About the Author

Chicago native Gil Bogen has had four books about baseball published and has been honored in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. He is also the author of When the Lion Roars, the incredible story of Dr. James Allen and his quest to expose the lethal effects of Agent Orange and dioxin on Vietnam Veterans.
Following his stint in the U.S. Army Air Force, Bogen became a medical doctor. He practiced as a doctor for ten years and then studied to become Board Certified in psychiatry. He served as chief of staff at the V.A. North Chicago Hospital and then went on to treat veterans and non-veterans at Northwestern University, Wesley Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital.
Bogen founded and served as president of the Vetline Hotline, a 501-3 organization in Illinois that treats Vietnam veterans and other veterans.
Bogen currently resides in Delray Beach, Florida, with his wife and continues to follow his passion of writing.
