About the Author

Professor Verda H. Olayinka has been a Lifetime Scholar in Africana Studies and a self-made student of Cultural Development. She is a former New York City Research Scientist II - Evaluator with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Bureaus of HIV/AIDS and Health Care Access and Improvement.
She continues her dual career track as Online Adjunct Professor at SUNY's Empire State College, Center for Distance Learning, as Instructor of "The United States Health Systems" and "Roots and Routes of African Diaspora Resistance."
Professor Olayinka earned a Dual Degree in Sociology and African-American Studies from Brooklyn College in 1974. Ms. Olayinka earned a Master of Professional Studies from Cornell University in 1985 with a multidisciplinary degree in African and African American Studies with a minor concentration in Communication Arts. Communication research provided her with functional skills in Community Research and the Psychology of Behavior and Attitude Change.
This gave rise to a cumulative forty years in Human Services Management in public health, integrated health care for family and community well-being. Professor Olayinka honed her expertise via community-based initiatives, which enhanced her understanding of the challenges of documenting effective program planning, development, and implementation.
