Abstract Phil is Phillip Riley, an acclaimed, passionate artist, living through his work, who finds his productivity compromised by lack of inspiration. His impatience with himself leads to flights of irrational behavior, centered in the Northern California coastal town of Bodega Bay. The arrival of Gina Bartoni, a headstrong PhD candidate obsessed with Riley's paintings, changes everything. Lost in love, the artist builds a bridge from the self-reflective importance of his craft to the woman in his life.

I loved this Book! Abstract Phil is a compelling, beautifully written novel that takes the reader on a journey into the world of an abstract artist, his desire for inspiration and the woman that helps him find it. Filled with complex characters and a crazy, loyal dog, the author's storytelling is poetic and eloquent, capturing the reader’s attention with the self-reflective voice of his narrator, Phillip Riley, as he creates his greatest masterpiece and becomes master of his own destiny.    Abstract Phil is a wonderful and original piece of literature,I highly recommend Mr. Barla's book.
