"Delicate and resilient. Like you."
Brina and Eagan meet for the first time when she's nine and he's fourteen. They like each other from the very beginning, though their bond isn't immediate, but it grows over the years. What links them is the fact that their parents are photographers and are extremely devoted to their work and to each other; so much so that both Brina and Eagan have to learn how to take care of themselves from a very young age. Despite their differences, age, gender, nationality - Brina is Italian and Eagan is American - they find comfort in their growing friendship.
Then Brina becomes a teenager, and her feelings for her friend start changing and deepening. New desires stir within her. As soon as Brina realizes how those feelings complicate her friendship with Eagan, she runs away from him.
A few years later, Brina is twenty and Eagan is twenty-five, they find one another once again.

(Recommended for ages 18+, due to sexual content and language).

Publisher's note: This is a fully re-edited and enriched with new and special contents version of the previously published novel, A Veil of Glass and Rain, by Petra F. Bagnardi (aka Petra March).

Praise for "A Veil of Glass and Rain":

Indie Book of the Day Award Winner, October 2nd 2014.

"A Veil of Glass and Rain is a beautifully written, emotionally evocative book that I definitely recommend. The author is, I believe, European, and most of the book takes place in Rome, and the novel had a very European flavor to it that I found refreshing and different from my usual read. It's hard to describe exactly what I mean, but it reminded me of other French and Italian novels I've read-there was a relaxed sensuality to the writing, not only in the love scenes (though those were definitely sensual!) but in the descriptions of scenery, food, emotions, and more." (Stephanie Parent, author of "Precious Things")

Reviewed by Janelle Fila for Readers' Favorite A Veil of Glass and Rain: Special Edition (A Touch of Cinnamon) (Volume 1) by Petra March is a contemporary romance set in Europe that flashes back and forth between past and present to tell the full story of Brina and Eagan's love. Brina and Eagan are two children thrown together by their artistic, needy, and eccentric parents. The two grow up together and when they reconnect at ages twenty and twenty-five, deep feelings stir. This story is about overcoming differences and focusing on similarities. It is told through flashbacks that talk about both characters' childhoods, sometimes together and sometimes separately. Then it brings the reader back into the story with the deepening relationship between Brina and Eagan as they age and mature. Now that they have found each other once again, can they make love last? Will they overlook their differences and focus on what binds them together? A Veil of Glass and Rain is an emotional romance that is beautifully written. Much of the setting is in Rome, giving this story a cool European vibe that was refreshingly different from most romantic reads. It will make readers want to jump onto a plane and travel across the globe. The writing was relaxed and sensual, both in the love scenes and the scenery descriptions. The love scenes were very detailed and explicit in ways that readers will approve of! This story will evoke many strong emotions from readers.

A VEIL OF GLASS AND RAIN is one of those books that intrigued me when I first read the synopsis.  Classified as a young adult read, its reach extends beyond that age with its story. Petra March has created characters that embody much of the angst and hardship that young people face in our world today.  As the synopsis tells us, Brina and Eagan are children of parents who are beyond self-absorbed, preferring the company of each other and the grind of their work and travel to the daily life of parenthood. This leaves both Brina and Eagan to fend for themselves and allows them to create a bond of love that slowly moves over the years from sibling to deep friends to lovers.  Character development is well done with flashbacks into the character's early lives together and separately. The author delves into the psychological elements of growing up as the quintessential “latchkey kid.” Several issues come forward during the story including dealing with death, trust and in Brina’s case, a slight case of agoraphobia. Each adds a fascinating new layer to an already complex relationship. Supporting characters are strong and worthy of their own books, which is the intent of the writer. None overpower the story and Petra March gives us only a taste of who they are, just enough to whet our appetites and keep us reading. It’s the scenery and setting that sets the book apart. The entire story takes place in Italy and the surrounding area. The references and descriptions of life are delightful to read and well-painted for the reader. I highly recommend A VEIL OF GLASS AND RAIN to anyone who wants a young adult story with a difference.  NOTE: This review is based on the special release copy that was provided me. I recommend the special release version over the original however, both are available at retailers.

This book is amazing. I loved reading it. It is such a sweet and touching story about two people who are deeply in love. It captures their feelings and emotions perfectly. A beautifully written romance between two best friends. They crossed the bridge from friendship to falling in love and the author has portrayed their journey. Book is written in first person view. We get to see things from both Brina's and Eagan's perspectives. Brina and Eagan first meet as kids. Their parents are photographers and friends. They travel a lot while the kids stay behind. In a way they both  had lonely lives. So it was easy for them to form a connection. Two of them became close friends. They are always their for each other. But as Brina grows up things start to change. At first they are unable to accept it and drift apart. After staying away from each other for some years they once again get united when Eagan starts a job in Italy. He is in love with Brina but is waiting for the right time to make his move. She, on the other hand, has changes a lot since they parted ways. But she is still in love with him so the real challenge is whether they will complete each other or simply make life more difficult together. They must overcome their fears to be together and have a happy life. The story revolves around their lives, emotions and actions that drew them closer. I loved the way its written and also all the characters around them. It is a must read for romance lovers.

*I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review* I give this emotional and sexy love story 5 stars!!! Brina meets Eagan when she is 10 years old, their parents are friends and met through their love of photography, both sets of parents are obsessed with their work and each other which doesn’t leave much time for their children. Brina and Eagan find comfort and safety in each other and become the best of friends. Eagan is 5 years older and although they live on separate continents they keep in close contact with each other, visiting each other often.  Several years later Brina’s feelings change and she falls madly in love with Eagan but doesn’t know how to manage her feelings putting a strain on their relationship, she deals with it the only way she knows how – to distance herself.  When Brina turns 20 Eagan gets a job in Rome where she lives and wants to renew their friendship, they have both missed each other but she is still in love with him and doesn't know how to be his best friend. She knows Eagan is her soul mate, her family but she has no idea if he feels the same.  Eagan is everything to her!   Wow this book is simply amazing, I absolutely loved it! A Veil of Glass and Rain has become my favourite New Adult novel so when I was asked if I would like to read the special edition how could I possibly refuse. This book is a story of loyalty and a strong bond of friendship and love. The characters and their feelings are so believable it will bring tears to your eyes, it’s the most alluring love story you will ever read and will have your nerve endings tingling long before you reach the ending. I fell in love with Brina and Eagan almost immediately and their journey will have you floating on the same emotional ride. Trust me this story had me smiling at the little things, crying when they did and I never want to forget the goose bumps I felt during their love making scenes, this story left me wanting to find this kind of love for myself. Thank you so much Petra March for sharing Brina and Eagan with me once again, your writing is simply beautiful and so real that it’s impossible to disbelieve their story, on a previous review I said that you was an emotional writer which makes it hard for the reader to put your book down and I stand by this statement, I read your book in 3 sittings but if I’d have had the opportunity it would have been less.  A Veil of Glass and Rain: Special Edition is on my favourite books shelf on Goodreads and I definitely recommend to all New Adult and Romantic Literature fans, this one needs to be on your to read list, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
