A Red-Tainted Silence by Carolyn Gray

Brandon Ashwood had it all--fame, fortune, and Nicholas Kilmain--but it took almost losing everything to realize his most important possession was his belief in himself. And the one thing he'd fight for was Nicholas. [Publisher's Note: This book contains subject matter than some readers may find objectionable: Male/male sexual practices, violence.]

Loved it took me awhile to finish it. Rather long and disappointed that she did not mention about the Brandon's other brother or his parents. I wanted to know how they fared in this ordeal. Now I get to read about Lee.

I have read quite a few of M/M romance and none has gotten me quite like this one has. I found myself thinking about it well after I was done reading it, literally could not put it down. The review above doesn't really give you an idea of what it's all about, so I will try to give a little more... the big word is try, I'm not so good at these kind of things. Here goes.... ***************************MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS************ Brandon drops out of high school to pursue a career in music with his older brother and their band, but he suddenly finds himself escorting his cousin and her friends to a high school musical where Nicholas is the 'main attraction' because of his vocal talents, and he instantly falls for him, and will do anything to get him into his band as lead vocal. It's a trial in itself to find the one he has already come to love, but after he finds him... well, it truly is just the beginning. The beginning of the story is told through Brandon's eyes and is set many years after they have met, and starts off with Nicholas and Brandon in the hospital after Nicholas is rescued from being kidnapped and almost killed, from what we presume is an obsessed fan. While they are both recovering, Brandon starts reflecting (through flashbacks) on how they met and all the hardships they went through to finely become the famous band they have become, and Lord have mercy... it is one rough road. The second part of the story is told through Nicholas, which is an interesting spin. The emotion behind the characters are so amazing, it left me feeling it along with them. I went through every emotion, anger at what happened to Nicholas, heartbroken at the things that they went through and experienced along the way, especially with Brandon. Joy for their sweet, and innocent relationship, I laughed at times and I cried most of the time. And I liked the mystery part of finding out why and who was responsible for Nicholas' kidnapping. I highly, highly recommending this book, the writing is superb... and the ending.... is something that one would never see coming!

Before you begin reading this wonderful tale you will need a few items. I highly recommend a box of tissues, some chocolate, your favorite beverage, and a comfortable place to sit. This a well written love story with fully developed characters, great flow, and a plot that captivates. A romantic tale of love dicovered and the strength to keep it alive. It's a who done it, as well as, a look at how family and friends shape the lives of the two main characters. I don't wish to give to much away, but I have to say this is one the best gay romantic love stories I've read. This book does contain some distrubing, violent scenes. The sex scence are steamy, but tastefully done.
