A thief in the Theater is a GREAT mystery for young girls. It is easy to understand and the author's words just make you want to stay up all night to solve the mystery, on April 1st I didn't want to go to bed, I wanted to stay up and read until I finished the book! Until my Mom made me turn out the lights! A thief in the Theater is such a good book to read when you have had a COMPLETELY BORING day.. it turns that day from Boring 100000 times to an EXCITING and AWESOME 'SWEET!' day...

A Thief in the Theater written by Sarah Masters Buckey is an American Girl mystery about an American Girl historical character named Kit Kittredge. Kit Kittredge has a summer job writing the kids' section for a local newspaper, the Cincinatti Register. Kit decides to write about A Midsummer Night's Dream play going on at the Burns Theater. However, when Kit, and her friend Sterling, reach the theater, the theater's manager, Rose Burns, announces that A Midsummer Night's Dream would play no more at the theater. She announced, that instead, the theater would show Macbeth, a spooky Shakespearan play. However, bad luck seems to follow the Burns Theater crew, after the announcement of Macbeth. One of the actresses twists her ankle and the set crashes after the announcement. Also, Kit is worried she won't get to write about anything for her kids' section of the newspaper, so she asks Rose if she could write her column about the backstage on the Macbeth play. However, not too long after that, Mr. Bell, who stays at Kit's family's boarding house, and also a part of the stage crew, comes back from the cash register, announcing that lots of money had been stolen form the box office. The crew of the theater is very worried, and so is Kit and Sterling. After that, Kit is determined to figure out who the thief is, and while there is so much bad luck at the theater. Kit also wants to make sure she writes a good story for the childrens' column. Finding the thief is not the easiest job in the world, but Kit and Sterling try hard again and again, but the mystery seems to get deeper and even more confusing with every clue. Worse than that, Macbeth might close for good! However, when Kit and Sterling finally discover the real culprit, it is someone whom they never suspected. In general, I think a Thief in the Theater is a thrilling read, altogether. It has all the aspects of a good mystery book, and I think it deserves four stars in total. This book is for any girl who likes American Girl, Kit Kittredge, mystery, or drama. For this book is truly a "real drama". Hope you like this story just like i did!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Kit goes to see a Shakespearian play for an article, she discovers that the play will be changed before she has a chance to write an article. Kit asks to be allowed to help out backstage in order to write an article about backstage work instead, and ends up involved in a mystery. Someone stole money from the theater's box office, and a whole variety of strange events are taking place- is the choice for the next play, "MacBeth," to blame? Kit, working together with Sterling solve these mysteries and vindicate a friend.
