He thought love would save him from a lifetime of loneliness–until Tressa broke his heart and mated with another. Now her mate is dead, she's on the run, and Gabe is asked to bring her back safely. He is the only one who can keep her and her son safe. There's no reason for Gabe to get involved–no reason, except that while he can never forgive her, he's never stopped loving her.
Tressa McCray sacrificed everything–including her own happiness–to protect the man she loved and their unborn cub. Now her nightmare may finally be over–if she can make it safely back to Black Hills land. Her mate's pack can never know the truth, or take control of her young son.
But the one man she would never call, the one she could never forget, has shown up to help. With the lies and the secrets and the pain, can she really ask him to risk his life to save hers and that of the son he doesn't know he has?

A Wolf’s Deception is book two in the Black Hills Pack series by Sherilee Gray. This book was generously provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Another huge WOW for this book as there was for book one, Lone Wolf’s Captive. It’s length is fairly short, about 120 pages. But it is full to the brim and I couldn’t put it down. We first met Gabe in book one as a friend of Fletch. Now we get his story. Gabriel Reed is a Guardian, one of a group of hybrids who enforced shifter law. Hybrids are generally shunned. They are a mixed breed when a wolf shifter produces a child with another type of shifter. Gabe’s parents turned their back on him but as a Guardian, he had gained some respect and had a few friends, namely Fletch who is now the alpha of the Black Hills Pack. Gabe had been in love, and found the acceptance he craved with Tressa McCray. She had said she loved him back as well, but then four years ago, she left him. He has never forgotten the ugly things she said before she left, they still hurt like it was yesterday. Now, four years later, her mate, the man that should have been him, has died and she has a little boy. She wants to come home to her mother but needs help. Fletch asks Gabe to bring her home. Tressa never stopped loving Gabe during the last four long years. When she sees the look in his eyes, all she sees is anger and hurt. He will never forgive her for what she did. If he would only listen to the explanation for why she did what she did. That she didn’t have a choice. Would he ever understand? And Tressa has a huge secret she is keeping from Gabe. One that might drive him even further away from her. This book kept me on the edge of my seat as Gabe tries to keep Tressa and little Sawyer safe as they try to make it home. But hot on their trail is the very unstable younger brother and now alpha of her deceased mate’s pack. He wants Sawyer and he also wants to claim Tressa as his own. During their time together will Tressa get Gabe to finally listen to her explanation as to why she was forced to leave him? Will she ever get him to believe her when she says she never stopped loving him? And what will he do when he finds out the most important thing she is keeping from him? I loved this book. It was full of suspense as well as some hot and steamy scenes. I loved the epilogue as well! I am definitely enjoying Sherilee Gray’s work and definitely plan to read more.
