Melissa had enough - enough traipsing across the country - enough of being second to the ocean. Deciding to restart her life Melissa returned home with her daughter. Life was once again looking up - yeah Cody was still an absentee father but that was okay Melissa was happy and Skye was thriving. Things were good - until a morning jog brings her past barreling into her - quite literally I might add. Melissa knows Eli won't be staying and she has been down this road before - She has no intentions of letting her heart be broken once again. Eli has always had eyes for Melissa but back then it was not meant to be and now that opportunity has presented once again - it can not be. The fact he will be her superior is only one of the many reasons. She has a daughter and he has a past. This is a sweet romance that occasionally tugs at the heartstrings Perfect for a winter indoors read - would go well with a fire and a glass of wine #AsoldiersReturn #NetGalley

This is a lovely story and so engaging about a lost soul and a love weary woman finding exactly what they need in each other. I loved the way their relationship developed through care and concern for each other, all the while each fighting the pull to love.

Melissa Fielding returned home to be closer to her mother and step-father ( when they weren’t traveling in their RV) and to raise her daughter in a hometown atmosphere. Her ex-husband is a professional surfer who is a vagabond. After another trying phone call with the ex, Melissa went out on a run to clear her head and exercise her neighbor’s dog. For whatever reason, Fiona, the dog, stopped in the middle of the path, causing Melissa to trip and do a face plant in the sand. To her humiliation the fall was witnessed by a very handsome man and the familiar dog he is walking. It turned out that the dog looked familiar because he belonged to the doctor Melissa works for. The handsome man was the doctor’s son who had arrived to help out in the practice while his father recovered from surgery. Although a familiar storyline of boy meets girl and falls in love, I enjoyed the story immensely, as I do all of RaeAnne’s books. It is a story that I will read again.

A delightful return to Brambleberry House! I was quickly intrigued by Melissa's back story and once Eli came into the picture, I was hooked! Great characters, filled with emotional upheavals and lots of feel good moments. Really enjoyed! Returning to Cannon Beach, Oregon and moving into Brambleberry House with her daughter has been like a breath of fresh air for Melissa Fielding. She loves her neighbors, loves her job and loves the atmosphere of this coastal town. Dealing with the distraction of her ex though is a different story. Circumstances line up just right to allow Eli Sanderson the opportunity to return to town to fill in for his doctor father for a few weeks. Running into Melissa and realizing she's going to be his nurse while he's in town is unexpected. He crushed on her in high school, but life took them in different directions. Now that they're at different places in their lives, will anything come of their attraction to each other?

This is a warm and wonderful book about Melissa and Eli, who barely knew each other in high school, and both are back home in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Melissa and her seven-year-old daughter, Skye, live in the first floor apartment of Brambleberry House, also housed by two other women on the other two floors. Eli is temporarily home to help keep his father Wendell’s medical clinic running while his father recovers from surgery. Eli is lost and broken from incidents in his military career. Melissa and Eli cross paths on the beach and at the clinic, where Melissa is a nurse. This story is healing and there is much comfort in the kindness of the characters. The descriptions of the ocean views from the windows of Brambleberry House and the sounds of the waves had me wishing I were there. The town and surrounding areas are breathtaking. I loved it and look forward to reading the previous books in this series. It can definitely be read as a standalone book.

I really enjoyed this story. Eli has been overseas for the last few years with the Army in some terrible places. He lost some people who were dear to him and it haunts him. When his father has to have a double knee replacement, he goes home to help out. Melissa has been home for a few months and is so happy to be there. One day she runs into Eli. Bang! They are attracted to each, but he will be leaving and she isn't going to do that again. She is home to stay. But, as they spend more time together, it isn't so easy to walk away.

I loved going back to Brambleberry House! Even if you haven't read the other stories that took place there, you will still enjoy this book! There are a couple nuances that you might miss but that wont ruin the story for you. I found the war background of Eli, the new doctor who has come back to fill in for his father who recently had surgery, to be very realistic. The horrors that our men and women of the military see and experience stay with them for a long time and it's hard to deal with. Eli, an army doctor, carries with him that last experience of a bombing that changed him and it's hard to let go of those images. He is suddenly in Oregon, at his father's family practice for a short stint and I'm sure it's hard to "put on a happy face", even though he does a good job of it! Melissa is a nurse at his father's practice but they actually knew each other in high school, just different grades. Melissa is divorced and has a wonderful, bright daughter now named Skye and I fell in love with her! She was just what Eli needed! Skye was actually my favorite character! Skye and the two dogs were so fun! They brought a lot of life to the story. I enjoyed the journey that Eli and Melissa took to arrive at their HEA. Melissa also had a lot of issues to deal with. I think this book is a great book to read at the beginning of the new year! One filled with hope, faith and love!

The perfect book to cuddle up by the fire with a glass of wine and just enjoy. A single mom who has made it on her own as a nurse. A man reeling from the experiences of war. Brought together when his father needs him to come home and help with the family practice, because the town doctor needs surgery. I really enjoyed A Soldier's Return. I'm not a big fan of internal or external, for that matter, dialog that is repetitive or self inflicted (you know the oh, whoa-is-me, I can't be loved or love because I'm guilty, depressed, not good enough, you get the picture). There was a little bit of that in A Soldier's Return and that was the only thing keeping me from loving it. In the end, I found it cute, heartfelt and endearing and I really liked it. I received this ARC copy of A Soldier's Return from HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada) - Harlequin Special Edition. This is my honest and voluntary review.
