Many people seek to control what is out of their control. In the spiritual life, this leads to a hunger for God's wrath to set things "right" and even, perhaps, to bring about the end of the world. I have met worried, religious people who are convinced that the end of the world is very soon because THEIR PATIENCE is wearing thin. Shouldn't God be acting by now!
Well, God is not weak like us. There is a long range plan in place that is beyond our ability to know. However, using simple, common sense theology we can reason to the fact that God would want to be as merciful to as many as He can possibly be...to save as many as He can possibly save.
