After reading about Amber, Lilly & Rose; A Secret Christmas was a perfect way to find out how Christabella & Joseph met and married. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. A pleasant diversion.

Not one of my favorites by this author. Not bad just not anything special.

Finally we get the story of Chrystabel and Joseph, the loving but slightly eccentric parents of the Chase family. They meet when Chrystabel, her sister and brother are traveling to their property in Wales after being unceremoniously evicted from their home by the Cromwell regime. Nearly frozen, they seek refuge at the home of the Ashcroft family, who graciously host them. When Joseph's mother recognizes the spark between Chrystabel and her son Joseph, she encourages the Chase family to remain through the Christmas season, even though Joseph is betrothed to another. An evil Justice of the Peace, a damsel in peril, a clandestine holiday celebration and a concealed priest hole all add interest and suspense to this charming story. I read it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down! I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a wonderful additional to a fabulous series. In previous books, we have learned the stories of the sisters Rose, Violet and Lily. Now, we get to meet their parents, Joseph and Chrystabel. After reading this book, I now know why the girls are truly their mother's daughters!
This delightful book takes place during the time when it was illegal to celebrate Christmas. Just imagine. No decorations, no carols, no celebrations. This does not stop Chrystabel as she and her family have to make an unexpected stop at the Ashcroft castle due to poor weather. While cold outside, the heat is turned up in the castle. It will have you believing in love at first sight.
The story is very entertaining, interesting and intriguing. The beautiful cover provides a hint of what is inside. It draws you in and continues with the entire story. I loved every bit of it.
While this is part of a series, it can easily be enjoyed as a stand alone.

Loved reading about the beginnings of the Ashcroft family! What fun! And a fabulous holiday story, but I could read it anytime!

This is a lovely and heartwarming story just as any Christmas story should be. If you haven’t read any of the Chase family books plan on setting aside some time because after reading this you will want to read all of them. If you are a fan of the Chase family you will love finally getting to learn the story of Joseph and Chrystabel (whose name I most certainly misspelled - apologies). Either way grab a mug of hot chocolate and dedicate a few hours to this book. You will walk away feeling lighter and brighter with a bit of the Christmas spirit no matter the time of the year.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The heroine seems very young and spoiled, the hero seems shallow, I couldn't get past page 60. This one did not evoke any Christmas sentiment for me
