A Broken Dreams Novella
She’s his best friend’s little sister. He’s the biggest player of them all.
They shouldn’t be together. But this summer’s just too tempting.
Sixteen-year-old Emilia Moretti’s goal for the summer is simple: forget her brother’s best friend—Nick Grawsky—ever existed. It should be easy: He’s spending his summer in the Hamptons, adding girls in tiny bikinis to his list of broken hearts. Guarantee he won’t be telling them they’re like his little sisters. This summer, Emilia won’t stay awake at night thinking about him. She’ll need flawless ballet movements to have a shot at next year’s showcase, and she’s finally ready to search for her birth parents. But when Nick decides to stay in the city, Emilia’s resolve disappears in a pirouette. Maybe it’s the spin they needed to be together. As long as she doesn’t get stuck believing in happily ever after…
Nick is tired of pretending to be the happy, let’s-have-fun guy. His father wants him to change his career from professional dancer to…lawyer. He needs to put all of his focus on dancing to prove to Daddy Dearest he’s good enough to make it big. And he may have a case of the bluest balls in history courtesy of Emilia. She’s off-limits: The bro code with Roberto even forbids the dirty thoughts he has about her. Besides, he’s not boyfriend material. He only has time for flings, for girls who don’t expect much, for girls he doesn’t want to kiss goodnight. He knows he should resist her, but he’s not sure he wants to…
At least for this summer.
It’s going to be a summer like no other.

Heart-warming, sweet, sad, endearing. . .there are so many words to describe this story. As a novella, this is not an entire story in itself but rather an appetizer for the next book to come. Now, usually I'm not fond of this type of book. I like my ends plain, simple and closed--stories in themselves. But this time, I'm more than willing to forgive the cliff-hanger ending. This is a teen romance, and the relationship between Nick and Em stands in the spotlight. There are several other things going on as the complex family situations behind these characters unfold and grow more difficult instead of easier. I enjoyed the fact that the feelings grow from a long-year friendship between characters and that even when their feelings for each other deepen, it doesn't mean that everything is whipped cream and cherries. Em and Nick have other things to deal with than just each other, and it's great to see that life can't only rotate around romance but other things do get in the way. The writing in this was well done. I was drawn in from page one and read this (to my kid's irritation) in one sitting. I never had the urge to skip paragraphs and felt like each and every character was there with their own personality. The decisions and thoughts of Nick and Em made sense and were very believable and understandable as well as perfect for their age. Summed up, this is a great and easy read, which I can only recommend to teens who love to dream of summer romances that are deeper than just a quick fling. Can't wait to see how Em and Nick's story continues. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great story with great characters. You connect with everyone quickly. I can't wait to read the next installment in this series as I am sure it will be equally amazing!
I love love love this novella. I instantly fell in love with the characters. Em is such a strong individual who knows what she wants, but after meeting her birth mother, I am not sure how strong she is going to be. I really do like Nick, but he needs to stand up to daddy or I am just going to end up hating him. I would love to know more about Roberto and Giovanni's relationship. Can not wait til Sept to get the full story.
