A Tan and Sandy Silence (Travis McGee Series #13) by John D. MacDonald

Travis McGee is the strikingly handsome and ever resourceful invention of John D. MacDonald. Born in the author's imagination in 1964, McGee drifted into the world on a 52-foot diesel-powered houseboat, the Busted Flush, which he has used as a base of operations through many adventures.

In A TAN AND SANDY SILENCE, news of a former girlfriend's mysterious disappearance leads McGee to the West Indian island of Grenada. There he takes on a whirlwind plot of double-dealing, shady financing and shifting identities.

"MacDonald is the thinking mystery lovers' answer to Ian Fleming and Mickey Spillane." (San Francisco Chronicle)

About the Author

John D. MacDonald was an American novelist and short-story writer. His works include the Travis McGee series and the novel The Executioners, which was adapted into the film Cape Fear. In 1962 MacDonald was named a Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America; in 1980, he won a National Book Award. In print he delighted in smashing the bad guys, deflating the pompous, and exposing the venal. In life, he was a truly empathetic man; his friends, family, and colleagues found him to be loyal, generous, and practical. In business, he was fastidiously ethical. About being a writer, he once expressed with gleeful astonishment, “They pay me to do this! They don’t realize, I would pay them.” He spent the later part of his life in Florida with his wife and son. He died in 1986.

I never expected to be doing this. I am not sure as to why you should choose me, since I was not born here. I was born as Waterkit Lostclan at mwsotd or something(but that was toooo long ago) and then Stormclan invaded us but I escaped as Waterblaze. I also had a character called Spiritstar, current leader of Rockclan. I think I should be leader because of of my success in leading Rockclan at diq using Spiritstar. If you do not believe me, go there and join then ask for another character Spiritstar uses. She will tell you it is Waterblaze of Sandclan. Rockclan is at diq res one. So...that is why I would like to be leader. If I do not get selected, deputy or warrior should do. Honestly, you can give the role of leader to Thistlepath. I already have Rockclan under command. It is alright if you pick me though.
So...Yep! That is all!
Waterblaze
