Overview

Lizzy Gardner is a one-million copy bestselling series.

When Lizzy Gardner was only seventeen, what should have been the perfect night became the perfect nightmare. Kidnapped just blocks from home after a romantic evening with her boyfriend, Jared, she woke up to find herself at the mercy of a depraved serial killer. Imprisoned and tormented for months by the maniac she came to know as Spiderman, Lizzy narrowly escaped, the only one of his victims to survive. But Spiderman escaped too, outwitting police and cursing Lizzy to spend her life looking over her shoulder…

Fourteen years later, Lizzy is a private investigator who teaches self-defense to teenage girls in her free time. She does what she can to help others protect themselves and to forget the horror of her ordeal, yet fears she will always be known as “the one who got away.” Then she receives a phone call from Jared, now a special agent for the FBI, with grim news. The killer has resurfaced, this time with a very specific target—Lizzy. And he’s made it clear that she will not escape him again. So begins a chilling game of cat-and-mouse, a terrifying, heart-pounding hunt that only one will survive.

Elizabeth Gardner (Lizzy) was seventeen-years old when she informed her parents that she was going out with her girlfriends only to meet up with her boyfriend Jared Shayne instead. Not wanting to get caught, she asked Jared to drop her off around the corner from her home so she could walk home. As she walked, a figure came out from the darkness and abducted her. Fourteen years later, Lizzy is now a licensed PI known as the "one who got away." She spends much of her time outside of work at the high school teaching young girls how to defend themselves. Unfortunately, for a second time her world comes crashing around her after receiving a call from Jared Shayne who is now a agent in the FBI. It looks like her kidnapper, the man Lizzy has come to refer to as Spiderman, is back and has left her a message. Escaping from a madman should have been the end of her nightmare.but for Lizzy it was only the beginning. Abducted by T.R. Ragan is a thrilling adventure into the mind of a madman and the woman who got away fourteen years ago. Lizzy was a very likable character. She has issues, but who wouldn't after having been held and tortured for 2 months by a psycho? I love that while still having problems, Lizzy didn't let her abduction break her, instead she went out and learned how to defend herself, both with hands on training and with a firearm. She also began teaching young girls how to defend themselves in case of attack. That shows Lizzy's strong will to not be a victim, a theory of which I am a firm believer. Jared Shayne was a doll! I crushed on his character from the very beginning. He's a good looking, intelligent, caring and compassionate man who blamed himself many years for Lizzy's abduction...if only he'd drove her to the door instead of letting her talk him into dropping her off around the corner. Spiderman is a sick and twisted man who thinks he is just in what he is doing because of the reason behind his madness. There were various other characters I thoroughly enjoyed, too many to go over in this post, just know that all were well written and played a significant role in the story. Ultimately, Aducted is a well thought out, well planned thriller that I highly suggest to those who enjoy a good thriller/mystery. The author kept me guessing for quite a while before I did eventually figure out who was Spiderman, but even then there were twists that made me second guess a time or two. Excellent job, T.R. Ragan!

Abduction is a page-turner. The tension is constant and chilling; so real you might start thinking differently about the people around you. Best thriller I've read in a while.

I don't usually read romantic thrillers, but this book was recommended to me. I couldn't put it down. Loved it! I am still thinking about the characters days later. The villain was well developed. I loved the hero and heroine and I can't stop thinking about Hayley. If you like high tension mystery/thrillers then this book is one I highly recommend.

Lizzy Gardner was abducted while walking home one evening. After two months of hellish terror she managed to escape. The past fourteen years she has been trying to overcome the result of this terrible tragedy. Only the boy she was with prior to her abduction calls out of the blue, and she is forced to accept that the nightmare is not over. At seventeen Jared had a lot of overcome himself when his girlfriend disappears walking home from a night out with him. Against his better judgement he had let her get out of the truck and walk home that night, but little did he know that there was a serial killer on the loose in their own neighborhood. Fourteen years later, he finds himself working for the FBI on a case of a young girls disappearance. When they discover a note address to Elizabeth; he immediately knows that the wrong man has been accused and he will stop at nothing to protect her. At seventeen Jared knew he was in love with Lizzy, but after she was found her determination to push him away was never ending. Trying to do what was best he walked away, but never forgot. Vowing not to make the same mistake again; Jared calls Lizzy and so begins the journey of trying to find the "Batman" before he finds Lizzy. This was a thriller to the core. Readers will feel the effects of this terrible and tragic story. The reality of this story is one the you will remember, and such a story will have you looking over your shoulder seeking awareness of your own surrounding. Thrillers are not my most favorite genre, but this was a wonderful presentation. I felt the pace gave a little to be desired, but it was overall a fairly good presentation. Ragan is a talented author not afraid to terrify readers with her fatal characters.

It's been a long time since I've read a thriller/murder mystery. This is my first book my this author. I freaking loved it!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I had to force myself to put the book down and go to bed. It was creepy, dark, and disturbing. It also had love, friendship, and redemption. It took me just over a day to devour the book. I shudder to think of the research that went into this book. But I really appreciate it! Mrs. Ragan crafts an excellent story. I started the second one the same day I finished the first, and foresee that happening for the rest of the series. What a great find!

A serial killer is on the loose. Could it be the same one from 14 years ago that captured and tortured Lizzy Gardner? Is it the same person who is calling her now claiming to be the killer? Throughout the narrative, there is a blend of the tale's current time and flashbacks which the author manages to artfully twist together with no to minimal confusion. A few different characters, including the killer, provide their point of view. These shifts are done without strain. Engaging dialogue helps to drive both the plot and character development. While the characters may be flawed, this only adds to the realism of the tale and the flavor of their turmoil as they struggle to deal with past and present traumas. I felt for them (especially Lizzy and Haley). Overall, an intense read!
