About the Author

Susan Haught writes emotionally powerful family drama with a discreet measure of sensual romance. A multi award-winning novelist and Australian black liquorice connoisseur, Susan believes Love is Ageless and has the power to change lives--one step, one touch, one kiss at a time.

Susan has been chosen twice as the recipient of the New Apple Award for Excellence in Independent Publishing for A Promise of Fireflies and A Thousand Butterfly Wishes. Vicious Circles, a fictional story about the deceptions faced in the midst of spousal abuse, was a finalist in the Writer's Village International Short Story Contest, and Susan's writing earned her a spot as a two-time finalist in the Best of Rim Country Reader's Choice Awards, and her website was singled out as one of The Writer Awards Top Author Websites.

When Susan isn't writing, you'll find her tending her garden with a notorious brown thumb, or escaping into someone else's words. She enjoys mentoring new writers, and she's always on the lookout for the best in Australian black liquorice and ways to spoil her grandpuppy, a feisty Yorkie named Ryleigh. Yes, her son named his gorgeous Yorkshire Terrier after the main character in A Promise of Fireflies.

Susan and her husband call the mountains of Arizona home where they raised their son. They spend their spare time catering to a high-maintenance princess, their Shih Tzu, Mercedes, and on FaceTime with Ryleigh…and their son! ?

Reviewed by Ruffina Oserio for Readers' Favorite A Thousand Butterfly Wishes by Susan Haught is a heartwarming story that features love and loss, a journey towards compassion, and the incredible power of human connectedness. Meet Rachel Gowen, a woman with a difficult past that haunts her, a past she would love to keep in a compartment of her memory with a tag: “Do not open,” a woman who is promised a thousand butterfly wishes and who requires only one. Rachel is happy working in the retirement home, where she shares deep relationships with patients, but her encounter with Nico threatens to unveil and bring to light all the memories she’s resisted over the years. She also develops a great relationship with the boring Ben, the handsome British doctor. As the story unfolds, she must make decisions that will allow her to face her past or to lose everything. And what has Ambrose, the mysterious stranger with knowledge of things he isn’t supposed to know, got to do with it all? Susan Haught’s novel is a gift, a story that is moving, and that espouses the finest of human values. Readers will love the original and compelling characters, the complex plot, and the twists that come along the way. The prose is excellent and it features powerfully descriptive and emotionally insightful passages. The themes are intelligently woven into the story and there is a striking balance when it comes to character, setting, and plot. This is an exciting story that entertains and informs readers, inviting them to walk the path of love, compassion, and patience. A Thousand Butterfly Wishes is one of those stories to read with the heart. Well-plotted and deft.
