Adele: The Biography by Marc Shapiro

Over the past year, Adele has taken the country by storm, sweeping the 2012 Grammy Awards and taking home six titles, including one for Album of the Year. The British singer-songwriter has been smashing records ever since her 2008 appearance on Saturday Night Live and her 2009 Grammy for Best New Artist. The success of her second album, 21, made her the first living artist since the Beatles to have two top-five hits in both the UK singles and albums charts. The album hit the #1 spot in 18 different countries. In the U.S., 21 is the longest running number one album by a female in Billboard history, surpassing Whitney Houston's The Bodyguard. To put it simply, her worldwide success is unmatched.

This one-of-a-kind book will provide answers to fans' burning questions, including:

—What was Adele's childhood like as the daughter of a single, teenage mother?

—Growing up, who were her biggest inspirations and influences in the music industry?

—As someone whose career depends on her voice, what was it like being diagnosed with a vocal cord hemorrhage?

—How did canceling her Adele Live tour affect her career?

—How did she make the decision to perform at the Grammys, while still recovering from vocal surgery?

—And much more!

A must-read for every Adele fan.

These comments have brought millions of tears my eyes. I started off with the slightest chance of being a star, but because of my wonderful fans, i'm living the life i have always drempt of! Thank you! From rags to riches indeed. But every 7 of my grammys i have won belong to you for giving me the strength i have tonight. As women, you understand how hard life can be. Expecialy since i just gave birth to my son. My husband and i just couldn't decide the nane of my son until 40 days after birth! Every now and then we are still feuding over which name we should have given him. Somtimes i forget his real name because i would always call him singer. One night, when changing his diapers the baby started to sing out a few words of Rumor Has It! thats how his name originated. Now where did i put his sippy cup! Things are always disapearing when i need them most. Say, thats a nice song topic... Anyway, best look for that sippy cup before the singer awakes. Your Truley, ADELE

I have to give the auhor credit he d a fine job outlining adeles life with all the resoirces available via media. Even I, a diehard adele fan learned several things that I never had known such as how she had thirty ousins who lived down the block from her. However its hard to get past th fact that its a biography and a lot of stuff was left out from her life. The only glimpse we really get of her teen and preteen uears are a couple pf details regarding some of the crappy schools she went to in and around london. I was satisfied but i would have much rather read an aitobiography instead but tats not very likely to happen any tome soon. So I guess this will have to do until then;/ Ps if you already read this book dont botber reading another biography. The others skim over the facts and are not nearly as detailed amd enriching as this particular work. And adele if you are reading this I think you are awesome and an extremely talented singer but please for your own sake dont have children out of wedlock. Especially with rather hairy males named Simon. Thanks! Catherine Elizabeth from a random state in the US that I am not planning on telling you;)
