A Rake’s Rebellion ⭐️⭐️⭐️ After a night of debauchery, Lord Barclay wakes up to find a woman in his bed. That's not unusual, but this one is fully clothed. When she tells him they are married, he is instantly cold sober and looking for a way out. Miss Sarah Vincent, an orphan raised in an American convent, didn’t ask for this marriage. She’ll be damned if it’s in name only. But seducing a man? How ever will she do that?! Good thing her friend lent her a copy of The Kama Sutra…. Brice starts to wonder what has come over his young wife. She’s suddenly taking charge of him, and their house, and no longer the timid woman he assumed her to be. Despite his aversion to this marriage he’s starting to want his wife…in every way possible. This is the third book in the series that can be read as a stand alone. You meet the characters from the previous books who play into the current story line with ease. This was a very slow read during the first 80% of the book, but once it took off it wrapped up quickly. While I enjoyed reading it I often became bored with the repetition and easily walked away to do something else. Definitely not a page turner, but still worth the read if you have the patience. I had a hard time believing that a convent raised woman who is a virgin bride/wife was gifted and reading the Kama Sutra. The “rake” husband refuses to bed his wife yet is jealous of his male friends who befriend the virgin bride. Meanwhile the “fox” has nearly free access to the hen... I received this ARC for free in exchange for my honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Brice wakes up the morning after celebrating the nuptials of his best friend to find a fully clothed woman in his bed. Finding a woman in his bed is a normal occurrence, but they are not normally clothed and telling him that they are now married... Sarah is tricked into marrying Brice by her cousin and her cousin's husband. The two decide that there is nothing to be done about the marriage, so decide to make the best of the situation. Each of them going their own way and not interfering with the other's life. But Sarah's friend gives her a copy of The Kama Sutra and she has second thoughts about making the marriage one in truth. Brice starts to see the confidence his wife is starting to gain and is intrigued by her transformation. Can what started as a marriage of convenience turn to one of love? I really enjoyed Sarah and Brice's story. I loved watching Sarah come into her own as she gained her confidence. I also really enjoyed the fact that Sarah wanted to help those in need. So many that would have found themselves elevated to a higher class in society would have forgotten where they came from. This was a great conclusion to this trilogy and it was awesome to see the other H/H from the other books.

Another great book by Cynthia Breeding. Sarah and Brice find themselves married by unscrupulous means, and are forced not to proceed with annulment in order to protect Sarah's reputation. But, staying married doesn't mean things should change in the life of Brice, a rake around town. So they agree to a marriage in name only. Sarah is lost and doesn't know what she is supposed to do with her time, and finds herself in a wonderful position to volunteer at a poorhouse teaching children how to read and write. She is a wonderful teacher, and loved by both the children and those unconventional members of the ton , but cannot find a way to entice her husband to make their's a real marriage. When Brice makes an enemy one night playing cards, his wife becomes they target of revenge, and saving Sarah'a life will become the only thing that matters to Brice. If he is able to save Sarah, will she be willing to stay with him and build a life together? An easy, fun , fasted pace read. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book starts with Lord Barclay waking up after a night of drinking in bed with a fully dressed woman in his bed. When she tells him that they are married, his wheels start turning looking for a way out. Sarah Vincent, is an orphan who was raised in an American convent. She didn't ask for this marriage but she's willing to try if only her groom wasn't set on keeping their marriage in name only. This book is a bit of a slow burn. Their first kiss doesn't happen till some point near the end. But the story definitely kept me interested. Sarah has to figure out how to fit into the social scene even though she has no interest. With the help of Lady Caroline, a new wardrobe is ordered and when her husband sees her and notices she has a figure that she once hid under her drab dresses. When he observes other men taking notice of his wife, he does not like it and tries to stamp down the feelings it brings up. They both want to make this a real marriage but both have a hard time expressing this. He doesn't want her to think he's going back on their original agreement and Sarah's inexperience leaves her unsure of how to seduce her husband. This was my first time reading a book by this author and I really enjoyed her writing. I'm looking forward to reading the first two books in this series. A Rake's Rebellion by Cynthia Breeding is a fun historical romance between an epic bad boy and an innocent young lady brought up in a convent. The two are tricked into a marriage and have their work cut out for them. He is a titled Lord who spends his time and money gambling and on women. She is an orphan without a proper title. Together they make a great pair and the chemistry sizzles. Well written and entertaining, I like the plot and sub=plots. A Rake's Rebellion is Book 3 of Cynthia Breedings Rake Trilogy. I read it as a stand alone and enjoyed it very much, but would also like to know more about other characters featured in the trilogy. Thank you to NetGalley, Cynthia Breeding, and Entangled Publishing for this digital advanced reader copy of A Rake's Rebellion for me to read and enjoy. As always, my opinions are my own.

"I would rather you not touch me, your lordship." Not touch her? Hell. What have I done? How foxed had he gotten last night? "Why are you in my bed, Miss Vincent?" A blush stole over her cheeks and she lowered her gaze."We were married last night." "Very funny, Miss Vincent. Clever, even." Thinking she was playing a job on him that she and their friend Caroline had dreamed up. Of all people Miss Vincent was an orphan, newly arrived from America. Thus the journey began. They were indeed married, Brice, Lord Barclay and Sarah. With no way out he promptly determined they would have a marriage in name only and see how they go on. One shy young lady who wants to have a real marraige and a lot of ups and downs and a transformation bring this story along quickly having me turning the pages delightedly! Loved it Lori Dykes

Another rogue falls. Brice is mourning the fact that his two best friends have gotten married when he also ends in the same position. This is something he never wanted. Sarah is out of her depth in London society. She is an orphan who grew up in a convent. The people who were supposed to protect her has tricked her into marriage. These two forge ahead trying to make peace with their situation and try to make a way forward. The author tells a tale of discovery and redemption. Love blossoms and flowers as they realize that they are better together than apart.

It's an interesting and well written historical romance novel and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The beginning is the most interesting part and it just draws the readers in and keeps them intrigued. I also loved the characters and I think that the ending was no less amazing. The pacing of the story is perfect and it has all the right ingredients; romance, humor, characters that grow with the story, and strong writing. I'd definitely recommend it to historical fiction fans. Sarah is an American raised in a convent. She isn't ready for a life in London but circumstances have forced her to do so. Unfortunately, she now finds herself married to a man who doesn't desire her and doesn't like the idea of marriage at all. She herself isn't sure about what she wants but one thing is clear, she has no choice in the matter so she must make her marriage work. It may not be as bad as she fears after all. Brice has never imagined himself to be married. Yet, he finds himself married to a woman he knows nothing about. There is no way he will cause the said woman any harm so he decides to stay married but on his terms. What he didn't expect were the complications that arise from their arrangement. Now, he is feeling things he wasn't supposed to feel. Does their marriage stand a chance or are they doomed to get hurt anyway?
