It's been over twenty years since the fateful day that the might of the Zoarinian Empire's great army was destroyed within the Valley Lands. Since then it has been a time of peace and prosperity throughout the Valley Lands under the guidance of Roric Ta'lont, but is another war coming to the Valley Lands? A dark war not able to be won by the sword alone?
The past two years have been uneasy ones for Roric. Rumors of a dark cult and its increasing influence have been spreading throughout the Southern Settlements. Roric fears that it's only a matter of time before it invades the Valley Lands with its darkness of belief. Will the people resist its dark influence? How can they? The people have already drifted from the faith of their fathers and are ripe for a takeover of their souls in a war of the spirit. Something has to be done, but what? A war has begun in which a sword might not even be raised to win the hearts of the people. How does one fight an idea that has the backing of a dark leader that endows his followers with powers that terrify the soul? The enemy has a complete work of dark import, while Roric's people have but the tattered remnants of the word of God caused by a tragedy long ago in their past. How can Roric inspire faith in the people, when the people don't have the instruction they need to resist darkness's wiles and deceptions? A bold plan is called for and Roric finds the means to accomplish it buried in a secret place far below the mountain that Thunder Ridge castle was built upon. A place of secrets as old as the time of Roric's people on this world, watched over by a guardian that answers only to the house of Ta'lont.

Book exchanged for an honest review~ Zevin Ta'lont is twin to Gavin and has older brother named Talaric as well as two sisters. Zevin's father Roric has ruled Thunder Valley for many years. Roric follows the ways of The Creator and lives by example. Roric deals with an assassination attempt from his own people. Rumors abound of a new cult gaining ground this disturbs Roric and seeks The Creator's direction. Talaric has been spoiled by his father's attentions and lords it over Gavin and Zevin. Roric discovers that the lack of Holy Scriptures is the cause of his people losing faith. Roric sends men on a mission to gain Holy Scriptures back on Earth. Will the mission succeed? Your answers await you in A Warrior's Journey. This second book takes place twenty-two years later. The characters and story are both compelling, fascinating, and humbling too. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Excellent book, Hard to put it down!! A Warrior's Journey (The Warrior Kind) By Guy Stanton III What a delight to get back to Valley Landers and in touch with the wonderful characters Stanton has created in his series, The Warrior Kind. We find our hero warrior from book one, Roric, matured and fully accepting of his destiny as the Valley Lander's leader. We saw him unpolished and uncertain at times in the first book, but he has clearly realized this is God's plan for his life and he allows God's annointing to work through him. He has also became a spiritual leader. The life lessons Stanton brings through his characters seep into your being even as you are engrossed in a storyline that moves you quickly through the pages. In Roric we see so many timely messages for Christian leadership. Stanton does so in such a no nonsense way it is refreshing. His writing is clearly supportive of the family unit and the role each member plays. As he depicts Roric and Kristin's lovestory we see the God-honoring tradition of marriage,. We see love, flirting, mutual respect, communcation, passion and romance. Stanton is not shy about writing passion and intimaticy allowing his characters to feel desire, passion and intimacy. He does so gracefully. It is evidenced in A Warrior's Journey that Stanton is improving his craft. This book was excellent. An edge of your seat plot, descriptive setting, wonderfully developed characters while weaving a story for us which is not simple, predictable text. He builds us world separate to the one we know. We get to know their lifestyle, government, culture, their people and their zeal to protect their world. He then expands our minds as he shows us the role of good versus evil in this land. The difference in a faith founded on God's word versus one where wicked priests, child sacrifice and all sorts of sin rule. We do still have neighboring enemies but do not have as many battles to fight now as our focus moves to locating a copy of the Bible. This takes us on a journey revealing the strength of character of some of our warriors, introduces new allies and a world of new enemies. Time to start book three,
Not so great editing. Some wrong words and such, but the story was so great that I could get past the mistakes. Loved book one, and this book was twice as exciting! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! - Marta
This is the second book of the Warrior Kind series. I have read the first one and it was fantastic. This second one is even more so. Roric and Krista have a fine family that have grown up into wonderful individuals. The people of the Valley Lands want to have the complete word of the Creator. There are evil priests influencing the people in a very bad way. They feel if they have the complete word of the Creator, things can be turned around. They know that it is possible that they may be able to find it on earth, where their ancestors came from. They have technology that those ancestors brought with them and hid for a long time. Now that technology has been revealed and they will use it to travel to earth to find the complete Bible. This story is even more developed and a lot more suspenseful than the previous one. It had me on the edge of my seat biting my fingernails all the way with the suspense. The Christian element is what I really love. Its there in a very positive way and not sounding preachy to me at all. I have again been reminded of things that I needed and appreciate the author and this story very much. I am so into this series, I can't wait for the next one. I received this from the author for an honest review.
