Part of the Bestselling Series World The Immortal Ops by Mandy M. Roth
Paranormal Shifter Military Special Ops Romance

Book Two in the PSI-Ops Series

Dr. James Hagen thought he'd bid Paranormal Security and Intelligence Agency good riddance nearly ten years back. He'd been an operative with them for so long that carving out a new path in life had taken time, but he'd achieved it. He'd made it his mission in life to help the wayward find a path again, to help those who couldn't help themselves. All that changed when he fell into enemy hands. Now, unable to fully heal and plagued by nightmares and choppy visions of what is to come, James isn't sure if he can keep going. That is, until he meets PSI's newest person of interest—a quirky, sexy cyberpunk who totally turns his world upside down.

Laney Steele knows she's onto something. It doesn't matter that most have written her off as a conspiracy theorist and a hacktivist. She knows the government is hiding the existence of super soldiers who can shapeshift into animals. She's so sure that she puts herself on the line to find out more, only what she uncovers isn't exactly what she was hoping for, and it has a heck of a lot more to do with her than she ever thought possible. When her newfound online gamer buddy turns out to be a super soldier, she throws caution to the wind just for a chance to be with him. Neither one of them realizes the enemy has been lurking, waiting for the perfect moment to strike—again.

Another great read by Ms. Roth. Action and adventure. It was good having a lot of the charactors turning up in the story. Must buy # 3, NOW!

Steamy paranormal fun! *Book source ~ Kindle Lending Library After dropping off the radar for 10 years, Dr. James Hagen is back in the PSI fold. His stint as a captive of The Corporation and his year of torture have royally screwed him up to the point he’s not sure he’ll ever be a productive member of the team again. Until he has a vision about a girl. When he makes contact online with a person of interest to the team and he meets up with her in person he realizes the two woman are one and the same. Not only does PSI need to know what she knows about The Corporation and which side she’s on, but James needs her more. With The Corporation breathing down their necks, can either of them survive long enough to have a shot at forever? Can I sum up my review by saying: “Yes! This!” No? You need more? *whines* But whyyyy? Ok, ok. I haven’t read the first series, Immortal Ops, in this world. I’ve only read the first spin-off, Act of Mercy and loved it! It’s my new favorite go to series when I want a hearty laugh as well as some steamy sexiness. Nom nom! The plot is decent and the writing is lovely, but it’s the characters and humor that really sell it to me. I do love humor in my books. I don’t care if a story is a grim suspense/thriller/mystery I need some humor to balance things out. And humor is delivered here in spades. I very much look forward to going back to the beginning and starting with the Immortal Ops series. I do so enjoy when there are multiple books already out when I discover a series I love. *insert evil laugh and hand rubbing*

Lots of adventure and action. So glad there were many laugh out loud moments. Loved the characters. Still feel the romantic interludes were a bit too vulgar, instead of tastefully decribed!

This is the second book in The Immortal Ops series by Mandy Roth. Mandy is a phenomenal writer of paranormal/scifi/shifter romance and I highly recommend her books to any fans of these genres. Although there is lots of good detail to catch you up I recommend read the books in order as many of the characters and their story lines are introduced early and weave throughout the series. This is the story of Dr.James Hagan a part Fae, part Werewolf super soldier for PSi-Ops, currently recovering from being abducted and tortured by "The Corporation" for almost a year before being rescued. Broken and damaged (mentally and physically) suffering PTSD, nightmares and visions of his past, James finds he needs to start doing something to heal his mind. James volunteer to help PSI-Ops investigate a " person of interest", an online super hacker known as Gothgirl". James is immediately drawn to this intriguing woman and has struck up an on one relationship through virtual gaming with her. He finds himself excited, looking forward to their gaming sessions and knows there a bond between the two of them he needs to further pursue. He arranges to meet her at a coffee shop so they can finally meet in person. This meeting may actually be one of the worse first dates ever, they are ambushed by the corporation before they can even say chai latte, and all hell breaks loose. Laney Steele has an affinity for technology, crazy awesome hacking abilities on the computer have gotten her noticed by the government. Laney believes she has uncovered a conspiracy theory about "super soldiers" and wants to announce her proof to the world. She has no idea the amount of extreme danger she has led herself into. Laney is a bit "more", she knows she has some abilities that go beyond normal. Finding out she was part of The Asia Project herself Laney's whole world has been turned upside down. Agreeing to meet the man she has been bonding to online, finding out he can turn into a wolf and that people are trying to kill her was not your typical start to a relationship. Laney is a great heroine, she is witty, fearless, loyal to her friends and takes care of her "own", the group of displaced persons she has somewhat adopted. James is a special hero and character, I loved how he was able to begin to start healing himself by allowing Laney into his life, protecting her and fighting back against those who had abducted him. More than anything this is a wonderful story of healing for both James and Laney. There are many great secondary characters who's stories are features in previous or future books. A very entertaining book with all the right ingredients; lots of humor, danger and excitement, romance filled with just the right amount of smexy, an awesome paranormal fantasy fiction read. Can't wait for Boomer and Strker's stories.
