This is a wonderful book and the author is a talented writer. Loved the dialogue in this. It's one of those fiction novels that you want to re-read as soon as you finish it. A State Of Treason doesn't disappoint and as a reader in a book group, I've recommended this author a few times already. I think what makes this book stand out is the fact that this fiction could actually come true at some point in the near future. So many situations ring true and are similar to the news you hear each day. This book really resonated with me as an American on so many levels. I'd recommend to any reader and especially those who live in or love the Lone Star state.

Even though this is a fiction novel, it felt quite realistic to me. As a few other reviewers have said, this is believable enough to be pulled from today's headlines. Roberts also has a compelling writing style that will reel the reader in and not let go until the end. I found this to be a quick read--not because it was short (at 300+ pages, I don't think you can call A State of Treason short!!), but because time seems to pass so quickly when I pick this up. This is quite a satisfying read for anyone who enjoys political fiction.

A State of Treason is a government packed thriller that is sure to excite the reader. I loved the book and how action packed it was. I could connect with this book as I am one of those Americans who believes in the freedom of this country and supports the citizens of America in having those freedoms. I loved how this book supported the love for Texas and Texans. While I am not from Texas, I have many friends that are and I can always feel their Texas pride. Liberty-loving Texas and their governor make the fight for freedom that is so entertaining to read about. I loved the story line and found it to be very captivating. I really do think that everyone will enjoy this one, even if you are not a fan of government or political thrillers.

If you want high-powered drama under the unpredictable politics, you'll read and love this book !!! It has all the surprises that a dramatic thriller should have. If you're like me, you'll read this book and won't want to put it down ! It's classical and definitely a reminder of what's happening today to our poor country. Republicans want to improve America, and preserve freedoms. Non of the other parties won't get on board..thus keeping the president out of state affairs of Texas...Read this book...You'll absolutely love it and won't put it down !

Beginning with the Forward in the book A STATE OF TREASON by David Thomas Roberts the reader will, like I did, have to keep reminding himself that this book is Fiction.   What happens when an entire state, like Texas, votes to succeed from the Union? What happens when Conservatives and Tea Party supporters ignore the opinions of Liberals particularly the Liberal President of the United States? The answer: A STATE OF TREASON. “Accompanied by his entire cabinet, the president strode to the podium in the blue-carpeted East Room of the White House. … He was a master at manipulating speaking opportunities, and this was high drama. Finally, he spoke, reading from teleprompters at each side of the podium.”  (Page 10) Ninety percent of Liberals will hate this book, the other ten percent aren’t really liberal.  The idea that a President of the United States of America would ignore the Constitution, try to take away the rights of individuals, abuse such government entities as the IRS and declare martial law after suspending (ignoring) the 2nd Amendment is inconceivable to a liberal but to those who pay attention to what is going on in America today it is very possible.   Though truth is often stranger than fiction oftentimes fiction can give insight to the truth. I would strongly suggest the reader purchase: PATRIOTS OF TREASON, the preamble to this very plausible action pact political fiction, before reading A STATE OF TREASON. Prayerfully this book will serve as a wake-up call to the citizenry and they will begin to vote for individuals who will support the Constitution of the United States of America.  I cannot sing enough praises for this will written book, David Thomas Roberts is now my favorite political fiction author. I recommend you purchase PATRIOTS OF TREASON and A STATE OF TREASON. Enjoy xxx Marsha L Randolph Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from WESTWIND BOOK MARKETING. What Happens When A State Fires Upon Uncle Sam “A State of Treason” by Dave Roberts is a fast-moving, action-packed story of a spiraling-out-of-control clash between Texas and the federal government and ends in a crisis threatening to unravel the nation. After President Obama won re-election there was talk in some states of secession. “A State of Treason” provides a clear portrait of how that might come about if it were to happen. The novel also gives a clear look at Texas itself and how Texans think – a glimpse that is much different than how citizens of the remaining 49 view their states. This novel, like its predecessor (“Patriots of Treason”), also gives an inside look at the Tea Party at the grass roots and what motivates patriots to join the ranks of this movement and what its members think about the federal government, the IRS, DHS and the mainstream political parties. It is fascinating what happens when a state moves towards independence and succession and the issues that spring forth as the federal government responds. Is it right for the federal government to withhold Social Security, food stamps and federal pensions payments from Texans, is it right for Texans to seize federal military bases, is it an act of war for a Texas Air National Guard aircraft to shoot down a federal plane, and is it a unconstitutional act of treason to secede from the union. Roberts does an excellent job presenting these issues and airing them out fully. And the reason the author can examine such issues with precision is that he is active in politics and the movement for Texas Independence and has been a speaker at Tea Party events. Not only is “A State of Treason” a can’t-put-down book but it is a book that will keep your mind churning days after you finish it, wondering how much of the plot is real or could be real and whether you really want to know the difference.
