Overview

A Silent Game of Spies - Book One of The War of the Royals (274,921 words)

The Twenty Years War brought peace but now whispers of war sound all across the land, from the noble cliffs of Clemongard to the seas of Hardewold, from the snows of Ambsellon to the balmy sands of Tortoreen.  Plots and counter-plots swirl and trouble and turmoil surface.     An enthralling story of murder and chaos amidst royalty, assassins, and spies unfolds.

A young queen takes the throne after the mysterious murders of her father and brothers, doing battle against the Northern Armies.  Pirates sail the Hardewold seas.  A King disinherits his treacherous son and heir to the throne.  An elusive assassin is nearly caught.  A Prince seeks his revenge.  Spies endeavor to force the hands of both the oldest of allies and enemies alike.  Murder ravages the countryside, taking both victory and defeat for its prize, leaving neither kings nor warriors untouched.  Centuries-old alliances are called upon again, betrayals and schemes are hatched, partnerships are forged, and war emerges. Duty and family, vengeance and victory, assassins and spies, royalty and warriors; this tale is a journey of the kingdoms of old and their conflicts amongst each other.

A Silent Game of Spies - ok - 4 1/2 out of 5 because of the maps. But it was a very real book - loved it! The characters really stuck with you and the plot twists couldn't have been better delivered, they just got slipped in there when you weren't expecting them and I loved that. What a villain - no spoilers - but wow! And I love the Queens in this book. I have a new name for my ex-wife now. lol Great ending. Can't wait for Book 2 now.

Jaw dropped twice. Reminded me of Game of Thrones (did not read the series). Characters were great. Looking forward to Book 2.
