoughts of His heart to
all generations.

Psalm 33:3-7 & 11

I Aim for Love

My life is an arrow.
I am its bow.
The love in my sight,
greater than the love I show.

God's love grows
as I aim,
keeping His target,
Jesus Christ,
in my sight.

With faith,
I center in my stance,
as a greater love I chance.

Jesus Christ helps me be ready,
the Holy Spirit guides,
keeping my eyes, my hands, steady,
keeping me from extremes,
aligning my sight,
making sure my aim is keen.

I pull the bow with all my might,
praying for God to guide
my arrow's flight.

Gratefulness is my offering
as my arrow becomes one
with what in my sight I have seen.

Deuteronomy 6:5-6, & Ephesians 3:16-21

5 ... you shall love
the Lord your God with all
your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your might. 6
And these words,
which I command you this day,
shall be in your heart....

Deuteronomy 6:5-6

16 That He would grant you,
according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the
inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by
faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may
be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth,
and length, and depth, and height, 19 and to know the love
of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might
be filled with all the fullness of God. 20
Now to Him Who is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according
to the power that works in us, 21 To Him be glory
in the church by Christ Jesus throughout
all ages, world without end.
Amen.

Ephesians 3:16-21

Magnificent Views

When above my own understanding
I have risen,
God's greater truth is seen.

I grow in Jesus Christ,
nurtured on by pure intentions of being.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10, Psalm 19:7-8,
1 John 1:9, & 1 John 3:2-3

9 ... as it is written, eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
which God has prepared for those who love Him. 10 But
God has revealed them to us by His Spirit....

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

* * *

7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
converting the soul: the testimony of the
Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The
statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes.

Psalm 19:7-8

9 If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

2 ... we shall be like Him; for we
shall see Him as He is. 3 And every
man that has this hope in Him
purifies himself, even as He is pure.

1 John 3:2-3

Defined Boundaries

What is perfection?
Love! Light!
Where is it found?
I know ...
within my heart,
where God's life is aglow.

What is imperfection?
Darkness? Ignorance?
Where can it be found?
I know ...
in troubled waters,
where doubt moves,
like a wiggly little sel-fish,
in whose dark depths,
no faith abounds,
nor light to see.

1 John 1:5, & James 1:6-8

5 This then is the message
which we have heard from Him,
and declare to you, that God is light,
and in Him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5

6 ... let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he
who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven with the
wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man suppose that
he will receive anything of the Lord. 8 A double-minded
man is unstable in all his ways.

James 1:6-8

True Courage

God's love transforms fear.
Feel the power.
Draw it near,
fair and just,
as tough as it must.

Miracles pervade
as I step from fear's shade.
Faith in God's love
opens me
to the power of His light,
transforming
calamity to adventure.

Oh my heart,
courage is here!
The path to understanding,
to peaceful action,
through Jesus Christ, is clear.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14, & Matthew 5:44-45

13 Watch, stand fast in the faith,
be brave, be strong. 14 Let all you do
be done with love.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

44 ... I say to you, love your enemies,
bless those who curse you, do good to those who
hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you,
and persecute you; 45 That you may be the children
of your Father in heaven: for He makes His sun
rise on the evil and on the good, and sends
rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 5:44-45

Sacred is the Scary

Things have gotten awfully scary.
Trembling,
I want to fight,
no,
hide.
Impossible to conquer either way,
I quiver inside.
Things have gotten horrid,
so I decide to stand
where love,
where Jesus Christ's salvation
has not for a long time.
In taking a prayerful stance,
my new reaction to happenstance,
I find the Holy Spirit is able to teach,
so I can reach
the combination of acceptance
and of right actions I can do
that allows God's love to see us through!

1 Peter 4:12-13 & 19, & John 14:16-18 & 27

* * *

12 Beloved, think it not strange
concerning the fiery trial which is to try
you, as though some strange thing happened
to you: 13 But rejoice, as you are partakers
of Christ's sufferings; that, when His
glory shall be revealed, you
may be glad also.

19 Wherefore let those who suffer
according to the will of God commit the
keeping of their souls to Him in well
doing, as to a faithful Creator.

1 Peter 4:12-13 & 19

16 ... "I will pray the Father, and He will
give you another Comforter, that He may abide
with you forever; 17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom
the world cannot receive, because it sees Him not,
neither knows Him: but you know Him; for He
dwells with you, and shall be in you. 18 I
will not leave you comfortless...."

27 "Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you: not as
the world gives, give I to you. Let not
your heart be troubled, neither
let it be afraid."

John 14:16-18 & 27

Descending Lights

Dare to live.
Dare to be.
Dare to live
in God's grace,
shining for all to see.
Dare to be,
as Jesus gives us,
in our humanness, our liberty
to fully love our individuality.

Dare to live
your whole life story.
Dare to be
in the power of God's glory,
in His freely shining love,
content to be unique,
learning His wisdom,
learning from mistakes,
confessing,
brave to be,
in Jesus Christ
daring to shine free,
forgiven.

Turning away from the darkness of evil,
into God's goodness, in His love,
we come into our eternal destiny,
as our life shines
into our heartfelt dreams.

Psalm 8:4-5 & 9, Philippians 3:12-14,
Proverbs 11:24, & John 3:3 & 16

* * *

4 What is man,
that You are mindful of him?
and the son of man, that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the
angels, and have crowned him with glory
and honor. 9 O Lord, our Lord, how
excellent is Your name
in all the earth!

Psalm 8:4-5 & 9

12 Not that I have already attained, or am
already perfected: but I follow after, that I may
lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has
also laid hold of me. 13
Brethren, I count
not myself to have apprehended:
but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and
reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the
high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14

24 There is one who scatters, yet increases
more; and there is one who withholds more than
is right, but it leads to poverty.

Proverbs 11:24

3 Jesus answered
and said to him, "Verily, verily, I
say to you, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God."

16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him
should not perish, but have
everlasting life."

John 3:3 & 16

Images

God is love.
What does that mean?

Light of the sun,
breath in my lung,
number one,
Creator.

God is the love in my heart,
the truth I speak,
kindness lent to others,
inspiration,
actions born of aspiration.
God is Father, Counselor, Comforter,
the Unseen beyond,
the One within my heart,
seen in Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 42:5-6, 1 John 1:5 & 4:16

* * *

5 ... says God the Lord, He
Who created the heavens ... He Who
gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those
who walk on it: 6 "I the Lord have called you in
righteousness, and will hold your hand,
and will keep you...."

Isaiah 42:5-6

5 This then is the message which we have
heard of Him and declare to you, that God is
light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5

16 And we have known and believed the
love that God has for us. God is love; and he
who dwells in love dwells in God,
and God in him.

1 John 4:16

Action

If love is akin to truth,
truth akin to love,
then action needs to follow.

In God I am,
His laws I know,
by the Holy Spirit I grow,
in the love of Jesus Christ I heal,
for Him my best I do ...
Integrity is part of my being real.

1 John 3:18-19, John 16:13-14, & 2 John 1:3

18 My little children, let us
not love in word or in tongue; but in
deed and in truth. 19
And by this we know
that we are of the truth, and shall assure
our hearts before Him.

1 John 3:18-19

13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth,
is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will
not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears,
that will He speak; and He will show you things
to come. 14 He will glorify Me ...".

John 16:13-14

3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace,
from God the Father, and from the Lord
Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father,
in truth and love.

2 John 1:3

* * *

Sunbeams Peering Through

In winter's cold,
in quiet, gloomy broods,
we know God's love.
For the better, it changes our moods.

We greet the fire
that love brings,
when love's divine life
in our heart does sing,
when we know peace,
one of God's
many manifesting ways
like warmth in the cold,
like the profoundness of broods.

Romans 5:1-4

1 Therefore, being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ: 2 By Whom also we have access by
faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice
in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that,
but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that
tribulation works patience; 4 and patience,
experience; and experience, hope....

* * *

The Circle

God's love,
when I circle all around it,
it doesn't shine through,
some call it an ego issue.

With Jesus Christ in my heart,
God's love shines through,
touching all
with His divine beauty,
with justice too.

Philippians 2:3-4, & Galatians 5:24-26

3 Let nothing be done through
strife or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each
esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not
every man on his interests, but every man
also on the interests of others.

Philippians 2:3-4

24 And those who are Christ's have
crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the
Spirit. 26 Let us not be conceited, provoking
one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:24-26

* * *

Helping Hands

"I love you,"
one says to the other,
"Come take my hand.
Together we will walk through this land,"

with warm embraces,
expressive faces,
helping hands.

Hebrews 13:1-3, & 1 John 4:7

* * *

1 Let brotherly love continue.
2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by
doing so, some have entertained angels unawares.
3 Remember the prisoners as if bound with them, and
those who suffer adversity, being that you
yourselves are also in the body.

Hebrews 13:1-3

7 Beloved, let us love
one another, for love is of God;
and everyone who loves is born of
God, and knows God.

1 John 4:7

* * *

Love through Sorrow

Clouds gather
with a sadness so real,
the world growing dark
with what you feel.
Tears well up,
cleanse as you cry,
feelings released,
a sad situation realized.

Your heart, welcoming
Jesus Christ to shine,
brings His light any time,
that when touching upon
the water of your tears,
causes a wondrous rainbow to appear,
as God's love through sorrow,
in comfort, and in wisdom,
in time, brings cheer.

Good love to you.
May God's eternal, blessed light
shine upon all you do!

Isaiah 61:1-3, Ecclesiastes 7:2-4,
& 1 John 4:19 & 5:3-4

* * *

1 "The Spirit of the Lord God
is upon Me; because
the Lord has anointed Me to preach
good tidings to the meek;
He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives ...
2 ... to comfort all who mourn;
3 ... to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy
for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit
of heaviness; that they might be called trees
of righteousness, the planting of the
Lord, that He may be glorified."

Isaiah 61:1-3

2 It is better to go to the house of mourning,
than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end
of all men; and the living will take it to heart.
3 Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the
countenance the heart is made better. 4 The heart of
the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart
of fools is in the house of mirth.

Ecclesiastes 7:2-4

19 We love Him, because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19

* * *

3 For this is the love of God,
that we keep His commandments; and His
commandments are not grievous. 4 For whatever
is born of God overcomes the world: and this is
the victory that overcomes the world
—your faith.

1 John 5:3-4
