This was a great story...couldn't put it down. loved how Minerva was book smart but inexperienced in life...and Colin was wild and crazy. Total opposites. And they taught each other how to come out of their shells...the adventure to Scotland was fun to read and I couldn't wait to see what else they were going to get themselves into. The ending was a little predictable but that was ok. the love scenes were wonderful and even humorous which totally worked. Funny, Heartwarming, Sexy, & Adventurous - who could ask for more?!

The latest in the Spindle Cove series this novel is one of the best romances I read in a while. Minerva Highwood is determined that Lord Payne does not marry her sister. In an attempt to deter the apparently pending proposal, she proposes they travel to Scotland to present her latest geological findings to the scientific community so that Payne can keep the prize money. They seem like an unlikely match, Payne a handsome womanizer, Minerva a bespectacled bluestocking with a love of rocks. Yet in the author’s hands it is believable that opposites attract. The dialogue is great and even better is Minerva’s character. You’ve got to love a heroine who embroiders extinct sea creatures onto her wedding trousseau.

This story of Minerva ( A SELF PROCLAIMED GEOLOGIST ) and Lord Colin Payne ( Rake) was inspiring. Two very different people set out ona trip and find all sorts of adventure to get into. But along the way they discover they both can bring out the better qualities in each other and loved each other flaws also. I loved this book along with the other Spindle Cove books by Tessa Dare.

Bookish, awkward Minerva and carefree Colin both have their insecurities and I loved reading about their struggles to overcome these insecurities on their own and as a couple. I also liked that the author allowed them to have a little time to get to know one another before their eventual, eventful journey. Tessa Dare throws in some snappy, really funny dialogue and situations, but she truly shines when they finally declare their love for one another. Colin's declaration is wonderful, lovely and romantic, in the best sense of the word. Loved this book!

Absolutely amazing! This is one of my favorites from Dare. Minerva is such a strong willed woman who refuses to quit her passion because it is unconventional of a lady during the time period. Anyone who has ever felt left out of the crowd or had interests that others do not share will definitely relate to Minerva. She refuses to let society or her mother put her down and works to become a well-known geologist. She is brave and strong enough to face Colin who she "hates" or does she? She creates a plan to get her to symposium to present her geological findings and needs Colin's help in doing so. Their travel time together is one of adventure, secret sharing, and self discovery. The attraction Colin feels for Minerva is heart felt and endearing. I love the ending how Colin gets to do something he truly wants (I won't spoil it) the traditional way. Their love story is so believable and heart warming. Amazing read, you can't go wrong with this one!

Oh man, I really liked the heroine in this book so very much. Minerva Highwood is brilliant and nerdy and loves to study rocks. She desperately needs to get to Scotland so she can present her finds to the Royal Geological Society of Scotland. So she hatches up a plan involving Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne and a fake elopement to Scotland. They drive each other batty, but neither can deny there is an attraction on both ends. Colin's attraction is not because she suddenly grows beautiful by getting rid of her glasses and wearing better dresses. No, she attracts him because she is nerdy and very much because she surprises him. They both hide behind a shell they've built around themselves. But as they travel through England they start breaking through those shells. It was extremely enjoyable to watch. Also Colin made me laugh, which is always a major plus for me.

I’m fastly becoming a fan of Tessa Dare, I dare say. This is my first book of the Spindle Cove series (I didn’t start the series in sequence) and it was fantastic. It was well-paced and the characters are well developed and likeable. And they’re funny! I love Ms. Dare’s sense of humor and wit and it really comes thru in this book. The relationship and how it develops is realistic and believable, although there are some moments of suspended belief it’s certainly not as much as in most books. I did hope for a slightly different ending for our heroine but I can appreciate that Ms. Dare was working within the confines of... reality. A good fun read that keeps you engaged page after page. I really enjoyed her Castles series (especially book 3 about Logan and Madeline) and didn’t think I’d find something as witty and fun and I’m glad I was proven wrong with this book. It makes me curios about the rest of the Spindle Cove ladies.
