Chapter One

Sam dreamed of being a superhero like those on TV.

The superheroes fought for what was right. Sam thought they were out of sight.

He thought saving the world would be so great!

If Sam looked like them, could he, too, be first rate?

He tied on his cape, painted himself green, and oh, was he a sight to be seen! But Sam did not feel like a superhero.

Sam pretended to fight. Deep down, he knew it wasn't right.

He used his hands for hitting,

and he became super only at sitting!

Could he ever be super? He was in quite a stupor.

A sad green Sam sat on the stair. One could see his despair. His mother squeezed in beside him and asked, "Sam, can I tell you about a real superhero?" "Okay," he said, as he felt like such a zero.

"Did he wear a mask?" Sam had to ask. "No," his mom replied.

"Jesus came to save the human race. He did not care to cover his face."

"Jesus has even greater powers than others you have seen. He has no need to shoot webs or to be green! His incredible power to love makes him stronger than any other, even this mother!"

"Whether big or small, short or tall, Jesus loved all."

"He caresnot what we have done. Jesus turns away from none."

"Jesus used his hands to help and heal. His awesome power is for real! To save others, Jesus did not fight. And still, there was no match for his might!"

"Jesus came to forgive, so we could truly live. A second chance he does give. Brand new we may be, as Jesus takes away the sin of you and me. Always remember who the true superhero is!"

"Now, be the superhero you can be, Sam! Be large by loving!"

"Be heroic by helping!"

"Be fantastic by forgiving!"

"Love! Help! Forgive! Another hero will live!"

Sam asked his mom to help put on his cape, and they added three letters with tape-L, H, and F.

How can you love? How can you help? How can you forgive?
