Through the eyes of young Paul, we get to experience a trip to Manhattan from the pilot house of the Staten Island Ferry. It's a special trip for Paul, who's been invited by the Captain. He will get to pass his favorite ship, the grandest ocean liner of them all, the Queen Elizabeth 2 on her way out to sea. On board with Paul, young readers will learn facts about the Ferry, itself, as well as the navigational and historical significance of New York Harbor.

A Staten Island Ferry Tale based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
I thoroughly recommend this book for children of all ages (and grown-ups too who want an insight into the day to day life of the Staten Island Ferry). Both engaging and educational simultaneously, it brings life on the river and the ferry vividly to the reader - you can almost smell the spray and feel the wind in your hair! Paul Frahm's illustrations are colorful, lively and endearing. My English nephews and nieces are all agog to ride the ferry on their first visit to New York this fall after my sending them this book. (Sadly, my god-daughter in Melbourne, who is also longing to after reading the book, is going to have to wait a while yet!)
