This was a delightful anthology of 6 holiday-themed novellas revolving around the existence of the Fae. Several of the stories have a connection to other books in those author’s worlds, and I’ll definitely be seeking them out. The stories may have all been very different, ranging from Regency England past to urban fantasy present, but they all shared the same excellent story-telling from beginning to end.

This is a solid collection of novellas centered around interactions between humans and the Fae, in and around the Christmas season. The six stories range in tone and style from Victorian romance (Meara Platt's A Mistletoe Kiss, which starts out almost reminiscent of Peter Pan, before quickly veering into light and semi-steamy romance) to urban fantasy (Ruth Vincent's Above Thy Deep and Dreamless Sleep, which features a changeling P.I. dealing with an unusually difficult family situation over the holidays) to a Dresden Files-esque potboiler (Bishop O'Connell's The Greatest Gift of All, which is dark, gritty, and thoroughly modern.) There's enough variety here that you probably won't love every piece. I really enjoyed the more modern settings, and had a bit more trouble getting into the earlier pieces, which are set in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. On the plus side, though, if you enjoy well-written fantasy, you'll almost certainly find something here to love - particularly if you're a fan of faeries and/or Christmas, and who isn't? Bottom line? If you're into fantasy literature, there's almost certainly something here for you. Highly recommended.
