A Week in New York by Louise Bay

Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She's tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she's a magnet for men who don't deserve her.

A week's vacation in New York is the ultimate distraction from her most recent break-up, as well as a great place to meet a stranger and have some summer fun. But to protect her still-bruised heart, fun comes with rules. There will be no sharing stories, no swapping numbers, and no real names. Just one night of uncomplicated fun.

Super-successful serial seducer Ethan Scott has some rules of his own. He doesn't date, he doesn't stay the night, and he doesn't make any promises.

It should be a match made in heaven. But rules are made to be broken.

A Week in New York is the first in a series of three novellas.

About the Author

I write sexy, contemporary romance novels. My first novel Faithful was released in April 2014 and the second, Hopeful, was released July 15 2014.
Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, I love all things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so I'll settle for books and films.
I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don't have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

Ethan and Anna agrees to sex with no commitments after a one night stand. She is in New York City for a week only. Will one week together be enough? A Week in New York is part one in The Empire State series.

A Week In New York is an addicting, romantic read that will sweep you off your feet. This book was FANTABULOUS! Yes, fantastic and fabulous all in one! It was full of romance, some super sexy and erotic scenes, and kept me hooked to every single word on every single page. Anna is trying to get over a nasty break-up, and in walks Ethan - a super hot, super rich man who can fulfill her every desire. But, she has rules! She isn't going to go into another relationship, since the last one didn't go to well. Yet, something builds between them - something hot and desirable. A Week in New York follows these characters and their antics while Anna is in New York (hence, the title). The book is mega hot - there's sexy, erotic scenes that will get your heart racing! It's not the dirtiest or most R rated I've read, but it's still really hot! The down and dirty time is written well and will get you heated! There's more sex than romance, but it is a nice fit between these two characters. Their chemistry makes this sort of relationship work well, but that's because Louise Bay is a fantastic writer. She develops their relationship really well within the constraints of one short novel. I honestly can't wait to see how this pair develops in the future installments. I also really enjoyed the references throughout this novel - they are romantic yet nerdy references that really added to the story. It makes it feel more real than it is. My only con is - WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ENDING?! A cliffhanger?! Louise Bay wants to kill me! I HAVE to keep reading this series after she had me fall in love with these characters and want to know what happens to Anna and Ethan! What a jerk she is! Being a good writer and making me want more! I would highly recommend this sexy novel to anyone who loves romance and erotica. It's also a short read and highly addicting, so if you're looking for a simple novel to read in one sitting - you've found it! Five out of five stars! Holy heck, that was hot! I read this book from the anthology "A Love Thing".

Nice story, but very frustrating due to a cutoff at the end of various chapters. I had to constantly change the font size and type to try to make it viewable on my Nook. Unfortunately , it didn't always fix the problem. Not sure I want to spend more money on buying additional books by this author

I enjoyed the story and loved the characters, but it needed an editor and professional formatter.

Anna has just come out of a bad relationship and isn't looking for anything series. Ethan is a player and is happy with how his life is. They meet in a bar and the rules are established and so begins their dance. Anna is in town for a week so taking a chance Anna agrees. This is the first installment in Anna and Ethan's love story. This is the first book I've read from this author but after reading this have since bought more and will be watching for her books in the future. This book leaves you wanting more. My advice is get all of them to read at one time you won't regret it.

Ethan Scott oozes money, power and sex, but his philosophy is simple; f**k them but don't get involved! Anna is in New York for a week to spend time with her best friend whilst she recovers from the latest of her failed relationships. Anna's new romantic theory is definitely, No Men! It is not a case of insta-love the night they meet. The desire they experience for each other takes them both by surprise and leads them into making a holiday fling arrangement. Louise Bay is clever and writes using both viewpoints, but unusually we see Ethan opening up more than Anna. Whilst she is guarded, he makes no pretense of wanting to spend all the time he can with her, in and out of the bedroom. In my opinion, in books like A Week in New York it can be difficult for the author to find a balance between the steaminess and plot substance. In parts this does become , 'today we had sex . .again and again', which not only turns us readers green with envy, but becomes repetitive. A Week in New York is a short but HOT read - perfect with an afternoon cup of coffee. Luckily I am following this up with Autumn in London! I received this as a complimentary review copy, but this has had no influence on my opinion.

This novella was adorable and steamy at the same time. That's a tough combination to pull off!  I have always been a fan of novella series. I think its fun to break the story up into smaller parts. Maybe it’s because if it were one long novel, I would read right through until the very end and life would pass me right on by! A novella series gives me a place to stop and do other things for a while. All though, it doesn’t always work out that way, sometimes I can’t help but move right on to the next one. That was the case with A Week in London.  Anna and Ethan have a chance meeting in a bar and start a whirlwind, week long romance before Anna must head back home to London. They agree to no strings, no attachments, and no contact. However, the sparks that fly between them start to go much deeper and when the week is over, they are reluctant to part. And yet…they do. Cliffhanger warning!!!! I was expecting one though.  Anna and Ethan both have a sense of humor that had me chuckling from time to time. I liked the fact that they had personalities for me to get to know. There is certainly quite a bit of sex, but I didn’t feel as though it was overdone. It is however, HOT!!!  I’m anxious to resolve the cliffhanger and see what happens to Ethan and Anna in Autumn in London.

Louise Bay brings us a sexy novella about recovering from heartbreak by jumping back into the pool. Anna Kirby can’t buy a decent boyfriend, but a week’s vacation in the Big Apple and a chance meeting with a gorgeous man allows her to do just that. A WEEK IN NEW YORK is sexy, smart and even a little fun. The characters are engaging and real. We all know someone like Anna or maybe we are Anna. Ethan is the quintessential handsome young urban professional with his choice of women, the man we all want to have for ourselves. Supporting characters are well-drawn and the scenery is high end New York style. But it’s the characters of Anna and Ethan that stand out. The book is part one of three in the Empire State Series and there’s no cliffhanger at the end. Instead, the book ends with a conclusion, a pleasant surprise for a series novella. I highly recommend A WEEK IN NEW YORK for a smart and sexy good time!

A Week in New York is this first part in a three part novella series. That means it is a short quick read and it leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed reading it. I was able to read it in one sitting. Anna is from London and after a break up she goes to New York with a friend. She meets Ethan in New York. They both have rules they follow when hooking up. Ethan's a sexy player. He and Anna seems perfect for each other while Anna is in New York. I thought Ethan was a good rebound guy for Anna but somewhere along the line feelings out involved. Some thing happens towards the end that surprised me. At that part, I found myself yelling at Anna to stop what she was doing. I can't wait to read the next one.

This is the 1st book in the trilogy and I quite enjoyed this book – it was fun, fast paced and quite steamy, or veeeeeeeeerra steamy!! Not for under 18!! The story is about Anna Kirby and Ethan Scott, Anna is in New York with her best friend to escape her heartbreak… She swears off men till she meets Ethan in a bar. Meets is an understatement – Ethan notices her and feels an attraction to her. Ethan who normally has got rules with women – take them to a hotel, have a hot steamy night and no attachments, no sleeping in the same bed, not bringing home and forget the next day. But when he approaches Anna, she basically tells him she has got rules (not knowing he does them too) and agrees to a hot steamy night! To keep anonymity she wants ‘fake’ names, Ethan gives her a name after dismissing the other ones and comes up with ….. Drumroll… Anna! Now… at this one I wasn’t sure if I found that brilliant or cheesy! But hey, it worked! Their chemistry is amazing! I loved reading about them, about Ethan and Anna and how they slowly got attracted to each other and from the beginning already breaking rules! Especially when Ethan basically brings her to meet his family and ends up at his house! They decide to have a one week fling in New York (yeah we heard that one before haha) as she’s only there for a week. Her best friend, she couldn’t have asked for a better one, she was fine with her going off with her ‘catch’ but I think they are both getting attached to each other. As I said, their chemistry is amazing and when it ended I wanted more, read more, I needed more of Ethan and Anna! Counting down to their next book – so I can see where they left off after Anna going back to UK after a week in New York ^_~

Rules are rules and not meant to be broken. Correct? Anna set the rules plain and simple the moment Ethan tried to pick her up at the bar. She was only in town for a week, not interested in dating men, and if he wanted sex with her, it would have to be a one-night-stand. In addition, no real names were to be exchanged, no personal information, and he was required to "suit up" for the complete treatment. I had to laugh when I read this. She was covering all the bases and was laying down the law. Ethan did not disagree, either! This was perfect! He NEVER dated a girl, NEVER had sleepovers, and NEVER called or saw the same girl twice ( with two exceptions). He was not into complicating his life. We all know we can plan lay down the law, but life has a way of playing with us and rules are meant to be broken. We are all human after all. These two lovers fall all over each other .... and shut the front door and put a DO NOT DISTURB sign up for sure. HOT, passionate, straight forward and endearing. I promise you will read this book with a smile on your face. I want these two lovers ... wait! No spoilers here! I will give you a hint... Autumn in London is book #2 in this series and is due to be released December 14th! Oh what a Christmas gift!
