A Wolf's Love by Caris Roane

A WOLF'S LOVE is a sizzling paranormal romance and can be read in one sitting.

An injured wolf. A witch with killing power at the tips of her fingers. A young witch in danger. Will Cole set aside his hatred of witches to help Lauren save a girl from certain death?

Cole shifted his stance. He'd never known a woman like Lauren, not before his alter transformation two years ago, not since.
But she was a witch and in one terrible move, she'd proven how much he couldn't trust her. The break had been final. He was still mad as fire.
He crossed his arms over his chest. "I know you're there. Show yourself, witch."
~ A Wolf's Love, A Paranormal Romance

About A WOLF'S LOVE:

Cole never wanted to see Lauren again. She was a witch who'd hurt him. Bad. Wolves and witches don't get along. But when she asks for his help to rescue a teenage girl from a vicious drug lord, he can't refuse. He's a Border Patrol Officer in Five Bridges. He's sworn to serve-and-protect. Yet when he sees Lauren again, his desire for her ignites once more. But how can he ever trust a witch who can kill him with the touch of her fingers?

Lauren fell hard for the wolf. They'd dated for three sizzling months that she thought would go on forever. But when he broke with her because he believed she lied to him, she knows he'll never come back. Asking for his help to rescue a kidnap victim was the hardest thing she'd ever done. But will being close to him break her heart all over again?

A nice interlude in the Flame series, this short story solidly references a past between characters and brings them back together with a mission. It's not a lot of development and the conclusion has them reconnecting perhaps too easily, but such is magic. Copy received in exchange for honest review.

Title: A Wolf’s Love Author: Caris Roane Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance Format: Ebook Pages: 63 Rating: 5 Heat: 5 Thoughts: Great little short story! I love the world of Five Bridges, along with the uniqueness of it. There’s always something happening that quickens your heartbeat as good battles evil. Then hits the feels as love blooms despite all the evil. I loved it! This was a nice reminder as to why I love this series. The characters are always so believable that you’d think it was real. And talk about HOT! I’m still fanning myself. This was the perfect little quickie. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.

Awesome short story! Lauren, an alter witch, and Cole, an alter wolf, were once lovers, but he’s hatred toward her kind and a spell she used on him causes him to break up with her. A couple months later a young alter which is kidnapped and Lauren’s only chance to save her is to ask Cole for help. Can he put his hatred for witches to help save this young girls life? Well written and even though it’s a short story it is very detailed. I can always escape into the worlds Caris has created. Love this short story and can’t wait to read the next installment! A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

This is book 5.1 in The Flame series and it features border patrol officer, Cole and talented witch, Lauren. These two love each other so much but because of Cole’s deep-seated distrust of witches, he left her. So heartbreaking! Just being in their presence I could feel their deep feelings of sadness at not being together. Great short story! This author ALWAYS has amazing story lines with fantastic developing characters. It’s such an adventure watching them grow and realize their true potential. I always look forward to new books from his extremely talented author.

He hates her, the hate and distrust is built up well and steady even throughout the mission to save the girl. But the moment the mission is over all of a sudden he cares. He wants to go back to her place. Says 'this won’t change anything but let’s sleep together anyway'. He blames it on the adrenaline. Her side is more believable. It is clear from the start she still loves him but is resigned to not having him. I can even understand the craving to spend the night together for her. The moment that it is all done her crying continues the belief that she wanted what little he was willing to give. But him, I didn’t like his sudden change of heart. At least not in the context that it happened. I would have believed it if Monique confirms to him that she was trying to kill him proving Lauren's story that she was just protecting him months ago when she injured his knee. Would have even believed the change of heart if it happened when he thought he truly lost her. His sudden magic abilities and that he is totally ok with that he is now part warlock after the buildup of his hatred for all things witch just made the whole thing unbelievable and far-fetched. This story had great potential but I think it needed to be a full-length novel in order to do it and the characters justice. I love her stuff, but this one was hard to enjoy for its abruptness and rushed sense of falling in love. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion

I enjoyed this exciting short story that takes place in the deadly world of Five Bridges. When two ex-lovers agree to work together to save a kidnapped witch, sparks fly. Can they put aside their past and save an innocent victim? As always Caris Roane kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked her fierce characters. Cole is a border patrol agent who is sworn to protect. Lauren is a gifted witch who wants to help. I enjoy The paranormal Flame series. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

This was a delightful trip back to Five Bridges where those who are 'altered ' have made their homes. This is a very short read and yet I'm very impressed that the author still managed to give us a complete story with angst, danger and of course romance. More often than not this series features the vampires that patrol and protect Five Bridges so I really enjoyed seeing more of the wolves that live there and thought that Cole came across as a very honourable and protective sort. I could understand his distrust of Lauren as she not only cast a spell on him but it's one that has left him permanently in pain . I think we are so used to stories that have shifters being able to easily overcome injuries and this made a very refreshing change. Lauren clearly had her reasons and has tried to get Cole to understand but it takes the kidnapping of a young woman to get Cole to agree to meet Lauren again. Can he trust her and if so where exactly does that leave them? As usual with this author it's a cracking read and fits in very well with the rest of the series. I'm particularly pleased that she has returned to the more shady dealings as I feel there's a lot of scope amongst the clubs and drug runners to extend the world building. I'm perhaps a little disappointed that we didn't get more of Coles wolf side but very happy that Lauren managed to use her witch abilities for good. This worked very well as a standalone and would be an easy entrance to this series for those who haven't yet discovered just how imaginative and sexy these books are. This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

A Wolf's Love is a short story addition to the Flame series. Cole and Lauren were together, until Lauren did something that Cole couldn't accept, and he called it off. However, when a teenager is kidnapped, Cole is the one that Lauren turns to, even though he refuses to help (at first). What follows is the two of them putting another's needs before their own, and working together to save her. As with all Caris Roane's books, this is very well-written. It may only be a short story, but a full story is here. Nothing has been skimped on, instead you can settle in for a very good read. Personally, I would recommend that you start at book one, just to get the full enjoyment of the world of the Flame, but it isn't fully necessary. You 'could' read them in any order and as a standalone, but I do feel that you would miss something out of this well-developed world. With no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow, I can highly recommend this short story. * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
