Joanna Price is a city girl with the perfect life. She loves her job as a book editor, she just married Liam, high profile bestselling author and the man of her dreams, and she's headed to the Caribbean to enjoy two weeks of paradise for her luxurious honeymoon.
Connor Duffield is a gruff, grumpy rancher from the Midwest. He is a country boy who has a no-nonsense approach to life, more scars than he'd like to admit, and he hates city girls.

So it's just a misfortune they have to sit next to each other for a six hour plane ride. Even more so when their flight is caught in the perfect storm and Joanna wakes up stranded on a desert island with Connor, the very man she hoped she would never have to see again.

Why are they alone on this forsaken island? What happened to Joanna's husband?

When her dream honeymoon turns into a hilarious tropical nightmare, Joanna's first thought is survival. However, she and Connor will quickly discover just how boring paradise can be. As the days turn to weeks, and then months, this mismatched pair will have to learn how to coexist and how to resist the sparkles of an attraction they weren't prepared to feel.

When they are finally rescued will Joanna's marriage be saved as well, or will the life she knew and loved be in ruins?

Get stranded on a deserted island with a stranger, fall in love, and find a Happy Ending all in one book. Have fun all summer long.

Really loved this book! A sweet, romantic book, with just enough spice and sass. This book was funny, but also touching.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW Joanna Price has the perfect life. She’s on a plane headed to her honeymoon after marrying the man of her dreams. Immediately things start off rough when she’s forced to sit apart from her husband and next to a horribly grumpy man that she nicknames “The Ogre”. It’s crabby, pesimistic, and looking to rain on Joanna’s parade… but she’s filled to the brim with happiness and doesn’t let him burst her bubble. That is until she wakes up and finds herself stranded on an island with The Ogre, also known as Connor, after their plane crashes. So much for heading to her honeymoon destination of her dreams. Now, with the help of a friendly little baby monkey, Joanna and Connor must do what they can to survive this time and get home safe and sound. The good news… they do get rescued (yay!) but life as Joanna knew it is completely different. After everyone assumed she had died when the plane crashed, they all moved on. Her husband has a new wife, her position at her job has been filled by another, and she’s left with nowhere to live. What a mess!! Will Joanna find a way to deal with this new life that’s hardly what she was expecting before the plane crash? Her oh-so-perfect life has now crashed along with the plane, and she’s a total mess. This is not a serious, Survivor or Naked and Afraid type of stuck-on-an-island story. This is a romantic comedy full of charm. It’s adorably silly at times, a tad unrealistic, but a boatload of fun! I really enjoyed these characters, and this narrator brought it up a notch for sure. They way she performed Joanna and her perfect-little-life attitude was perfection. Connor was also pretty spot-on. I thoroughly loved this story from shaky beginning to emotional end. A definite must-read if you enjoy your romantic comedies! Audiobook Impressions: I have to say, I am completely shocked that this is Tami Leah Lacy’s debut narration. I’m quite picky when I come to my narrators since I listen to A LOT of audiobooks and have my favorites… but, man, Tami was close to perfect!! Her performance of these characters was spot-on! Female narrators don’t always portray a genuine male voice, and vice versa. Tami, however, performed each and every one of these characters to a “t”. no complaints here! If this is a book you’re thinking about reading, I 100% recommend going the audiobook route. A narrator I will surely be adding to my favorites list! (Thanks to Camilla Isley for the review copy!)

Suddenly, Joanna and Connor are rescued from the island and suddenly I can’t put the book down. After the rescue, the story is filled with unexpected turns, each more fantastic than the previous. This isn’t a predictable Cinderella story, it is far more romantic and enticing. Anyone that has ever had their heart broken, wants closures. This book had me in tears (while I read it in public) when Joanna finally gets hers. The book is also humorous, Katy says to Joanna just after seeing Connor in person, “I thought you were a good writer, but you suck. He doesn’t sound half as hot in your book.”

Joanna (Jo, Joan, Anna), has just married the love of her life, Liam, and is off on her honeymoon. There is only one problem. They are not seated together on the plane and the ogre that is sat next to her refuses to change seats with her new husband. Liam however, looks quite content to be seated next to a gorgeous model, and is not trying so hard to get her to exchange seats with his wife. When the unthinkable happens en-route, Joanna and Connor, AKA ‘The Ogre’, are sucked out of the plane and land on a deserted island – not including the animals. Now they must rely on each other and their basic skills, if they are going to stay alive, when everyone else believes them to be dead. This is the second book by Camilla Isley, and having loved the first one, I was eager to get my teeth in to this new one. ‘A Sudden Crush’ is a chick-lit-esque, tongue in cheek, fairytale of a book. It had me laughing along, and at the characters, especially Joanna and her temper tantrums, and her phobia of spiders. The story is far-fetched, but that’s what I liked the most. It took me away from the real world at a time when I needed an escape, and placed me in this fantasy world, where it felt like the sun was shining down on me, and I could taste the fresh fruit and hear the waves crashing against the rocks. I loved how the two pig-headed main characters needed to help each other, and learn to get along if they wanted to make it off the island alive, and how Joanna becomes the adopted mother to Manny, much to Connor’s dislike. Joanna is a remarkable young woman. She’s fearlessly loyal, and determined. She has a career as an editor which she loves and seemed to have the perfect life until she fell from the plane. The revelations about what her ‘husband’ Liam had been up to whilst he thought she was dead had me seething. At least she got to see his true colours before they took the next step in their life together. Connor is rugged and moody, yet gorgeous. He takes an instant dislike to Joanna, but as the days, weeks and months go, on you see his softer side coming through. The book is wonderfully engaging, light-hearted and fun to read. It made me laugh at a time I didn’t think I could laugh, and I had a permanent smile on my face from beginning to end. Thank you Camilla. The book has been like therapy!

This is the second book by Camilla that I’ve had the pleasure of reading – the first being ‘I Wish for You‘. This book is just as good as her first book. I read this in just a couple hours (last night actually). I couldn’t have put it down if I wanted to. Right from the first chapter I was hooked and knew I’d fall in love with another Camilla Isley vacation. Joan recently married the love of her life Liam. They both work in the book publishing world, Joan as an editor and Liam as a writer. The book starts as they board the plane for their honeymoon but since they are quite late for boarding they end up in separate seats with other people. Liam sitting by a gorgeous woman and Joan sitting next to Connor, a caveman like man who converses mostly in grunts and hmmm’s. Mid flight there is some kind of plane accident and Joan and Connor end up alive on a deserted island. Obviously from the first chapter Connor is the last man Joan would like to spend her wedding night with, or any night for that matter. Now she is stuck with him for who knows how long until someone will maybe rescue them. The two characters are complete opposites in just about every single area. Connor doesn’t speak much even when it’s just the two of them and it appears he’s determined to make Joan’s life miserable while trying to survive in a tropical paradise with a woman who never shuts up. Joan’s bag somehow survives the crash and she’s equipped with everything, almost, that one might hope for when deserted on an island with a grunting caveman hero. I gave this book 5 coffees. The book is fun, interesting and holds your attention. You can’t help but wonder a few questions through-out their time on the island: Is Liam still alive? Will anyone ever find them? What is the story with Connor? Will Joan and Connor end up together? Come on, already, end up together! lol Those questions alone will keep you reading until the very last page. There are fairy-tale elements, heart crushing scenes and scenes that will speed up your heart (if not your libido). You’ll root for Joan to come out on top of all the troubles she’s having and you may or may not wish other characters the worst in life. It’s a fun, quick read that will take you to read on a deserted tropical island with a man who is skilled, quiet and beyond handsome. What I Loved: -The relationship between Connor and Joan and how it progressed (and relapsed and then progressed again). -The setting… If I had to choose a place to be stranded, a tropical island is the way to go. -The whole story-line, it’s a great idea, although a tad far fetched, but, isn’t that the point of a book? To take you to a place you’d never visit in real life? What I didn’t Love: -Seriously the only thing that I didn’t love about this book was – the monkey. I felt like the story didn’t need him. What I thought of the Cover: -I always love Camilla’s covers. They are classic chick lit which is great, because that’s exactly what she’s writing! My Conclusion: This is a great second book by a great chick lit writer. I will be buying paperback copies of both of Camilla’s books just to have in my collection. Her stories are always fun, romantic, heartwarming and happy ending. If you’re looking for a great beach/vacation read I’d suggest this book, although maybe don’t read it on the plane. Camilla has turned into one of my favorite chick lit writers. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next! I can really honestly

This is a very easy to read, light hearted romance, a mix of emotions with a cute ending. Joanna & Liam set off on their honeymoon but due to late check in are unable to sit together on the plane. Liam seems quite happy with his female seat neighbour but Joanna is lumbered with an arrogant rude man called Connor. During the flight there is a slight problem … fast-forward & Joanna & Connor find themselves stranded on a dessert island. The chemistry could sizzle but Joanna insists she is happily married & convinced Liam will find her. During this time the days are counted & pass quite rapidly to the reader. Watch out for Manny .. he quickly became one of my favourite characters. It’s almost a book of two stories .. when rescue finally comes it’s not what any of them expect .. & a whole new situation develops. You will have to read the book to see what happens because I don’t want to give too much away. I enjoyed it very much & could easily have read it in one sitting if circumstances had allowed. Keep an eye out for this one. Thanks to the author and Aimee @HelloChickLit for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

Genre: Contemporary Romantic Comedy. Number of Pages: 318. Perspective: First. Location: Chicago/Island. In A Sudden Crush, Joanna and her new husband are on their way to their honeymoon vacation. Due to their tardiness, they have to split up on the plane, so Joanna ends up sitting next to a rude man, Connor. The plane goes through a terrible storm, and Connor and Joanna end up stranded on an island together. I was actually pleasantly surprised by this book. The story was engaging and it wasn’t a typical “insta-love” romance novel (i.e. where the main characters fall in love and are inseparable immediately after meeting). I loved the time that they spent on the deserted island, but the book lost me for a bit once [spoiler] they were back home. That part of the story just wasn’t as interesting and we were introduced to a lot of secondary characters that, honestly, didn’t add anything to the overall plot. And for the pace that the book had been going, the ending seemed too much for me. I don’t want to ruin the ending by saying more than that. Usually, a book that tries to be cute and funny comes across as more cheesy or adolescent [humor is hard to translate in fiction], but Isley actually did a good job. I found myself smiling and laughing a little on the inside [no LOLs with this one]. I was provided an ARC of A Sudden Crush in exchange of a honest review. This is the second book I’ve read by Camilla Isley, the first being I Wish For You. I am a huge fan, and I have already pre-ordered a copy of A Sudden Crush. A Sudden Crush is the epitome of a vacation read. It is light, funny, and full of charm and romance. I loved it! I sat down and read the entire book in one sitting; I could not put it down. The start of the book was similar to the movie, Six Days Seven Nights; with a surely leading man, and a perky leading lady. The similarities between the movie and this book end with the plane crash and the description of the two characters. Joanne has just married; and this is supposed to be her honeymoon. I know right! Instead of living it up with the man of her dreams, she is stuck on a deserted island after a plane crash, with tall dark and grumpy man. Oh man, is he grumpy; he speaks in grunts for goodness sakes! She is bored out of her mind, and all she wants to do is get back to her husband, and away from Connor. There’s not any real drama on the island, but over time, the sexual tension between the two builds and builds. It was like waiting for a ticking time bomb to explode. I was pleased with the direction the book went. Nope, not going to give it away because that would ruin it for you. Joanne stayed true to herself, and her values throughout her ordeal; it made her a stronger better person. I will say that I am not a huge fan of fade to black, but I was so in love with the characters that I was ok with everything being left to my imagination. Though A Sudden Crush had a fade to black, I still absolutely loved it and it is a huge 5 stars....Sara

A book editor married to an author. That’s definitely a match made in heaven. Or is it? It’s pretty bad when the guy you just married isn’t trying too hard to sit next to you on the plane. The response Joanna got from the rude passenger was classic! =D Now Joan has to ride a whole 6 hours without her husband. Oh, pooh. But to make matters worse, the plane crashes on a tropical island. Oh, pooh more. So it seems Joan becomes stranded, alone…..until she later realizes that she’s tuck with Mr. Ogre, the rude passenger she was sitting next to. Classic! And the two bicker and battle with each other with snarky and witty repartee, like Harrison Ford and Anne Heche on 6 Days, 7 Nights. I must admit that Joan adopting and trying to talk to a monkey was a little too weird. Yeah, like the monkey can really understand you, lady! Ooh, Eeek, Eeek, Ooh. Throughout the book, the two try to work together, collaborating (more or less) on ideas, for survival. I mean, would you drink out of a condom if need be? It mostly consisted of them fighting endlessly. Overall, this is another well-written work from Camilla Isley, but I wasn’t too encapsulated by it. Certain areas lagged a bit, especially with the day-to-day happenings of living on the island. This was okay for the most part, but not as good as her other novel.
