The Survivor......I could not survive if I did not have my weed; it got me through all the abuse, abandonment, shame, hate, cocaine addiction and loneliness. Weed was and is my blanket; it makes me feel comfortable, warm and safe. Even though Aunt Jacky exposed me to the worst life ever I am so grateful to the weed for pulling me through."My best friend, the Joint"....

Don't get me wrong; what attracted me to Aunt Jacky was the fact that she was exciting to be around. Everyone, after a while, wanted to know Aunt Jack . She was the person you would go see if you wanted anything and everything to happen. She was always down for anything. She would help rob banks, steal a credit card and shop with it like it was hers. She could manipulate you and you would not even know it. She got me personally, thousands of times, and she is even getting me right now at this moment.

How did I get there, I got there because I trusted her; I too wanted to know what it was like to be in the streets. I had no one else to trust, my mom was in jail and my dad left. I was 10 years old when I realized what street life was like.Aunt Jacky took me under her wing and I was having a blast until shit got real and I was sitting and waiting for him to touch me..., It was the darkest day... , I was determined to get out, to get off cocaine and to get my life together by any means necessary.

About the Author

Rana Ryan was born in Brooklyn, New York; she was raised in Queens, New York where she studied Psychology and earned her Bachelor's degree. Right out of college Rana Ryan worked with children and families who suffered profoundly from addiction, abuse, abandonment and imprisonment. This is where she witnessed how the crack error destroyed families, financially, emotionally and spiritually. Rana Ryan then went back to school earning her first master's degree, Masters in Public Administration. From there she managed foster care and preventive programs seeing how families with addiction were treated and how they became addicted to drugs. Here, Rana Ryan witnessed the ramifications of drug use in families, children separated from their families, parents imprisoned and abuse on the rise. Rana Ryan decided again to go back to school to earn yet another degree , a Master in Business Administration, where she learned how to manage and operate her own business affording her the opportunity to consult for many of the top family agencies in New York City. This opportunity afforded Rana Ryan a chance to train social workers on how to work with families who have been broken due to long term drug use. After much request from her past and current clients, Rana Ryan went back to earn her third and last degree, Master in Social Work leading her to take the state board exam allowing her to practice as a licensed therapist. This is where Rana Ryan best work was achieved, working with families and children who suffered because of addiction. Addiction Aunt Jacky was born out of all the work Rana Ryan had the opportunity to do with the families she served. Addiction Aunt Jacky is an urban novel that focuses on the powerful introduction to drug use in America from the beginning.
