About the Author

Aarti Sequeira is host of Taste in Translation on the Cooking Channel. She won The Next Food Network Star, hosted her own show, Aarti Party (2011-2013), and appears on many Food Network shows including Chopped, and Iron Chef America Countdown. She has a food blog, aartipaarti.com and online cooking show, youtube.com/aartipaarti. Born in Bombay and raised in Dubai, Aarti moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern University, and now lives in Los Angeles.

Love this!! From her very 1st appearence on the Next Foodnetwork Star i new she was going to be the winner! Love all her recipes, she made me interested in trying Indian food & the way she teaches us on her program is so much fun....Can't wait to make this for my family! The family stories are wonderful....

If you are curious about Indian flavor profiles but don't really want to plunge into the deep end of the Indian kitchen, so to speak, you will find this book a good place to begin your exploration. The recipes are ones with which most of us are familiar but do not, by and large, call for the 20 or more ingredients that are usual in many Indian dishes. I made the cranberry-pomegranate chutney for Thanksgiving and it was a delicious change from the traditional American variety. I am really having a tasty time exploring the contents of this volume.
