Alice Sommers slammed the door of her red Ford Focus. Did her AC seriously have to break again, on the hottest Texas summer night? She locked the car, even though no one in this area would be interested in it or its contents.
Grabbing an elastic band from her pocket, she pulled her hair up in a high ponytail. Sucks to be me. She turned to cross the street to Lorenzo Baldi's exclusive building when she was thrown against her car.
An ache shot up her spine as her back slammed across the metal. She squinted at a tall bald man with a neck tattoo. "What the hell?" she managed past her parted lips.
"You can't ignore me anymore. I want my money, bitch," he said, and she recognized his raspy voice.
A bone-chilling cold spilled into her veins and stilled her blood. For a moment, she wasn't even sure her heart was beating. As the man clamped his slimy hands around her arm, her heart thumped with a vengeance.
She pushed past the fear lodged in her dry throat. Suddenly the speeding ticket she got earlier and sweating like a whore in church while she drove weren't the worst parts of her day anymore. The man whose hands kept her from moving, and whose body was too close to hers for comfort, was Buck — the loan shark she had avoided like the flu for the past three days.
She tried to disentangle herself from him. "Listen, I was going to call you ... I don't have the money right now, but I swear if we can come up with some sort of payment plan — "
"Payment plan?" He let out a hearty chuckle, then snorted. "There ain't none in this business. I'm giving you seven days to come up with the money."
Was he crazy? "That's impossible. How can I get fifteen thousand dollars in a week?"
"Hey, wait a minute. No. You told me my sister owed you — "
He tightened his grip, and she gasped. "Sweetheart, I usually give a lot less time. Since Rachel is a nut job, I'm cutting you some slack. But I'm in this for profit. So twenty it is."
"Oh yeah? What are you going to do if I'm a day late?" She injected some confidence in her voice, even though her palms were slick with cold sweat.
He let go of her arms. She took a deep breath and motioned to push him away, making complete use of her newfound freedom. The bastard, however, outmaneuvered her and pushed her against the car again. "I know where you and your fucked-up sister and niece live. I even know where your mother lives. Not to mention where you work."
A shiver zapped down her spine. "Leave them out of this."
"That's up to you, ain't it?" He loosened his grip, but the evil in his black eyes kept her locked in place. How could she move when her entire body was one big knot of trembling tension? Her blood thrummed in her veins. "If you tell anyone about this little warning, you're dead meat. If you don't bring me the money in one week, you're dead meat. If you don't answer your fucking cell phone when I call — "
"I'm prosciutto. Got it."
He narrowed his eyes. "Good." He stroked her cheek, and she jerked away from him. "Wouldn't want anything to happen to this pretty face."
She shot him a look of disgust, and he winked at her. Unfazed, he got in his car, which she realized was parked behind hers. A vintage white Cadillac. Did Buck moonlight as a pimp? Jeez.
She drew in a deep breath. Speculating about that creep's after-hours activities wasn't going to help her come up with a solution.
It took her longer than usual to move her wobbly legs and walk across the street once he was gone.
With trembling fingers, she grabbed her cell phone from her bag and called Georgia, who was vacationing in the Caribbean with her boyfriend Brent and their kids. She hadn't yet told her best friend about Rachel's latest stunt, quite aware Georgia would tell her off for being a pushover. Easy for her to say.
Shit, what could Alice do? With her mom, bipolar sister, and six-year-old niece Brenda, she didn't have much choice. Especially after she'd promised Dad, before he died in the hospital following a car accident, that she would watch over them. Why didn't he specify a time frame? The rest of her life seemed like a long freaking time.
"Hi, Alice!" Georgia answered after the third ring, her voice perkier than usual. "I'm so happy you called. I was just telling Brent and the girls I had to call you." She giggled.
Alice sucked in her breath. How long was it socially acceptable to listen to someone's happy vacation stories before venting about your miserable day and the threat against your life? Worse, against your family? She mouthed a greeting to the doorman as he opened the door to the imposing lobby. "Really?"
"Guess what?" Georgia squealed. "Brent proposed to me last night! We're getting married."
"Wow," Alice exclaimed, the genuine happiness for her friend wrestling against her need to share her craptastic day. Could she still tell Georgia about her speeding ticket, and how this crazy man threatened to kill her if she didn't come up with twenty thousand dollars? "That's amazing! Congratulations." She managed to sound cheerful and got into the elevator, pressing in the password for access to the lavish penthouse.
"Thank you. You know who's going to be my fabulous maid of honor, right?"
If I'm still alive. She clenched the phone in her hand, her knuckles whitening. "Listen, Georgia — "
"Nope. I won't take no for an answer. Today is the happiest day of my life, and don't you dare ruin it." Georgia chuckled.
At that point, Alice didn't need to glance at her reflection in the majestic mirror in the hallway leading to Lorenzo's penthouse to know she was super pale. There was no way she would ruin her BFF's happy day with her problems. She had to give her at least twenty-four hours, or wait a couple days for her to come back from vacation.
"I'll be happy to be your maid of honor, but I need seventy-five percent decision power when it comes to my dress," she said, the amateur stylist inside her screaming for some wiggle room.
"How about fifty-fifty?"
Happiest day of her life or not, Georgia was still a fierce negotiator. Alice bit back a smile — and never missed her friend like she did now. "Deal. Hey, can I call you back later? My phone is about to die." And so am I, she added inwardly.
"Sure. Call me when you get a chance. Love you. Bye."
Alice ended the call and was about to shove the cell in her pocket when it buzzed in her palm. She closed her eyes, took a long, deep breath, and opened them. A text.
I forgot to tell you. I was able to make an appointment for your sister with the new doctor. Love, Mom.
Seriously, why did her mother have to get a smartphone? Moments of complete peace of mind were so few and far between that going over to her boss's place to feed the bird while he and his daughter were out of town was her pathetic little getaway.
She strolled into the ginormous living area. Ms. Suarez, the housekeeper, had cleaned before leaving on a well-deserved one-month vacation in Mexico.
The scent of the leather furniture mixed with hardwood flooring teased her nostrils. Another fragrance swirled in the air, one that was as tantalizing as the man who wore it. A hint of nutmeg and mandarin, with a dash of cucumber.
Lorenzo Baldi. A thrill of excitement coursed through her, and she quivered as if someone had poked her with a feather. His trademark scent clung to the curved chairs scattered in the open living area. Artwork worth millions hung on the walls.
Alice slid her fingers along a glass lamp, the texture under her touch rich and rough. Just like the man who had bought it. Twelve months she had worked for him, and during that time she had fantasized about all the wicked ways she could bring a smile to his face. The thought alone sent a rumble through her body.
Forget it. She would never ever witness Mr. B's sexual skills. Why not? She went through the list in her brain, like she did every morning to keep her in her place. One: She was still recovering from a breakup. Did she really need to set herself up for failure again? Had she learned nothing from trying to turn her relationship with Joshua into something that it wasn't? Two: Losing this gig was not an option, not with the amazing family health insurance he provided, which guaranteed her sister's treatment for the most part. Three: He was Cara's dad, and she loved the little nine-year-old too much to mess with her head.
Besides, Lorenzo never gave her a lingering glance or engaged in any kind of suggestive behavior. Nope. Nada. He was all business.
She would be better off stalking James Franco on Instagram. Yep. James's posts were a lot more personable than Lorenzo's tight half smiles or curt nods.
Nibbles squeaked, and she spun around to face the large wrought-iron cage. "Hi, little fellow." He squeaked again, and she grabbed a handful of bird food pellets and threw them in his bowl. She headed to the outdoor area. A gentle breeze curled the tips of her hair. Her cell phone buzzed again. Another text from her mom.
He doesn't take insurance, but he's been highly recommended. Love, Mom.
Well, of course he doesn't.
Alice typed, then turned off her cell phone and tossed it on the lounge chair. The lights from downtown Austin, only a few miles away, skipped through the manicured bushes of the penthouse. The set of outdoor furniture still had tags on it. She eyed the kidney-shaped pool on the rooftop terrace, the water so still and lifeless it could have been a painting like those inside.
She removed her shoes and dropped them on the natural stone tiles. Her dress clung to her sweaty body. She would give anything to plunge into that pool and, just for a moment, forget about all her problems.
Why not? Mr. B was away on a business trip, and Cara was at a girl's leadership camp an hour away. No one would ever know.
Reaching for the zipper at her back, she swallowed. She'd been fantasizing about skinny-dipping in that pool for months. After the day she had, wasn't she entitled to an itty-bitty indulgence?
Yes. Hell to the yes. Giggling like a schoolgirl who had just ditched class, she let her worries roll down her back. Shaking her shoulders, she walked to the edge of the pool, entranced by the tranquility of her surroundings.
Sure, she had swum here with Cara a couple times, but watching over a nine-year-old was quite different than indulging in a nice, relaxing swim with no one around. She slipped one bare toe into the water, and the mild temperature prickled her skin. Tonight, this is my alcohol. My chocolate. My cigarette.
She unzipped her dress, and the jersey fabric slid down her body like it was luxurious silk. Chuckling, she removed her multicolored bra, tossing it on the stone floor. When her panties pooled at her feet, a smile formed on her lips. The cool evening air caused a goose-bump effect throughout her body. Her toes curled against the border of the pristine pool.
She glanced around.
The penthouse suite in the Austin skyscraper gave her an ironic sense of privacy. She had deactivated the alarm system, and the only artificial light glared from inside the pool, which was adorned with a selection of cool golden and orange tiles.
Embracing the serenity around her, she took the plunge. At least right now, nothing could go wrong.
Lorenzo Baldi gestured for Viola Campello to enter the elevator and followed suit. Viola. The woman who held the key to unlocking his deepest desire, the one he had craved forever.
The doors closed in front of them, and he bit back a smile. So. Close. "I'll make your time worthwhile, Ms. Campello."
The short woman's high heels tapped on the elevator floor, and she folded her arms. Even though the weather was rather warm, an oversize plaid trench coat snugged her petite frame. "I hope so. You are persistent, Lorenzo." She narrowed her eyes at him. "Persistence often annoys me, but I'm intrigued to see your art collection. I'm a sucker for nineteenth-century landscapes."
He'd guessed right that a glimpse at his collection would tickle her enough to detour her before she headed to the airport. She was a cold fish, this one, and he'd had to channel every ounce of charm to get her to agree. "I appreciate it. Will you have a drink while I tell you my plans for your husband's art collection?"
"Ex-husband." She straightened her spine and inhaled, and the little progress he thought he'd made vanished like powder against the wind. "And no alcohol for me."
"Of course." He cracked his knuckles. Don't screw this up. An invisible clock ticked inside him, his heart thumping with each passing second. "I'm surprised you are so attached to the paintings, what with the artist being fairly unknown."
"My ex-husband bought them from the man himself, and they bonded over weekends of debauchery back in the day. Carlo wanted to keep them very badly during the divorce negotiations." She cleared her throat. "So I fought for them, to teach him we can't have everything we want."
I can and I will. He'd heard Viola was going to give a lavish weekend-long party to celebrate the winnings of her divorce, and rumor had it she would also use the opportunity to find dealers to represent her in selling her ex's most beloved items. If he convinced her to sell him her paintings before the weekend, he would acquire the unseen early work of one of the most talented artists he'd ever known, Benicio Laron. Lorenzo's plan was to buy them and hide the artwork, instead of capitalizing on it. That way no one should find out Benicio's real name was Bernardo Baldi. His father.
There was too much at stake. As it stood, no one knew about Benicio's masterpieces. However, if Viola sold them or granted the commission of their paintings to anyone else, the world of fine arts would dig and discover the life of transgression his father led — including a trail of prostitutes, alcoholism, and riots against the Italian government. According to his lawyer, there were even rumors linking his late father to terrorism.
As a child, Lorenzo had been taken to meetings in destitute parts of town, having no idea what was being discussed. How would he maintain his place in society if people pegged him as the son of a terrorist? How could he protect Cara from the stigma that was associated with it? He couldn't risk it. If Viola, or anyone, discovered just how much that meant to him, his chances of acquiring the paintings were nil. Kristin, his late wife, had laughed at him countless times, saying no matter where he went, his shameful roots would always follow him. Only by purchasing the paintings would he prove her wrong once and for all.
"Make yourself at home," Lorenzo said as he opened the door for the sixty-year-old woman and motioned to the living room.
"You have kids?" She pointed at the picture of Cara, and at last he saw a genuine smile touch her lips. Phew.
"One. Cara is nine. She's at a camp now."
The parrot squeaked, and she strolled to the cage. She trailed the wrought-iron cage confining the bird, her fingers gliding over the metal. "It's a lovebird, isn't it?" Viola turned to him, her expression softening.
Was it? The only thing he knew was that Cara and her bubbly, chatty nanny had insisted he let them keep it, and he'd caved. "Nibbles." He stared at the subject of Viola's fascination.
She stretched her fingers into the large cage, and Nibbles flew to her, opening and closing his green wings, then shook his orange head.
If Lorenzo had known that a cheap bird was the path to her good graces, he'd have sent her the noisy thing months ago. First class.
"Would you like some tea or coffee?"
"Coffee. Do you mind if I look around?" She focused her attention on his art. A few oil canvases stretched over a sizable part of his living area wall, the strong yet subtle strokes of pastel colors portraying a remote landscape.
"Please do. I'll be right back."
Coffee. Coffee. He dashed for the kitchen and turned on the espresso machine. How lucky had he been to hear from his assistant that Viola Campello had popped up in Austin to close on a business deal? Lucky enough to hurry back from a business trip to New York City and torment her with emails until she agreed to meet him before taking off again.
A splashing sound got his attention. He pulled up the blinds.

There was no chemistry between the two main characters. I tried to like it but just gave up after 2/3 through.
This was a great read. Alice and Lorenzo are each hiding something from the other, and start off as basically using the other to find a means to an end of their individual situations. I loved that neither really made the other feel like crap (usually). Alice is definitely the caretaker type, but my heart breaks for her as she tries to keep a deathbed promise (and I really want to smack the person who put that weight on her shoulders. Lorenzo is a sexy hero who you will fall in love with, along with wanting to drag him out of the room to try and talk sense in to him. The secondary characters added so much to this book, creating just the right amount of drama. I would definitely recommend one clicking.
Some women have all the luck. What woman wouldn't want to spend a weekend misbehaving with an awesome looking millionaire. Alice feels this way about her boss, Lorenzo. Lorenzo just sees her as a Nanny for his daughter. He is out of town one week and Alice is having a bad day so she decides to go skinny dipping in his pool. He decides to come home a day early with a potential client and sees Alice in the pool. One thing leads to another and Alice temporarily saves the business deal for him. They go out of town to the clients house and what transpires from there is magical to say the least. Carmen Falcone has done an excellent job with this book. It holds your interest from the very beginning to the end. She writes so that you feel that you are there living and breathing the story with the characters. Awesome book I think everyone who picks this up will feel the same way. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
First I want to say that I did enjoy Alice. She stood up for herself and never took any crap. She voiced her feelings and was confident in herself. Yes to the big girl. Curvy and healthy. Lorenzo was the typical "Not looking for a relationship" guy but he was kind, thoughtful and sexxxxxy. Unfortunately... This book dragged to me. I'm pretty open and not too picky, but even I got bored and started skipping through this book to the end. Cause I like to finish what I started. But it was harrrd. Ended as you would expect. But decide for yourself. I like reviews but they dont determine if I read a book or not. All I can say is... Not horrible but not omg worthy either. It was ehhhhh. Fyi to the author... Nice touch with the female piercing. Did not expect that! In a good way. Lol
Alice has a lot going on with her family and works as a nanny for Lorenzo(Mr. B). While she is skinny dipping, Lorenzo comes home with a client. He introduces Alice as his fiance. They are invited to Capri for the weekend and can't say no. What will happen over the course of the weekend? I loved Alice from the beginning! She is curvy, caring and strong! The sex scenes between Lorenzo and Alice are seriously steamy. Carmen knows how to write a story with characters that just pull you in! I think you should read this one!
*ARC received from Entangled Publishing in return for an honest review* Lorenzo never really took notice of Alice before, not as anything other than his daughter's nanny. He never noticed her beauty or her curves until he saw her rising out of his pool, naked. Now that's almost all he can think about except the deal to acquire his anarchist father's paintings which is slipping out of his grasp thanks to Alice's ill-timed dip in the pool. Desperate to save himself from potential ruin should anyone find out his connection to the artist, he blackmails Alice into pretending to be his fiance. Alice, weighed down by the needs of her family, has a loan shark demanding payment, so she agrees to Lorenzo's plan to go to Capri as his fiance in exchange for $20,000. Despite her long standing crush on her employer, she never expected the intense desire between them as they give in to a 'weekend of misbehaving'. Will Lorenzo get the paintings? Will Alice be able to pay off the loan shark? Will either of them survive the weekend with their hearts intact? Read this book and find out!
I loved the character of Alice. She was so selfless, so full of life and personality. I adored her relationship with Cara and Brenda. Her character was developed with strength and strong shoulders to carry the weight of her world. The new phase of Alice and Lorenzo's relationship was sizzling. She brought him to life and made him seek out more spontaneity. He was so sweet and loving with Cara. Total swoon worthy scenes with his daughter. Alice and Lorenzo's story was sweet, fun with a beautiful ending to bring their story full circle. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
Alice Sommers works as a nanny to a very sexy Art Dealer. She has a crush on him, but she knows that she can never act on it. She needs her job to support her family. What will happens when Lorenzo Baldi catches her in his pool wearing nothing? Alice is a sympathetic character. I liked her and wanted her to find the happiness that she deserved. It took me longer to warm up to Lorenzo. I understood his fear that his secret would be revealed but he was so severe with Alice. I wanted him to embrace love and life. He got more than he bargained for when he blackmailed Alice to be his fake fiancee. The Isle of Capri provided the perfect setting for this passion romance. The intense attraction between Alice and Lorenzo was very sensual. These two complimented each other. Alice is so full of life that she made me smile. This story is will written that I was pulled right in. Carmen Falcone does not disappoint.
Love the nanny and boss storyline-what a fantastic weekend of Misbehaving What a beautiful and emotional romance story that is filled with mystery . Nanny Alice Sommers comes from a family where her sister is bi polar , hardly ever takes her meds the way she is supposed to AND she has a 10 yr old daughter, her father is dead and her mom depends more and more on her –this nanny is super stressed!! She finally thinks she has the pool to herself on a Friday night because her boss and secret crush, Art dealer Lorenzo Baldi is not due back until very late, so she decides to go skinny dipping but she is caught by her boss and guess what, he’s not alone…and that is how this beautiful story starts. Lorenzo is a man on a mission and that mission is to get back the paintings of his father before the secrets of the past get out and to do that, he will use anything and ANYONE he has to. When he catches his nanny naked in the pool, he comes up with the fact she is his fiancée. Lorenzo tells her he needs her to pretend to his “fiancée” for a week and that will be it and their time will be at an end. The two fight the blazing attraction they feel to each other. Oh and how , as the reader, I can feel the passion and the attraction whenever they are together. The sexual attraction and passion is intense. The twists and turns will keep you glued to the page until the very end. Will Lorenzo take a chance and keep Alice past the week and make the fake relationship real? My rating: 4.7 stars ***** ***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review***
A Weekend of Misbehaving was a quick and entertaining read. Alice is Georgia's best friend from A Night of Misbehaving , and it was fantastic to see her get her own HEA (especially after we found out in ANOM that Brent never even realized she had asked him out! Talk about an ego crusher...) And whoa, does she hit the jackpot with Lorenzo! :) Alice and Lorenzo were a great couple. Their little-more-than-a-weekend-to-HEA felt believable given their history--Alice had been crushing on him for ages, and Lorenzo hadn't allowed himself to see the nanny in "that way" given their respective positions. Of course once they're fake engaged and sharing a room--and a bed--things heat up pretty quickly. Which is a win-win for everyone. My only complaint--why did it take five new nanny interviews for Lorenzo to come to his senses? ;) I loved that Alice's dress size is in the double-digits (at one point, she's at a designer shop where nothing is larger than a 10, and therefore has nothing she can try on) but instead of obsessing over her weight, she's totally comfortable with who she is. She's even turned it to her creative advantage, designing and sewing her own clothing. Yay for confident plus-sized heroines! Georgia and Brent do make appearances here, but Weekend works as a standalone. It's a great first read from Ms. Falcone. and will serve nicely as a gateway drug into her other works ;) Rating: 4 stars / B+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
This latest book, by Author Carmen Falcone, was a magnificent blend of growing love and passion and the strength and weakness of family. Both can cause happiness and anguish when not seen in its true form. In the opinion of this reader, this story is by far the best of all the authors books. It has her trademark of strong sensual characters and humor in surprisingly unexpected places and wonderful twist and turns. But it also shows how ones upbringing, be it viewed right or wrong, can strongly influence the choices we make in life. The ending gave this reader a terrific sense of joy, and great satisfaction in the manner the writer got us there. To say I loved this story is just somehow not saying enough. I'm thinking, how good will her next story be as her writing continues that constant uphill battle to write something even better than the last
There's a lot going on in this sexy romance, with a loan shark after Alice, both of them hiding family secrets and an engagement of convenience too! Lorenzo is desperate to keep his father's artwork under wraps, feeling that an investigation into his family will lead to exposure of sordid details that will wreck his and his daughter's reputation. Alice, working as his nanny, has her own problems with her sister's mental health issues constantly derailing her own plans. When Alice ends up playing his fiancee to save Lorenzo's deal to protect his father's art, things get a bit intense between them as an attraction springs up. Their love scenes are sweet and sexy. Alice came off a bit young for me, not in age so much as attitude, and I found it hard to believe that Lorenzo would be interested in a relationship with her (at least a serious one, there is no doubt that he finds her attractive on a physical level). However, I liked that Alice was a plus sized heroine, comfortable with her body and with a good heart. She's tried hard to be there for everyone, and it was good for her to realize that she needs to do things for herself too. I don't always enjoy children in stories but Lorenzo's nine year old daughter was quite likable. I enjoyed the setting, with the island of Capri featured. 3 stars.
This fun romance is full of so many wonderful attributes. A funny and endearing heroine who is proud and honors her family. A sexy boss whom she has been crushing on for a year. A hot trip where things become entangled and oh, so steamy. The author offers wonderful writing full of imagery that transports you right into the story. You feel the steam coming off the pages. You laugh with the heroine when she starts to ramble. You feel the depth of indecision and pull between doing something for family or doing something right for you. You witness the fall and understand the love connecting the main characters. You know it has to be, somehow.... Carmen Falcone has a wonderful talent for pulling you right into the story. Passion, heat, and sweet love is all wrapped up in this book. An addicting, fresh, and fun read.
When fantasy becomes reality… The last thing nanny Alice Sommers needs is to be caught skinny-dipping by her sexy, cranky-pants boss—in his pool. Her sister owes a crap-load of money to a slimy loan shark and Alice really needs this job if she has any hope of saving her family. Fortunately, her boss is richer than sin and needs her just as much. Art dealer Lorenzo Baldi will lose his prestigious career if his anarchist father’s paintings are revealed to the art world. He’s determined to persuade the paintings’ eccentric owner to sell them to him, even if to pull it off, he’ll have to blackmail his daughter’s nanny—a woman with the sexy curves of a Botticelli masterpiece—into being his fake fiancé. The gorgeous island of Capri inspires some major misbehaving. But even as the loan shark breathes down Alice’s neck and the paintings move closer to the art scene, Lorenzo drops one more bomb that will change everything. Review: I had read one other of Ms. Falcone's stories in an anthology that I really enjoyed, so when I saw this up for review I decided to ask for a copy. The same fun, sexy and heartwarming writing style that I found in her other story was in this story too and it was a very enjoyable read. The characters are what hooked me in this story. I liked that Alice is a caretaker, but she is a risk taker too. I mean, look she gets caught in her boss's pool skinny-dipping for goodness sakes. Lorenzo is pretty awesome, of course he is a millionaire, so what could be wrong with that? He does have many layers, which I liked. But at the heart of him, he wants a better childhood for his daughter than he had, can you say awe.... They are sweet together, but they are sexy too which makes the story have an edge and not be sticky-sweet. Of course all is not hearts and roses. They are keeping secrets, which never ends well. I did like the resolution to their scheming. Great read, for when you want a sexy, sweet romance. 4Stars *Received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*
4 stars A Weekend of Misbehaving was such a good read. I loved Alice, she was a great character, I really connected with her. I enjoyed watching her deal with everything life was throwing her way, she was strong and always looking after the people she loved and cared for. It took a little more time for me to warm to Lorenzo, after a bad marriage he kept a wall up and didn't let too many people see the real man behind that wall. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Alice and Lorenzo, they had great chemistry and together they made a great couple. Overall I found the storyline well written and entertaining, with likable and believable characters that will leave you with a heart full of happy feels.
A Weekend of Misbehaving is my favorite Carmen Falcone book to date! I absolutely loved Lorenzo. The chemistry between Alice and Lorenzo was hot. I loved the characters, I enjoyed the story line, and I just could not put this one down. a copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun day read. I live Alice's confidence and out spoken charm. she's a curvy woman who is strong and independent, taking care of her sister, niece and the girl she nannies for, Cara. "Lorenzo, Mr. B, cockalicious man" Has lots of issues with his past, both his father and his deceased wife. His fake engagement with Alice opens him up as a character making you fall in love with his sexy Italian self! The story line is a fun easy read, with multiple colorful characters sure to make you laugh and it has some nice steam.
If you like strong, confident, creative heroines and heroes that are hot, hot, hot with a vulnerable streak and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, private jets, exotic villas in Italy, and shopping trips to Dolce & Gabanna, you will LOVE this book. Alice Sommers is the nanny for the adorable only daughter of a wealthy, widowed art dealer, but when she decides to go skinny dipping in her boss's pool while he's on a business trip and his daughter's away at camp, it will lead to her being pulled into a weekend subterfuge that will change her life forever. Carmen Falcone can always be depended on to deliver a fantastic read and this one might be her best yet.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is my first time reading Carmen Falcone’s work and I am officially hooked. Wowzer!!! Ms. Falcone’s writing is clear, distinct, and well-executed. With well-developed and likeable characters, the author’s storyline is brought to life in amazing detail. I absolutely loved how Ms. Falcone brought everyday issues to the table and dealt with them in such a down-to-earth way. With sass and curves, Alice brings sexy Lorenzo to his knees. I adored this story and so will you!
Once again, Carmen Falcone has delivered another story that will make you drool over her characters and long for more to read when you are done. I have never read a book of Carmen's that I was disappointed in and this one is no different. A great read once again! Alice stole my heart from the beginning of the story because of how loving and caring she is for her own family. She promised her dad that she would take care of her family and she has no intention of breaking that promise to him, even though he is gone now. With her mom having health issues, Alice wants to keep her stress down as much as she possibly can. With a sister that has bipolar issues and a young child to care for, this is a chore for Alice. Alice works as a nanny for Mr. B and takes her work seriously there as well. She loves the girl that she is in charge of like her own. When Alice is working one night, she thinks that Mr. B is out of town for business so she decides to take a skinny dip in their pool, only to have Mr. B and a client walk in on her! So Lorenzo being the quick reactor that he is, introduces Alice as his fiance. With an opportunity arising for Lorenzo to buy some paintings that he has had his eye on, he needs for Alice to continue to pretend to be his fiance on a business trip that is coming up for him. With Alice needing money to pay off some of her sisters loan sharks, she decides that she can talk Mr. B into paying her what she needs in order for her to help him out. With their agreement decided upon, the two of them set out on their trip. When Alice and Lorenzo carry on with their obligations as an engaged couple to get the paintings for Lorenzo, sparks begin to fly between them and true feelings are vocalized that have been there for some time. Will Lorenzo call a halt to all that is developed in their relationship once he gets the paintings that he wants? Will these two be able to go their separate ways after their agreement? You have to read this one to find out. You will not be disappointed in the way that Carmen Falcone delivers this story! I can't wait to see what is in store for us next from Carmen Falcone!
This is a wonderfully written story with likable characters, plenty of steamy scenes and a few surprises. The pacing is perfect for the storyline and doesn't feel forced or rushed. Alice is a smart, sassy, curvy heroine that is easy to relate to. And, Lorenzo is a rich, sexy hero with a secret. Ms. Falcone does an excellent job of bringing it all together and creating an enjoyable story. A must read. ARC received from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, this book is truly getting some terrific reviews. Unfortunately, I cannot concur with the vast majority of the readers. A Weekend of Misbehaving by Carmen Falcone is an engagement of convenience romance that moves along at a very slow pace. This trope is one of my all-time favorites and I have read a lot of them over the years. However, I did not feel any connection between the two main characters until the very end of the novel. The secondary characters, specifically Viola and Joan, add some intrigue to the story. Alice Sommers enjoys her job as a nanny. She also takes care of her sister who is bipolar, her sister's young daughter and their mother. Alice has a real knack for clothing design, but due to the commitment to her family, she has been unable to pursue her amazing talent. Lorenzo Baldi is an extremely successful and wealthy art dealer. His young daughter Cara is his life and he is smart enough to know that she needs a female role model and someone who can be there for her when he is not. For the past year Alice has been that and more. Now Lorenzo has a chance to purchase his late father's paintings, but in order to do so, he believes he needs to have a significant other. As a result, he asks Alice to be his fiancee for a long weekend away in Capri. In exchange, he will pay off the loan shark that is hounding her. They fall in love in the process. I liked this novel, even though I found the plot to be a bit repetitive. The ending is wonderful, with a happily ever after that left me smiling. A Weekend of Misbehaving by Carmen Falcone, wow, wow, wow, is all I can say...I am such a Carmen Falcone fan now, I want more. I absolutely loved this book so much, I am going to read it again. This story is about family, love, fake relationship, deceit and hot likeable characters. Alice and Lorenzo are very sexy, smart and fun. They burn the pages up in this book with their fake relationship, can they turn it into a real relationship that is the question. You will not want to miss this book, this is a must buy. I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of this book, for my honest review.
Favorite Quotes: “Who knew the janitor was a gossip? If she had, she could have engaged in some interesting conversations with him about the lady from 34A who spent lots of quality time with the chiseled pool boy. And Mrs. Trevor didn’t even own a pool.” “I was going to tell you, but then you were all horny like a man who was just released from prison. I lost my train of thought… Hey, I’m only human.” “No amount of daytime soap opera reruns could ever have prepared Alice for this.” “Love? If a UFC champion had punched him in the gut, he doubted he’d experience the same defenselessness.” My Review: A Weekend of Misbehaving is a fast-paced, fun, and light read that provided an entertaining afternoon. The story moved quickly - before the end of the first chapter, the main character was blind-sided by a loan shark, caught skinny-dipping by her boss in his private pool, faked a serious relationship with said handsome rich boss in front of his client, finagled a luxurious Italian vacation, and committed blackmail. All before I had barely begun to sip my Diet Dew! While the story was fast moving and active, it was well paced and easy to follow. I enjoyed the comfortable writing style with hits of humor, as well as the steamy love scenes and likable characters.
Loved this fun sexy read! Alice is hilarious and the perfect balance to her too serious crabass boss Lorenzo Baldi. Alice is working as a nanny for Lorenzo's young daughter and she takes that very seriously. Right now though, she has a mountain of other problems. Mainly how to deal with the loan shark threatening her family!! Lorenzo is worried about an art deal he needs to make to protect his name. The last thing he needs is to find his nanny skinny dipping in his pool. But now that he has that image in his brain, blackmailing her into being his pretend fiance seems like the perfect solution. This is one for everyone's must read list. I highly recommend it.
