"You can run but you cannot hide" - Something that Kristy Bradley knows only too well.
Having escaped the seedy core that is the Big Apple, and leaving a Mafia don convicted of her alleged kidnapping, Kristy created a new life for herself as Penny. She finds her soulmate in Z, and they are living the perfect life together, blissfully happy on her sprawling Scottish estate.
That is, until Melissa Chisholm has a chance encounter with a dated magazine article revealing Penny's true identity. With intentions as pure as her naivety - not to mention the million-dollar reward - she has no idea of the perilous danger that awaits her arrival in New York.
Now the race is on for Penny and Z to protect all that they hold dear.....each other.

Page turner from beginning to End It starts out with "I Love You" and the perception of those three words and continues from there. A very interesting and compelling story from beginning to end. Kristy creates a new life for herself as Penny to get away from a dangerous past, and meets Z. It's an intriguing tale of romance and suspense as Kristy's former life threatens the life she has built with Z. I found the characters very likeable, and was definitely rooting for Kristy and Z, and the best relationships may have Love within them, but also trust and definitely each other. I didn't read the first book, "Greater Expectations" and I only got lost in the story, not missing the first volume. Highly recommended.
A Tale of Three Cities is Alexander McCabe's second novel following Greater Expectations. Although they do follow on, each are stand-alone novels and I got a full story reading this second one without feeling I'd missed something without reading the first. Sweet, naive Melissa Chisholm was a romantic at heart, so when she saw an ad in a magazine from a Mr Bradley desperately seeking his lovely wife Kristy, Melissa knew she just had to reunite the loving couple and, of course, collect the1 million dollar reward. If only she'd known the circumstances Kristy, now Penny, had left the marriage, Melissa might not have been so quick to claim the reward and put herself in so much danger. Penny and Z are both sore from previous marriages. Penny had a most dreadful and violent marriage to Michael Bradley and Z's wife, Gemma, left him reeling when she had an affair. Both are afraid to say 'I love you' but have just tentatively tested the waters with those words and it seems that feelings are mutual and are blissfully happy with each other. Then starts the cataclysmic devastation that Penny has dreaded - her husband knows she's alive. After I'd read the first few chapters in which we learn a little of the lives of the main characters, I found that I couldn't put this book down. I just had to know what happened next, how does Melissa get out of her situation, will Penny be discovered, will Z stick with her when he knows she's aleady married, who will get the money, and who's going to save the day. It really was a gripping white knuckle read and I'm very much looking forward to reading the first book, Greater Expectations. This book is very well written, is a good plot well put together and I would thoroughly recommend if you like a well paced thriller with a hint of romance.
