A Touch of Charm by Karen Fox

Beauty, Charm, and Grace—something the nouveau-riche Sullivan sisters of Colorado Springs lack. But a wish at a magical rock formation is about to change all that, in a most a-MUSE-ing way. . . .

The three Sullivan sisters, named for the Three Graces of Greek legend who embody beauty, charm and grace, don’t live up to their names. Belle is no beauty. Charisma lacks charm. And Grace is somewhat less than graceful. But this doesn't deter their ambitious mother from bribing three bachelors to escort them to Colorado Springs’ beautiful Garden of the Gods.

When the girls overhear their escorts mocking how little they resemble their names, each girl makes a wish at the magical Three Graces rock formation. Charisma wishes aloud for charm, but secretly hopes to make a difference in the world.

When William Barclay, a candidate running for the Colorado congress, asks Charisma to be his platonic escort to functions in the city, Charisma is ecstatic. A suffragette-in-training, she can make Will see that rights for women are important. But her plain speaking almost ruins her opportunity before it even starts.

Fortunately, a newly-arrived Greek widow in town agrees to tutor Charisma in the art of charm. And it works . . . most of the time. Even as Charisma finds herself falling for Will, she can’t stop herself from trying to help those in need, threatening her reputation in the process. Will she end up pushing Will away or will he realize that what he needs is an impulsive, plain-speaking, do-gooder?

About the Author

Born and raised in Jackson, Michigan, Karen Fox has always loved to read. When she decided at age twelve that she wanted to be a writer, her first stories reflected her interest in science fiction (though somehow they always managed a romance as well). Her husband, John Fox, joined the Air Force soon after they married and they spent the next twenty years living in various places around the US and in Europe. During these years she discovered romance, which replaced SF as her favorite reading material. She loved to read how these amazing take-charge women survived their adventures and earned the love of the one man perfectly suited for them. Her stories reflected this new interest, though she never lost her appreciation for the world of science fiction. When futuristic romances arrived on the market, it was the best of both worlds. There she found the adventure of visiting new worlds and cultures while still sharing in the emotional journey made by the hero and heroine. She was hooked. After five years, four completed books, and a move to Biloxi, she finally sold her first book to Leisure Love Spell. Her first book, Sword of MacLeod, made the Ingram's Bestseller List as did her second book, Somewhere My Love. In fact, she was thrilled when she learned that Somewhere My Love was a RITA finalist in 1998 for Best Paranormal. This book was also a finalist in Affaire de Coeur's Reader Awards, The Award of Excellence from Colorado Romance Writers, and FF&P's PRISM Award. Later, she sold four contemporary fantasies and wrote two books in series done with some of her Wyrd Sisters. Now that her husband has retired from the Air Force, they are making their home near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, CO. When not at home writing or ferrying grandchildren to their various activities, she works as a Technical Project Specialist for The MITRE Corporation designing web-based applications.
