As the host of her own television news show, Faith Marin works to expose the truth for her viewers. But in her personal life, she's anchored her world with firm boundaries in order to hide a family history she'd like to forget. Her pro bass fisherman husband Geary's life is an open book, and unfortunately his busybody family doesn't know the meaning of boundaries. Deception and crippling differences soon derail their tender relationship, leading Faith to believe her only option is to end the marriage. But while Faith considers whether divorce is the only answer to their issues, tragedy strikes and her heartrending decision is interrupted. With her life in the balance, Faith finds that the one she has been shutting out may be the very one she cannot bear to lose.

Kellie Coates Gilbert takes readers on an emotional roller coaster as she weaves themes of unexpected trial, self-discovery, and forgiveness in this profoundly honest portrait of the tensions that can break a marriage—and the ultimate healing power of love.

For the most part I stick to historical fiction, but this is based loosely on events that happened in the more recent past. Faith Marin is a talented investigative reporter, whose star is on the rise. She has a rigid expectation for her life, with deep rooted issues her guiding force. Then Geary comes into her life - a relaxed professional angler, from a preacher's family. Their love story has constant up and downs. Faith is not used to the loving, Christian family she marries into and resists it. Her God is her career, until a series of events bring about a major change in her life and her family. Very well written. The Christian message is very softly told, could have been illustrated better. But you'll want to read to the very end to reach the fullness of the story. I have really been enjoying Kellie Coates Gilbert’s Texas Gold series of books and A Reason to Stay is my favorite right now. This was such a beautiful yet terrifying story. Beautiful due to love: a husband’s, a family’s, a sister’s, and the heart of a mother. Terrifying because of man’s inhumanity to man. First and foremost this novel is a book about marriage. How sometimes it is really hard to let go and compromise instead of just seeing a lawyer and seemingly taking the easy way out. Marriage is worth sticking together. There were faults on both sides of this couple’s lives just as there always is. Faith was maybe to career oriented and Geary didn’t set up boundaries with his family. I was cheering for this couple all the way through and wanted them to stick together and when tragedy struck them, well I cheered for them all the more. This was a poignant story of family, marriage, regrets, forgiveness, and second chances all for the sake of love, true love. I received a copy for an honest review from Revell Publishing and the opinions are my own.

A truly moving story... Another moving story from Kellie Coates Gilbert. A Reason To Stay starts out with a bang and takes readers on an emotional journey with Faith Marin as she tries to navigate a new marriage and tragic events that change her life. I started following Kellie Coates Gilbert's writing a few years back after reading her story Mother Of Pearl. I have sincerely enjoyed each of her Texas Gold Novels, eagerly awaiting the release of each new title. She has such a way of writing that immerses the reader, even when the characters lives are very different, into the story and emotionally involving them in every way. In the author's note she mentions how this story was personal for her and I completely understood that. After the traumatic event that changes Faith's life she has a long road to healing, one that was somewhat familiar to me. One of the things I have appreciated about Kellie Coates Gilbert's novels is her portrayal of women in such different times in life. In A Reason To Stay Faith is a young career woman, newly married, and trying to balance it all. This book deals with the deeper issues of a floundering marriage and ambition at all costs. A Reason To Stay is a story will resonate with women, one that will stick with the reader long after last page is turned. (I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

We are defined by the events of our lives unless we decide to change... A Reason to Stay A Texas Gold Novel #3 By Kellie Coates Gilbert Faith Martin appeared to have it all. A journalist early in her career on a highly motivated upward path, a marriage to a successful, champion sports fisher - what more could she want? But Faith's life was more than the outer package that she had so carefully crafted for the world to see. But when a tragic incident occurs, Faith's carefully crafted image is about to crumble and she'll learn that even something broken can be fixed if only she will allow it to take place. A Reason to Stay starts with the incident that is about to change Faith's life. We are then taken from the present to the not too distant past - the beginning of Faith's phenomenal career launch, with a few bumps along the way. Faith's story is then a forward progression that that alternates between both past and present events to tell a story that is both moving and healing. Faith's story is like that of many others - no we don't all suffer from a traumatic event that has quite the same effect as Faith. But rather we allow hurts from the past to shape us into whom we are today. The question one must ask one's self is did I allow this hurt to stay broken or did I allow it to heal? Hurts all too often are allowed to twist our thinking so that in trying to prevent future pain we further damage ourselves. This is Faith's journey to discover which path she chose and a chance to rethink and reexamine her options before she makes a choice that can't be undone. I have to be honest in some of the instances where Faith has trouble with her husband Geary's family I can totally see her point. I also think of her in-laws, Geary's father seems to best see Faith's point of view. Family can be interesting to say the least and Geary's and Faith's are no exception. The Texas Gold books are standalone titles. There is no particular order that these books have to be read in as each deals with different people. Texas and family are the themes that these books have in common. Each person faces a potentially life-altering situation that could destroy them or make them stronger. It is how one faces this trial that determines who they will become. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher Revell in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a wonderful romance. I could not put it down. At first I had a hard time liking Faith but then she grows on you as you learn more and more about her. I liked Geary but he was a big mama's boy. Family is important but not as important as your spouse. They both had some problems during this marriage. I look forward to reading the next book in this Texas Gold collection. I received this book from Revell reads for a fair and honest opinion.

Nutshell: This is book 3 in the Texas Gold Collection. Faith Marin has it all. The perfect job. The perfect husband. The perfect life. Or so it seems. She is climbing the ladder at the TV station she has dedicated her life to. Her sights are set on being a news anchor at a national station. But with her dedication to work, her marriage comes in second place and not long after saying "I do" things start to become strained and fall apart. In the blink of an eye, tragedy strikes and Faith now has to reevaluate her life, her marriage and her priorities. Pro's: What a great book! It was a stand alone book even though it is in a series. I loved the story line, how the characters were portrayed, the battle put before Faith, the deep love and of course, the outcome. Kellie Coates Gilbert did a fantastic job keeping the reader engaged and hungry to read until the wee hours of the morning just to finish the book. What a heart string pulling book that takes you through the past of the main character and weaves it in to the present. Con's: I wish it was longer! The only thing that could've been different was the cover. But what was behind the cover was amazing! Recommendation: Read this book! There are not a lot of books that I will stay up late reading. This was one of them. Such a heart warming, heart wrenching good book that you won't be able to put down! Revell Books sent me this complimentary book to review for them. Opinions expressed are my own.

Faith finds herself unhappy with her life. In her work she exposes much about others and wants her life to be different. Unfortunately her husbands family is a bit more involved in her life than she wants. She finds herself torn as to how to handle this invasion of privacy to the point of wanting to walk away from it all. I liked seeing how Faith was able to see beyond the present and really look to the future to see what she should really do. I think that everyone would do good to really think things through before acting on them, but also people should think before they get into the business of others as well. I received this book free from the publisher to review.

From the first page of the book I could not stop turning, such a great story, and a reminder to all that that grass is not always green on the other side of the fence. We don’t all grow up in the perfect Christian home, and not all are loved as children. We also see how evil walks this world, and none are safe, except if we are saved and know where we are going. We have a young woman, an over achiever, determined not to let anyone get beyond the façade that she has put in place. She is conquering the world with her bright personality and determination. Girl meets boy in while doing one of her brilliant news reports she falls in the water and is rescued by a man of her dreams, Prince Charming. He is actually a professional bass and grew up completely different than our reporter Faith. Prince Charming, Geary, is a family man first and foremost, ever though he is not married, his family comes first. What can these two entirely different people have in common, besides a physical attraction? Have your tissues handy, there is a serious happening her that sure mimic’s real life in a tragic way. If we could all go back in time, none of these things would happen, but this is a fallen world we live in. The characters presented here seemed so real, and they probably do exist somewhere. I hated to leave the story as it ended, and your mind will try to bring it to the future. Don’t miss this one! I received this book through Revell’s Book Blogger Tour and was not required to give a positive review.

One of these days Kellie Coates Gilbert might write a book that doesn't reach in and grab my heart, but today is not that day! A Reason to Stay is women's fiction at its best. Gilbert's expert character development and gift of story combine to create a compelling tale. Rather self-absorbed and driven, Faith is not the most likable character as the book begins but trials have a way of honing rough edges, and I viewed her more favorably as the story progressed. Heart-wrenching events and powerfully realistic moments lend an authenticity that made me feel as if I personally knew Faith and Geary. This is a book to read with the tissue box close by. A Reason to Stay is a must-read! Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a copy of this book free from Revell Publishing. I was not required to write a positive review. The story is told by alternating between the present and Faith and Geary's past together. At first, the transition between present and past was a little jarring, but I got used to it fairly quickly. Faith is a complex character who has never really let go of the past that still haunts her. She assumes her way is the only way. Geary, too, assumes that the way his family does things is the only way, and these assumptions play heavily into their marital issues. I thought that the story was realistic, and the failure to communicate well is an issue that is portrayed well. The details in both Faith's journalism career and in the hospital give the story great credibility. I had a hard time putting down this emotional book, and I highly recommend it. I was given a copy of the book by the publisher, Revell, for the purpose of writing a review, but all opinions are my own.

Kellie Coates Gilbert continues to shine with her Texas Gold Collection! Each of these Texas tales stand alone and are relevant, ripped from the headlines stories that provoke thought and evoke emotion. A Reason To Stay is an emotional portrayal of the life-changing circumstances people endure and the hope and healing that can come through love. Faith and Geary are well-crafted characters and their touching journey is one I believe will resonate with many readers. Gilbert’s heartfelt and faith-filled fiction is always a pleasure to read, and A Reason To Stay is certainly no exception. WOW! Ok, I am going to say it. This was my favorite book in this series. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my book against the wall, but I couldn't quit reading long enough to do that. *Smile* This book was wonderful, I think it is Kellie's best writing to date, and I loved the other books she has written. This book strikes a chord with me because we are seeing so many mass shootings in this crazy world we live in. This is a survivor book. And while it is fiction it is truly a wonderful book of surviving against all odds. I don't have enough words in my vocabulary to describe how much I enjoyed this book, so I will say it with stars. 5 stars from this reviewer. This book was provided for review purposes only, no payment was received for this review.

I adore this love story of surviving tragedy and rebuilding ones love and life. Kellie writes with so much wisdom about matters of the heart, especially when it comes to women. Her books always bring me hope and make me smile.

I loved Kellie’s first two books and couldn’t wait to read this one. A Reason to Stay was another great book by Kellie. She developed characters and a storyline that will capture your heart and mind. Faith is a tough cookie. She is very driven by her work and right away I could see the problems that would arise in her relationship to Geary if things didn’t change with her. Kellie did a great job hiding and revealing Faith’s past. Even though Faith is tough she is still very likeable because you know she is hurt in someway and covering up for that and working way to hard to prove something. If you haven’t read anything by Kellie yet this is a great one. A copy of this book was given to my by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

A Reason to Stay by Kellie Coates Gilbert, is the third book in the Texas Gold series. In this book Faith Marin has to learn to balance her job and marriage. When faced with difficulties she wants to shove away those that she needs the most...God, her husband and family. This book shows her struggle to learn how to turn the lead over to God and allow him to guide her. Through the story the reader discovers how two very different people can make a marriage work if God is invited in. I feel like this book can help the reader look at their own pasts and their future, pray before making life-changing decisions. A wonderful book that is easy to sit down and read quickly.
