PreS-Gr 2—This series offers basic information about various community environments while supporting emergent reading skills. Quality, on-topic photographs accompany simple, formulaic text introducing budding readers to a variety of settings. Abundant reading reinforcement activities are found in the back matter and address a variety of literacy skills. Topics include the use of apostrophes and letter-sound combinations. The craft and structure of informational writing are addressed, along with close reading activities and ideas to promote reading fluency.
