A Vampire's Saving Embrace by Darlene Kuncytes

Abigail Montgomery was happy with her life. She was independent, strong and completely content. That all changed the moment the dark, mysterious Desmond LeGrange walked into the bar where she worked.
How could she know that this man who caused her body to tremble would save her from an evil that she didn't even know existed? And why was she so affected by him?
Desmond Lagrange was a man with a past. But when he sees Abby working behind the bar - he is drawn to her in a way he never has been before. And when he saves her life - can he let her go when the time comes - or will the desire she brings out in him be his end?

Absolutely loved this book.  If you enjoy the paranormal genre I suggest you give this one a try.  This book has it all - vampires, werewolves, fey, and witches.  The story is well written.  It is romantic, suspenseful, and has it's fair share of humor.  I fell in love with the characters.  When I finished reading it I had to pick up the next book in the series right away - "A Wolf's Savage Embrace".  I just had to know what happened next.

So, I really enjoyed this book...to a point. The beginning was great, the ending was awesome. I have to get up on my soapbox though. Why must every woman have to be the kind that will overhear something and not either burst in and see what the hell is going on or ask about it later or wait to hear the rest of the conversation? I would. I know I'm not "typical" but, come on! Get a spine. If someone shows you they love you, even if they haven't said those exact words, take it for what it is. Believe in that. *stepping off of soapbox* This was a really good book so don't get me wrong. I can't wait to get the second one and see how Luke's story goes.

For her first novella, Ms. Kuncytes has created a fast-paced story that nicely combines intense sexual interludes, likable characters, an intriguing storyline, flashes of much-appreciated humor, and a cast of secondary characters that even though they're of the paranormal variety are easy to relate to. Though some aspects of the storyline are predictable I still enjoyed the author's writing style and recommend this series starter. Abby starts off as a very independant woman. She appears quite capable of taking care of herself but really just wants to live her life on her own. Unfortunately her life soon takes a dramatic turn where she must rely on another to keep her safe after the night she's attacked by a demon. This leads her to an unexpected world that's been hiding in plain sight and introduces her to an intriguing mix of paranormal creatures. As she gets closer to the mysterious Desmond who saved her she becomes a bit less independant and a bit more clingy towards Desmond. Thus begins their emotional back and forth where they want each other but don't want to admit it. As she's fighting to keep alive and deal with her attraction to Desmond she's also learning the truth about herself and others that provides a nice twist to the story. Desmond is your typical vampire.....sexy and brooding and I found myself drooling over him just like Abby. He's a predator not afraid to shed and drain the blood of an enemy but charming and romantic nonetheless. He's been keeping a close eye on Abby but must get even closer on the night she's attacked by a demon. He's attracted to her from the start and being so close to her brings out his possessive side. He acts irrational at times but these newfound feelings she causes him are hard for him to deal with. He brings her into his inner-circle of fellow paranormal creatures to keep her safe and you slowly see her integration into their unconventional family. There's also unrelenting sexual tension surrounding him and Abby and I enjoyed the progression of their relationship into even more intense encounters even as it frustrated me. Desmond and his friends will do anything to keep her safe and it all comes to a head in an extremely quick yet satisfying conclusion. Ms. Kuncytes has created an entertaining story that has some predictable moments but also a few satisfying twists and turns and a unique spin on traditional vampire myths. The romance is steamy and heartwrenching at times but ultimately culminates in a HEA. There's quite a bit of head hopping which allows the reader to get a better understanding of the character's hearts and minds. There's a delightful assortment of secondary characters that have me excited for the future, especially Luke who's Desmond's werewolf best friend. He's sexy and funny and loyal to those he cares about. Abby's friend Kat is also entertaining and just as loyal as Luke and I have high hopes for them and the continuation of this series. Fans of the paranormal will find much to like about this book even if they've seen some of it before.

I'm not afraid to admit that although the story sounded really interesting. I didn't like the cover, and let's admit it, we do judge books by their covers. I'm not a big lusty cover kinda girl. So it took me a minute to get passed the cover, but once I did, I loved the story. Darlene does an amazing job at weaving the supernatural world together with the real world. This is one of those books that make you wonder, "what if that happened to me?" We all need more books like that, the ones that make us take a moment from our lives and use our imaginations. Remember, that thing in your skull is good for something other than mathematical equations. Sometimes you can use it to create fantastical things. Thank you, Darlene for something that helps that underworked part of our brains. :) The story was well written, the character development and arcs was great. I must say that my eyes kind of glaze over when I read romance novels through the sex scenes- it's just not my thing, but there are SO many amazing stories out there that have the lusty scenes that my mind just turns a blind eye. Yes, this book has sex scenes, they add the sexiness that many associate with vampires, but for me, the story was sexy. Darlene has a gift for writing that brings her reader into the world and makes them feel like they are right there with her characters. This is the first story I've read from her, but I hope she has a lot more out there! I'd love to read them- even if it means I have some brain glazing over moments. I love the story! I recommend this for paranormal romance lovers. It's a good read!

A Vampire’s Saving Embrace is a sensually romantic tale full of vampires, soul mates, and heated moments that will leave you breathless! From the beginning there is a restlessness and edgy tone that is set between Abby and Des. Des is fighting the attraction (and the unfamiliar emotions) and Abby just does not know what his problem is! But when they both succumb, let’s just say falling in love was never so beautiful. It is like the balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet meets and Alpha Male. There are some incredibly romantic scenes that just make you sigh, and then the caveman takes over and you are looking to turn the AC up! There is nothing like an Alpha Male to make a girl sweat! And this Alpha Male just happens to have a voice to die for! There is more to this love story then the “falling in love” stage. To backtrack: Abby is attacked by a demon and Desmond saves her. Through a series of events she ends up staying at his house she he can protect from the evil that is pursuing her. So it is not all roses, there are some pained filled moments and they damn near made me cry. But is was well worth it! The power of the emotions that this story invokes is just intense! So curl up in your comfy place and fall in love with Abby and Des. Laugh with them, cry with them, moan with them, and sigh with them! You won’t regret it! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A Vampire's Saving Embrace by Darlene Kuncytes is a terrific book. It read very quickly for me, I almost felt as if I had read it before but I was drawn completely into the story line. The characters are fun and HOTT, definitely a winter read. I had a bit of trouble with the conversations, they belied the intelligence that Kuncytes had written into her characters, but otherwise, a nearly perfect read.

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian – I Dig Good Books **I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review** Abby is a bartender, barely making it, just trying to get through her shift. She comes face to face with a Demon when Desmond comes to save the day. He gravitated to her, couldn’t function without thinking about her after his first night seeing her at the bar. He feels the need to protect her. Finally he realizes why she is so important. She is the daughter of a very, very important member of the Fey and the demons want her. What will Desmond do to protect her? Can Abby handle the emotions she feels when Desmond is around? Oh baby, did I enjoy this book! Vampires, Fey, Werewolves, witches, and demons – who could ask for a better story? Oh, let’s add some pretty hot and steamy bedroom scenes too! Darlene really did a great job writing this book. I really enjoyed the Vampire’s in this book. They didn’t sparkle but they weren’t too fearsome, they were a perfect mix between scary creatures but loveable. The addition to Abby being part Fey was probably the icing on the cake. If you like to laugh at the banter between siblings, best friends, and lovers’ then this is just another reason to read this book. There were several times I found myself laughing out loud at Marcus and Desmond and Desmond and Luke and of course Desmond and Abby. There was some heartbreaking moments and some incredibly tense moments when you weren’t sure what was going to happen, which causes you to sit on the edge of your seat ignoring the world while you grip whatever you are reading on until your knuckles are white. Yep, I thought it was that good. The detail could have probably been a little better or more descriptive but there is enough there to get the picture and close your eyes and immerse yourself into the story. Take my advice, go pick up a copy and read it immediately. It’s a great, great story!

I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. Abby has sworn off men, they just can't be trusted. So she's not interested in the drop-dead gorgeous hunk of man who's been staring at her for the past three nights, no sirree, not at all. Then someone else shows up who does actually take her mind off the hunky chunk of man flesh but not in a good way. This guy actually creeps her out, so much so that she asks her friend to take over so that she can escape home. Now this bit actually reminded me of the films you watch to scare yourself and the spunky but oh so clueless heroine runs up the stairs, all the while you are shouting at your TV to not go up there yada yada yada. This book is the first in a series and I am already really enjoying it. There is plenty of humour and wit to go around - some of Abby's lines are pure perfection. There is love, loyalty, friendship and of course, miscommunication. This is not a flash in the pan insta-love story (thank goodness) but instead their relationship builds up slowly and seems all the more stronger for it. If I had one thing to say against this book, it would be of Desmond's constant use of "my pet". For some reason, this rubs me the wrong way in every book I read it in, I don't know why, put it down to being a foible of mine! Thoroughly enjoyable and definitely recommended.
